If you could choose only one restaurant to visit while at WDW, what would it be and why?

California Grill at the Contemporary Resort.

A nice dining experience. Great food. Beautiful views. And a great chance to see Wishes!
Just a great experience from start to finish. We loved it!

I agree. Also hands down the best most personal and best service I have received anywhere on-site.

For us its Ohana at the Polynesian. We love to kick off our vacation with dinner there, normally with a couple drinks and the fireworks in the distance.....great food and a wonderful night. I used to stay at the Polynesian when I was a kid (and there were only 2 main resorts and the MK), so there is a lot of nostalgia for me there.

I have young kids so it would have to be Chef Mickeys. The food is fairly good, but the atmosphere and experience are awesome! Then you just hop the monrail to MK.

Second would be Cali Grill for the fireworks. SUPER MAGICAL.

Next question, are the restaurants better in the park or in the resorts? I have never eaten at a Resort restaurant. Thinking from your responses to the earlier question that I may be missing out!

California Grill hands down. I love the food, service, atmosphere and the view of the fireworks. I try and go as often as my wallet will allow (aka when mom and dad come to visit). =P

You are DEFINITELY missing out if you haven't tried a resort restaurant!!! They are fabulous!!!

To answer the original question, we do love Le Cellier, but having enjoyed our first meal at Citricos this month, that may be our new favorite...

It depends on the situation. For food, I second Flying Fish. I tried a bunch of things last trip, (big dinner on our honeymoon) and that place is amazing. Could kick myself for not trying it sooner. Really, I have praised them on so many threads now, I should start doing commercials for them. LOL! They have the best potatoes au gratin I have ever had in my life. I've gone to some great and fancy steakhouses in my life and they can't compare. I order them everywhere and some are good and most are not so great, but they are fantastic here. Each bite was a bit of heaven, uh, seriously. And we got the mac and cheese with leeks, so we were totally carbed out but I didn't care. So worth it!

If you are going to Epcot, Le Cellier is never a place to pass up. The food is consistently excellent, it has a cozy, atmosphere, nicely themed. Lunch or Dinner is great. I always go for lunch because the burger is just that good, but so is the soup, sides, mushroom filet and a bunch of other things. They have poutine. Cheese fries with gravy....so hard to pass up too. And then I won't order a burger anywhere else unless I have too, because I didn't feel like anything else on a menu, and really, who can top theirs?

DHS - I love the Sci-Fi. So quirky and immersive. The cars are too cute. Just don't go for Dinner. Lunch has always been really good on my visits, and I tried a bunch of things. Some do not like the burger, but I always find it to be good. Depends what you order, but this place really feels like I am in DHS. Tied to my memories of going there a lot as a kid, and I now I still go. I won't ever go to DHS without having Lunch here. I have passed up 50's but I can't bring myself to do it here.

My favorite thing right now is the cranberry waffle thing at RFC, so I guess I'd keep that.

But my favorite place for dinner is Restaurant Marrakesh.

Have to agree with you on Le Cellier, @Mrs.Toad, I've had lunch and dinner there, and I have to agree with you on the atmosphere. I also love Sci-Fi, if for nothing else than the immersiveness. Haven't had dinner there in ages, but agree that lunch is good.

I've had dinner at Flying Fish, their signature potato wrapped snapper, and I wasn't blown away, but I did enjoy myself. Enjoyed a lovely wine tasting afternoon with the GM of Flying Fish at the time. I wouldn't refuse to go there again, but I wouldn't run there, either

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
'Ohana!!!!!
The bread, salad and dessert alone are worth the cost of the meal.
The wings, pork dumplings, noodles, shrimp, and succulent hunks of flame broiled meat are just a delucious bonus.
The veg are meh.
I dream about those little jugs of warm bananas foster sauce.
Add in the entertainment, the atmosphere, and the opportunity to view Wishes from either the restaurant or the beach, amd you have the perfect evening.

Normally we don't eat at TS restaurants, we prefer CS. We just don't want to spend too much time (and money!) with eating while in the parks, only on special occasions we go to TS, e.g. on one evening in 2011 we dined at the California Grill.
Our favorite CS-eateries are the Columbia Harbor House in the MK, Captain Cooks at the Poly (because of the Tonga Toast), the Backlot Express at DHS and Seasons in EPCOT. We don't have any favorites at DAK.
We also love the foodcourt of the Pop.

If we only would have one restaurant during the entire stay I would probably choose Seasons because of the large variety of more healthy food or CHH because of the Lobster Roll and Anchors Aweigh Sandwich.

I agree with the RMH and others...California Grill is our number one choice. We will start our visit on Jan 2 with dinner at CG and a viewing of Wishes (like we always do). That experience puts us in the right mood for the rest of our trip. I am dreaming about the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli right now...

We need time for things to happen.
Only one? That's a tough one....I rarely play by the rules ;) I'm going to give you 3.

If you're looking for an awesome "Disney" experience meal - For me nothing says it like Ohana! It's in an original WDW flagship resort with unique Dining and a view (from some spots of the MK).

If it's straight up out of this world food (and service) then Yachtsman's Steakhouse wins hands down (I can't say enough about our last meal there in Sept - from app to dessert REE-DIC-U-LUS!.

Cali Grill? Well.......If I think about it.... That's a perfect combination of the 2 suggestions above -- Great Disney Experience and an Excellent top notch plate of food (and great service)!
