If and When Apple Buys Disney, Will Parks Finally Improve?

As a CM I find this kida funny because our computers and rides run on Windows lol

Pixar, a company co-founded by apple founder Steve jobs, uses windows pcs. (not exclusively , but a lot)

Financially for larger companies, its way cheaper to go the PC route as the "Apple tax" doesn't really look good during budgeting hundreds of computers.

Despite all of the fighting in regards to iOS and Android, the default computer at Google is a Mac. While the Apple Stores now equip employees with iOS devices to do checkout, they originally had Windows Mobile devices.

For the original Xbox developers were required to develop games on Macs. Sometimes you have to use the right tool for the specific job even if it comes from your competition.

I should have ended my last post with : "This post was made on my Microsoft Surface Pro 3"

Not to veer this thread too far off topic, but in this digital age, brand loyalty to technology is silly. Every company (yes, even Microsoft) is constantly innovating and creating interesting competition with one another, which in the end only benefits us.... the consumer. To say a company like Apple is a good fit because of their HISTORY of innovations is a bit short sighted, as every one of the big companies is where they are due to their respective past. Personally, having grown up during the initial PC boom, I can say... with confidence ..that it has never been a better time to be a tech consumer.

I think that purchase remains the largest single order of Macs. Then again, Microsoft is very much responsible for today's Apple.

Wait for the frenzy later this year. I think they will remain the most in-demand tech products out there.

But the artists get to use these

I think that may do it with me...I can't stand Apple...you guys think we have seen price hikes at the parks? You haven't seen anything...Apple would raise the prices by a ton...just because.

They make a nice product...but it's not worth what they charge.

But then it would become commonplace to see all the iPhone and iPad screens during Wishes!.... wait... :cautious:

I have been in the Apple bed since my Apple IIc back in 1985, had an iPod whhe it was not cool and a iPhone when it was more or less an unknown item. I have most likely 15-20 pieces of Apple hardware (iBooks, iPads, iPods, eMac, iMac, Mac Minis etc) around the house from the last 20 years. Heck I have a clamshell iBook (Tangerine baby!) that still works :) I have lined up at the Apple store way ahead of time for a copy of OS X! I am a Apple for sure.

But no I hope they do not buy Disney. I want my those two loves on my life to stay friends only :)

Apple is already making a killing on media by being the gateway middle-man with their iTunes Store. Is it worth the additional risk to also make money on the production of Disney media and all the added complexities of suddenly being in the travel business? Doesn't make sense to me.

I would love to see what an Apple-sponsored future world pavilion would include. Something that covers the history of man's relationship with machines and computers would be fascinating (Tron tie-in potential or SE-style dark ride?). But I don't see how they could impact the culture and direction of TDO too much just by purchasing them.

Great ideal about Apple in Future World.

They are already in Spaceship Earth in a way :)

I could see this becoming a plausible idea if they feel it would be beneficial to Apple's plan to enter the television market. Most of Disney's networks are already prominently featured on the Apple TV platform. Owning the content not only makes the business more economical but also could give them more negotiating power with cable companies and other content providers. All of this of course depends greatly only what Apples plans are for their approach to the TV market. I personally don't think Apple would want to do this unless for what every reason they found it absolutely necessary, they seem to like to keep a sharp focus on their core products and not spread themselves to thin.

Apple could certainly afford to buy Disney either outright or through stock. Disney is currently valued at $145 billion Apple has $160 billion in cash on hand and the company is currently valued at $543 billion.
The cash is primarily overseas and would be subject to tax when it returns on shore, so they don't exactly have $160b in useable cash.

Plus, Disney shareholders would almost certainly command a premium over today's market cap.

Yes, they could do stock exchange, but that gets messier with voting.
