Trip Report I Will Survive.....Spring Break (with a hint of May) *COMPLETED*

At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live among the Spring Break crowds
But then I spent so many nights thinking how I could be wrong
And I grew strong
And I knew I could get along....

Well that’s what I’m hoping for anyway. I’m not a newbie when it comes to navigating Spring Break at WDW. I’ve got a couple decades of experience under my belt. “Spring Break” isn’t a single week of cray cray crowds (like the week between Christmas and New Years) but is spread over March and April. Unfortunately one (or more) of those weeks can end up being cray cray....and these days, there is no way to predict which one.

Please don’t let it be this week.

But we are prepared. ADRs at 180 days. FPs at 60 days. Clothing for rain or shine. (Praying for shine ~ we’ve had enough rain over the last 4 months to set an ark afloat.) And attitudes willing to “go with the flow.” 🐢

My goal is to keep the updates live. Should I fail? There’s always Part “Tu”.

Who: Tuvalu, Woody and Em (the teacher whose schedule dictates when we go)
When: Sunday, March 31 - Sunday, April 7, 2019
Where: Port Orleans French Quarter
Why: Let’s hope we don’t ask ourselves this!
How: We’ve done the plane, can’t take the train....so it must be the automobile!

Will we be smiling at the end of the week? Stay tuned.

And if you don’t hang around for the smiles, you may want to peek in and see if there are any WDWMagic meet ups. I know of at least three forum friends I hope to encounter.

Now it’s off to bed! The alarm is set for zero-dark-thirty.

At Disney Springs we perused Tren-D, Marketplace Co-Op, World of Disney, Uniqlo and Lilly Pulitzer. Saw some fun stuff but purchased nothing.

Fun stuff examples:

A Minnie pet bed! Poly would cozy herself up inside....

....but then Kona would try to enter, she’d smack him in the head and hiss, and soon the fur would be flying.

How many of you millennials watched The Disney Afternoon?

I can still sing the theme songs! (Which, BTW, were ALL better than the Barney theme song...which I can also sing...thank you, toddler Em!)

This one’s for me! (But not for @TheMouseFan. She isn’t a Bears fan.)

This store took lots of Em’s dollars.
360923

She purchased the just-released Disney pattern tote bag. And a lanyard. Both for school. Think she can deduct them as business expenses? :joyfull:

Since we were closer to the bus stop than boat dock, we used this as transportation back to POFQ.

Thus ends our day. Happy April Fools and thanks for reading along!

Em chose Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch.

We were in John Adams’ room.

Guess whose plate?

View attachment 360743

Did you guess mine?

If so, you’d be WRONG.

Em opted for the turkey. She said she wanted to try something new and was glad she did.

Woody ordered the pot roast....

....as did I.

Who are you and what have you done with Tuvalu???!!!

I wanted the parsnips that I’d tried when my mom had the pot roast on our trip in February. Plus, her roast was succulent!

My beef was every bit as good. The parsnips not so much. ☹ They were bland.

If one Ooey Gooey Cake is good, two must be better.

LTT has changed the recipe and/or preparation of Ooey Gooey Toffee cake. I suspected as much on my last visit and now can confirm. The most important change is it is no longer served warm, and is therefore NOT gooey. It is two thin layers of crumbly dough with a cookie-like texture. The ice cream on top stays firm and the former nirvana of warm gooeyness contrasted with cold, melting ice cream is gone.

It is not a change for the better.

And the cast iron skillet? Plastic.
We ate there yesterday and noticed the same thing. We were temporarily not a Happy Dis Fam!

These kind of changes just make me sad. Not necessary. Not what the chef's intended.
Of course it is never a change for the better.

It is just Sloppy culinary cuts. Yep, makes me sad.

@Tuvalu I love your Luigi shirt and the food at LTT looks so good, I love me some comfort food, but now I'm sad about the OGTC. :( Why do they have to cut corners in stupid ways that ruins things? :(

Now I'm hungry for EoS!:hungry:
I will say our entreés were very good (with the exception of the parsnips!) but dessert....sigh.
I wish there were an Earl’s near us, there are so many yummy sammies to choose from.

We ate there yesterday and noticed the same thing. We were temporarily not a Happy Dis Fam!
Glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed yet sad for you too.

Me too! :bored:

We are going back to SSR in May and bringing the bicycles again. Guess how many tickets, fast passes and ADRs we have?
ZERO!!!

Now that is my kinda shopping!
I knew you’d be pleased. :geek:

I’ll try to look for the ooey gooey recipe tomorrow. I think I got it from all ears site a couple years ago.
Thanks, no rush.

🙋🏻‍♀️ And they’ve actually remade Duck Tales on the Disney Channel....same theme song! (Haven’t actually watched the show yet)
Well Ryleigh might enjoy it.....and then you can have a theme song stuck for years in your head! 😉

Slightly older than a millennial but still a DuckTales fan. I haven't been able to get my daughters into it.

We like the boat to Disney Springs and the bus back to Port Orleans combo too. For some reason, the boat isn't as appealing at the end of the night.

Tuesday, April 2

Good Morning from French Quarter!

Cloudy....but not raining, so that’s a positive.

Brekkie in the food court. Em was lucky to snag a table. Looks like the entire resort is eating at the same time.

360961

High fiber chocolate muffin for Em. Breakfast bowl for Woody. The world’s best French toast....and purse grapes....for yours truly.
