Trip Report I Will Survive.....Spring Break (with a hint of May) *COMPLETED*

At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live among the Spring Break crowds
But then I spent so many nights thinking how I could be wrong
And I grew strong
And I knew I could get along....

Well that’s what I’m hoping for anyway. I’m not a newbie when it comes to navigating Spring Break at WDW. I’ve got a couple decades of experience under my belt. “Spring Break” isn’t a single week of cray cray crowds (like the week between Christmas and New Years) but is spread over March and April. Unfortunately one (or more) of those weeks can end up being cray cray....and these days, there is no way to predict which one.

Please don’t let it be this week.

But we are prepared. ADRs at 180 days. FPs at 60 days. Clothing for rain or shine. (Praying for shine ~ we’ve had enough rain over the last 4 months to set an ark afloat.) And attitudes willing to “go with the flow.” 🐢

My goal is to keep the updates live. Should I fail? There’s always Part “Tu”.

Who: Tuvalu, Woody and Em (the teacher whose schedule dictates when we go)
When: Sunday, March 31 - Sunday, April 7, 2019
Where: Port Orleans French Quarter
Why: Let’s hope we don’t ask ourselves this!
How: We’ve done the plane, can’t take the train....so it must be the automobile!

Will we be smiling at the end of the week? Stay tuned.

And if you don’t hang around for the smiles, you may want to peek in and see if there are any WDWMagic meet ups. I know of at least three forum friends I hope to encounter.

Now it’s off to bed! The alarm is set for zero-dark-thirty.

Four unwrapped gondolas in a row! (I’d post this “exciting” news in the gondola thread but it’s already at 888 pages.)

@TrolleyFollower91 - for the sake of all grade 3 students in Georgia please tell me that your mother's math skills have skipped a generation and that when you add up the unwrapped gondolas you end up with an answer of 5

I got to the bottom of the stairs and stopped. I was suddenly lightheaded and queasy.

“I don’t think I can go to dinner,” I said to Woody and Em. “Not feeling well at all.”

Of course they were concerned, but I assured them I’d be ok without them and insisted they go on.
I say this with glowing respect and admiration ….

You are such a Mom!!!

First you see Oda Mae Brown in Hollywood studios and then Em does her best Sam Wheat impression on the bus!!

Great pictures with @sheriffwoody and Liliana

We had a long wait for the MK bus.

Soon we would find out why.

World Drive was closed past the intersection of Seven Seas/Timberline Dr. Our bus made a left on Seven Seas, drove past the TTC and Poly, then turned right on Floridian Way past the GF. We continued driving in a loop behind the MK.

For over 40 years I have wondered what the monorail roundhouse looks like. Tonight I got to see it for myself.

361523

Pretty exciting stuff, right?

Well I was excited.

Then we passed the backside of Space Mountain! Another thrill!

361526

Anyhoo, the detour added about 10 minutes to the trip between POFQ and MK.

Worth it.

@Tuvalu Here is the recipe I have used for the Ooey Gooey Cake. I use the one from allears

  2. Slowly add eggs and vanilla.
  3. Add butter and mix well.
  4. Put in powdered sugar, then add chocolate chips and toffee pieces.

Back inside Epcot we hurried to a very important meeting.

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present to you the youngest recipient of a Tuvalu card.

She’s a two month old cutie named Liliana.

Precious daughter of our own @sheriffwoody.

View attachment 361467

Em and I learned of Liliana’s impending arrival last summer when we spent a day at Stormalong Bay with @sheriffwoody. So you can imagine how excited we are to finally meet her!

View attachment 361466

Our time together was too short....but you know babies set the schedule, not the mamas. Liliana’s fussing indicated she wanted to be on the move, not standing still.

Until next time, sweet girl!

So excited you were able to meet Liliana and have a quick visit with @sheriffwoody! Liliana is adorable. Congrats @sheriffwoody!

We expected to find the park mobbed. Truthfully it was not too crazy.

Em had a hankering for nachos which is why we ended up here.

361529

While we waited to order, not one but TWO separate people inquired about the price of the “buffet”.

The poor CM had to explain it is the TOPPINGS BAR. 🤦🏻‍♀️

And both guests were still confused.

Here are our nekkid entreés.

361530

Tacos 3 ways ~ beef, chicken, carnitas

361531

Rice bowl with chicken
And a $2 tablespoon of guacamole.

Where are the nachos, you ask?
Em was at the toppings bar when I took the pics.

Ok my friends, thanks to a reminder from @krause I tried to research what you asked for.

Even waited in a 35 minute standby line....

361535

....and got “temporarily detained” near the ghoulish marble busts.

361536

But no ride photos have appeared in MDE.

At least not yet.

This gem was there, however.

As was this one.

Forgot to mention that we saw a man carrying a tiny dog in his arms while attempting to board a doom buggy.

This prompted Woody to ask, “If you need an animal for emotional support, should you really be riding the Haunted Mansion?”

The man has a point.

Next up:
361539

We sat in the front row. Just because we could.

CM Bob entertained us as part of the pre-show. I’m pretty sure he is the same CM who told the jokes I put in my last trip report. When he asked why God only made one Yogi Bear, I was quick to respond, “Because He didn’t want to make a Boo Boo.”

I think I shocked CM Bob that I knew the answer.

361540

Eventually the show started.

We’ve been in the World 4 nights.

And haven’t seen Happily Ever After.

Em and I are having withdrawal symptoms.

Time to get our fix.

We are not ashamed to admit we sang along.
LOUDLY.

No other guests were nearby so we didn’t disturb anyone.

It was such a perfect end to the day. :inlove:

For over 40 years I have wondered what the monorail roundhouse looks like. Tonight I got to see it for myself.

That was fun--I've never seen that either. Thanks for the photo evidence! :)

Then we passed the backside of Space Mountain! Another thrill!

Even that is interesting -- it appeals to the geek in me. :geek:

And a $2 tablespoon of guacamole.

(Just a thought: if you said it was 200 pennies, it wouldn't sound like you were being ripped off as much?) :p

So there’s always hope.....

That's a bummer that it didn't show up in your account. I saw some others on Facebook, it's a cute picture... they say it's taken when your looking at the pictures of the lightening.

Dare I say it.....The moat drained seams....Unmagical. :cautious:
I understand why it had to be drained but that doesn’t make it any less ugly.

Dang, our next Epcot day isn't until Friday. Hopefully you guys find your way over to MK today...
Looked for you in the crowds last night....

I've got Penn State covered!! :D

Re: the finger scans: at work we use fingerprints, and I've been told they pick up your fingerprints better if your hands are "dirty"...they tell us to rub our finger across our forehead, and that usually works for me.

We've had that same server at Beaches & Cream, and yes, she is a doll!

LOVE that Figment magic shot! I'm going with my best friend in June, and she is a HUGE Figment fan! Will have to see about getting this shot.

Still loving it all!
Great comments, thanks!

Neat mug!
Em said it was just released. There are some classic icons on it the pictures did not capture.

She actually is recovering from some yucky third grade germs.
I think she was trying to be funny with her SSE pose.

I thought maybe you had just handed her a card and she was like "Who the heck is Tuvalu??"

Yum.... That NWJ looks so good... I'll have to settle for the all american in MK in Sept... they say B&C is closing sometime in August.

Yes, I read that it closes in the first part of August...I think my ADR is either one or two days before it closes, but I couldn't fit it in any other time, so I didn't bother to change it.

Well, now, I think that is the most deserving card holder ever!! 🥰

Woody and Em’s consistency makes up for your lack thereof 😂
Well, we can be pretty confident that at least Em and Woody are not impostors. I'm reminded of Albus Dumbledore talking to Harry in Half-blood Prince when Harry asks about the pamphlet sent by the ministry of magic and Dumbledore talks about the questions you are supposed to ask to make sure someone is not impersonating another, and says Harry hadn't asked him his favorite flavor of Jam.
“For future reference, Harry, it is raspberry...although of course, if I were a Death Eater, I would have been sure to research my own jam preferences before impersonating myself.”
