Hi everyone,

I've just be looking through all your scrapbooking pages and i'm in love. All my pictures sit in boring photo albums but I think this is about to change!

I live in the UK so will need to research places to buy kits over here but i'm guessing there won't such a big choice of Disney sets. My next trip to WDW is in May so can you let me know where the best places to purchase scrapbook sets and items are at WDW?

We will hire a car for a couple of days too so if there's somewhere close to the world that might work too.

Thanks very much,
Clayre

You will love toput your photos in a scrapbook! I started doing that on my son's first trip back in 2004 and in 2006 on my daughter's first trip I did another. I have purchased scrapbook supplies in so many spots in Disney including resort gift shops. We stayed at WL in '06 and I bought some in their shop. Go to any arts and crafts stores near you. By us Michaels and AC Moore which are craft stores here sell many Mickey related stickers, transfers and decals. Plus you can get lots of other stuff to make your book interesting. Hope that helps!

Hi Clayre

Welcome to the totally addictive world of scrapbooking!

In the UK there is not so much choice as in the US, but you could look in your local Hobbycraft, or The Range or other craft shops.

In Florida last year we visited a wonderful store called Mouse Memories. I think they are quite easy to find via the internet.

Are you planning to do paper scrapbooking or digital (on the computer)?

I'm so glad we inspired you! Welcome to the addictive world of scrapbooking! Hold on to your scissors and wallet...it's going to be a fun (and probably pricey) ride!

Welcome to scrapbooking! Others here are right, many of the shops in Disney carry various scrapbooking supplies. However, Minnie is right about visiting MouseMemories in Kissimmee if you'll have a car. The store is fabulous and the quality of items is much better than what you'll find in Disney World (check them out on get directions at their Web site www.mousememories.com). In fact, I'd go there before purchasing any of the items on Disney property so you know what all your options are. Have fun!

Welcome to the dark side!! It's not going to be cheap!! I've read a lot of people in the UK buy supplies on ebay. But like a lot of people have suggested go to Mousememories. Their selection is so much better then the stores on property. Have fun!

One important thing that is constant between digital and paper scrapbooking is to save EVERYTHING from your trip! I usually come home with a huge folder of paper'n'junk to scan into the computer. Things that are especially nice are park maps, restaurant menus (if paper of course...don't steal a nice one!), fast passes, EMH bracelets, room keys, coasters... The list goes on and on. If you don't want to "waste" a fast pass on the scrapbook, save ONE from the entire trip, then print out a bunch of invalid fastpasses (by putting your ticket in a fastpass machine before you are 'supposed' to get another one) and duplicate the text of the valid fast pass onto the rest (this part is easier with a computer editing program, although it can be done on paper, I imagine).

If you're using paper, you can save a lot of money by embellishing with free things like this that you can bring back from the parks!

I agree with Tom. Save everything possible. It's the cheapest way to embelish a scrapbook. Save all your paperwork from Dsiney as well. There is a lot of items that come through the mail that can be used to add to pages.

Scrapbooking doesn't have to be expensive (ignore my other thread about a $400 Cricut purchase, that's for the wife). When I scrapbook, I use common and easily obtained items; scissors, a straight edge, an Xacto knife, a plexiglass cutting board and various card stock and papers. When I first started, I really didn't use alot of stuff, I let the pictures be the focus. Now, 8 years later, the books have changed. Build up slowly, get a feel for what you want to do. Vacation photos are a great way to start because they are self theming.

The most important thing: Just have fun.

Thanks for all your tips so far. I was thinking paper scrapbooking to start with. I already have a large collection of all sorts of things I have collected from previous disney trips that I didn't know what to do with including park maps from every trip i've every made since my 1st trip in 1994. It's going to be great to do something with them.

I will also try to schedule in a trip to MouseMemories as you all seem to recommend that one.

I also read on another thread about how you do family ones, so I would like to one with the bits and pieces i've saved since my son as born.

I feel i'm going to be busy for a while!

You mean like a $500 Cricut machine?

or wide format printers!

if you add up everything over the years, yes it is expensive. my hubby just commented to me the other day, that i had a lot of money invested in this room.

yes i do, but i did not purchase it all at once.

now i have heard some people talk about shopping sprees, where $200 is easily droppeded into a cash register at those craft stores.

so just be careful. start out slow. papers, scissors, adhesives.

have fun and remember to share your layouts here with us!
