Yep. Loved that, seemed so cool like we were witnessing tech that would be a part of our lives soon... obviously, video chatting now exists but it's not as commonplace at this point as I thought it would be 30 years ago.

Question: I distinctly remember using the video screen to make dinner reservations at Epcot, but how were reservations handled at MK and the resorts at that point? Just a pedestrian calling in or walking up?
Yeah, EPCOT Center got its futurism all wrong.

Who thirty years later ever makes his dining reservations via a computer, never mind has a device with a touch screen?

I remember when there was not 1 but 2 Chef Mickey's!! One was in DTD at one time. We ate there in 1992.

I remember when you could easily walk up to ANY AND ALL restaurants in WDW. Ahhhh those were the days of whatever you were in the mood for!

I remember an Aladdin themed character breakfast in MGM. We loved this back in the day!

I remember when characters would roam free around the parks... after all it is their home right? Now they are not allowed.

We went to the Aladdin breakfast at MGM as well. It was in the sound stage next to the Brown Derby.

I can never remember paying for guide maps either! I do remember in the 70's that instead of being a big folded up map like now, they gave you a small booklet as a guide/ map. Each land had its own two pages and it was really rather cool and I do rather miss that.

I have our booklets from the 70's when there was just the MK. I miss those booklet too and easy to use. I don't remember paying for those booklets or any maps. I think when you bought your tickets the booklets were given to you.

When you could actually ride the extended, original version on the backlot tour.... I loved getting to see the Dick Tracy skit on the Streets of New York and getting to see the Golden Girls house!....
Not to mention seeing The New Mickey Mouse Club (if only I would have known then who those kids would become!)
I miss the old MGM so much it almost brings tears to my eyes!

You and me both. I desperately want Hollywood Studios to return to its former glory

I remember Mine Train Through Natures Wonderland and Journey Thru Inner Space at Disneyland. :)
I went on that when I was a little 4 year old. And had the wildest memories of it. It was not until last year that I discovered it actually really happened. I thought it was some bizarre dream I had.

Criticize all you like, I'm a changed man when it comes to Magicbands.

FastPass+, I'm a bit leery of, but when used in combination with traditional FPs...wow...just wow.

Why do I say this? Well, I used it all day yesterday (and this morning), and now, I miss them. And, I have a feeling, I'll miss them come my trip back to WDW in 7ish more days (too bad POFQ doesn't have them yet...yes, I said it! TOO BAD!)
Nobody here cares about your opinion. Now go sit in the corner and be quiet.:p

We need time for things to happen.
I know there are a few other things rolling around in my noggin that haven't already been listed, but misspent teenage years and overall hard living has damaged that part of my memory, although apparently not permanently!!! I'm enjoying reading everyone elses posts and getting my memory jarred back to life.

There's a lot of:
"Oh yeah, wow, I remember that!!"
Going on at my desk right now.

Thanks for starting this thread - it's all very therapeutic.

I remember when Disney was ....MAGIC.....didn't matter if you had been there before......you couldn't wait to get there!Didn't matter how young or old you were......you couldn't wait to get there. If you drove....seemed like the car wasn't going fast enough. When you started down the road to the main enterence & saw the Disney info signs....if ...you were an adult you became 14 again! Then parking(couldn't afford the $80 per night at the
Poly) soooo park & take the train to the boat or monorail.Go thru the ticket turnstyle then under the railroad
& then you are THERE...PURE MAGIC!! I remember driving from Miami with a girlfriend to just spend the day at WDW & driving back to Miami that night! I enjoy WDW now & stay on site.....BUT......just for .....one moment...would love to be 14 ....again....just....one more time!
