I just purchased an I Phone. I do not like Apple and have been a Windows Mobile person for years. But I finally crossed over to an I Phone.

Did I make a good decision? Are there any Disney applications on the I Phone?

I am looking forward to downloading a movie to my IPhone and watching it on the plane.

You could have gone with the Droid

and Disney and Verizon (thats the network the Droid is on) are jointly releasing park related apps.

Personally I am liking what I am seeing in the new Android 2.0 phones. It is not an iphone killer yet but it certainly has it in its cross-hairs.

I don't think it's a killer either. It's more of a contender.

Very few people are going to drop their iPhones are get a Droid. People have service contracts. iPhone is AT&T and Droid is Verizon.

It is more of an alternate choice. Both are good phones (from what I have seen so far) and are very comprable.

Verizon does have the huge edge in 3G coverage, but thats a network bonus, not a device bonus.

I just don't like apple. My iPod not withstanding.

From what I am hearing nearly every network will be getting an Android phone in the near future and there are also quite a few rumblings of AT&T loosing their exclusivity with the iphone.

I have been wanting to get a smart phone but I really do not care for the locked down nature of the iphone and Windows mobile has always been somewhat of a disaster. Android 2.0 on the other hand looks like a dream come true. It is powerful, open sourced and there is no need to drink Apple flavored Kool-aid.

I'd say you made a good decision. My iPhone is like my life in my pocket. I use the free Kindle application to read books all the time. I have the whole Twilight series in my pocket everywhere I go. It's also nice to be able to read in the dark laying in bed without any lights on. I have a grocery list app that makes grocery-list making so easy and fast, and totals the items in my cart for me as I shop. I have a weight-loss app that helps me count my daily calorie intake and record my exercise. I have both dropbox and MobileMe apps that let me access files from my computer when I'm out and about. I have an "around me" app that tells me what restaurants, stores, gas stations, and attractions are nearby. I have a music app that listens to any music that is playing (on the radio, or whatever) and tells me what the name of the song is and gives me a button to purchase the song on iTunes. I have a television app that functions as a "TV Guide" in my pocket. I have a remote app that controls my Macbook from across the house. I even stopped bringing a Bible to church because I have one on my iPhone! So on, and so on.

There are some Disney apps that are helpful. I have one called Disneyland Park Walkee, which lets people who are currently in the park record the wait times of the rides they are on for other people using the application. It also has maps, park hours, a place to record your parking spot, an attraction check-list, restaurants, menus, etc.

I still have the original Edge-network 4 GB iPhone. I am hoping to upgrade to the latest with video recording and editing capabilities soon.

I'm a big iPhone fan. There are some very good WDW and DLR map apps, there is a WDWDining app and a number of Disney info apps that are pretty interesting.

I blame Laura for my addiction. She had hers when we met. I have the 3GS that she wants... When she finally gets hers, God help us all!

My whole family has the Iphone, while I had the samsung instinct a year back or so.. and I was never a big fan of it. The phone didnt do much for me and I felt the service plans was way over priced.

I decided to go with the palm pre and I think it's better. The ability to run multiple apps at the same time really won me over. You can load a website while checking your email without closing anything. I think its great and the sprint everything plan is a great deal. Just my opinion. Enjoy the phone!

You guys have made me feel better. I have been with ATT for about 10 years so the IPHONE is a nice upgrade for me. The Droid is nice but I do not want to switch companies just yet.

Is it 5:00 yet?
I LOVE my iphone! It is great when you aren't at home and you need to look something up like where something is located or I always find it useful when I am disagreeing with my husband over something and I can look it up and prove him wrong...

The only complaint that I have is that the battery drains pretty quickly. If I am browsing the internet for 45 minutes my battery life will almost be gone...

Can the Droid do what Laura's phone does...?:lookaroun

Seriously!

Yes.

The phone can do anything the iPhone does

However, the set of apps available for the iPhone is not the same as the set of apps available for the Droid.

If there is a specific app for the iPhone that you love love love and you HAVE to have that specific app, it may not exist for the Droid (and vice versa) however there is bound to one that does %99 of what the iPhone one does (and maybe some functions that it doesn't).

Some reviews from the web

Engadget: “The DROID is an excellent smartphone with many (if not all) of the features that a modern user would expect, and if you’re a Verizon customer, there probably isn’t a more action packed device on the network.”

Boy Genius Report: “We absolutely love the Motorola DROID. It’s a perfect storm between awesome hardware, great software, and a great network. That’s not to say it’s for everyone. It isn’t the most consumer-friendly device off the bat and it’s going to take some time and a whole bunch of improvements before we think Android can totally compete in the consumer space like others can.”

Gizmodo: “It’s this simple: If you don’t buy an iPhone, buy a Droid. It’s the best phone on Verizon, and with Android 2.0, the second best smartphone you can buy, period. It’s flawed, deeply in some ways. But it’s the second best phone around, on the best network around.”

David Pogue (The New York Times): “Since Verizon seems to want a Droid-iPhone faceoff, here it is: the Droid wins on phone network, customizability, GPS navigation, speaker, physical keyboard, removable battery and openness (free operating system, mostly uncensored app store). The iPhone wins on simplicity, refinement, thinness, design, Web browsing, music/video synching with your computer, accessory ecosystem and quality/quantity of the app store.”

Walt Mossberg (The Wall Street Journal): “The Droid is potentially a big win for Verizon, Motorola and Google, as well as for loyal Verizon customers.”

CNet: “Some minor design issues and multimedia quibbles aside, the Motorola Droid is the most powerful and fastest Google Android device to date. It fully embraces the openness of the Android platform and offers Verizon customers a smartphone that certainly rivals the other touch-screen devices on the market.”

LA Times: “We’re getting this out of the way now: Motorola’s Droid is the best Google phone on the market. Here’s another one: Droid is the best phone on Verizon.”
