I may have crossed the line...Oops

So my sister got into my car yesterday, and as soon as I switched on the ignition my Disney cd that me and my son listen to on the way to school started playing. The Tikki Room song was on. My sister looked truly confused (she is NO Disney fan) and asked me what the hell I was listening to. I dreaded her response when I said it was a cd with music from the rides at Disney! She was not a bit amused, fully annoyed, and convinced I had lost my mind. I had to wonder if I had crossed over from a Disney fan to a Disney fanatic who may be overly obsessed. Anyone else ever have a moment where they feel they have to question their sanity over their love for Disney? :p
I wonder what your sister would think if she saw me singing along to the Innoventions Plaza area music in my car?

I play Disney CDs in the car with my daughter like 10 million other parents. The first thing I fell in love with that was Disney was the music coming out of movies and theme parks. This is when I was a kid and knew little about Disney but I had gobs of CDs. I taught myself piano through Disney songs. Disney has been producing amazing compositions for decades, winning academy awards, grammys, etc. It wasn't until years later that I actually became a Disney fanatic reading books about Disney and pouring over the little details. But I have several friends that do music and have a deep love for anything Disney music but know little to nothing about Disney and/or don't care about Disney, the parks, etc.

But in a second note, I don't think it is a terrible thing to be an avid Disney fan. What is your sister a fan of? Couldn't you just as equally criticize her particular interests and hobbies? What's worse is a person that is not passionate about anything in life. Or a person that spends most of their time planning/executing illegal activities. I don't know you or your sister but it sounds like your sister is kind of a downer to be around!

This reminds me of a friend of my Fathers. He had a tremendous sense of humor and a very loud, infectious laugh that literally could be heard above everything else. They had a group of friends that got together and believe me when he was there, everyone left holding their sides. People would do their best to remind him of something that made him laugh uncontrollably and at the most inappropriate times.

He constantly embarrassed his wife with those outbursts of laughter and one day when he was in one of his laughing fits she said. Sam, stop that you are embarrassing yourself and me. He stopped laughing long enough to say..."Honey, you go to your church, I'll go to mine." I never forgot that because now I think about that whenever I choose to live my life in a manner that others find "different". You go to your church, I'll go to mine, should be somewhere on my tombstone.

My default ringtone is Jack Wagner's "Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor manténganse alejado de las puertas."

Gets a LOT of interesting reactions from other people. The best of course are the ones when somebody hears the phone ring, looks at you, their eyes light up and you both do the "Awww Yeah" head nod.
It is my text message alert tone. The Innovention area music is my ringtone.

It's my telephone answering machine message.

I have Innoventions (What I consider the main theme) as my default ringtone, and the outro as my text alert. I just recorded them at the parks with my phone and wha-la. Various members of my family have various park ringtones on my phone, including ToT, Beauty and the Beast, and Gaston. No one, out side of family, has ever said they recognized the Epcot tone yet.

I need to snatch up the Monorail one though. That is great.

That depends: Where you listening to the "Original", the "Under New Management" with Gilbert Gottfried and co., or do you have a pirated recording of the newest show?:D
It's from the Celebrating 50 years of Disneyland CD. It sounds very similar to the one I heard my last trip.

How are you crossing a line by listening to what you want in your car? And unless it's something completely offensive, who is she to cast judgment on what you & your son decide to listen to?

Roll down your windows, crank those Tikki Birds up, and jam without any shame!

Of course, I was just joking around. I have the the "Under New management" one myself on my CD, so if anyone has crossed the line, it's me!
I'm still a fairly new Disney fan compared to many on this site. My first trip was in 2008, but my obsession didn't truly begin until my second trip. I can't remember the Under New Management version at all.

Don't worry it could be worse... You could have been me and gone through the same exact scenario but with a catalog of over 4,000 tracks where you can go literally weeks without hearing a single repeat, rather than a single CD. (And no kids to use as an excuse)

A 'friend' of mine posted a link on Facebook to a Disney wedding where the couple dressed up like Ariel and Prince Eric- she and her sister continued to have a conversation about how odd it is for adults to like Disney, and how there must be some 'psychological issues there.' Guess who's getting blocked from my post updates when I'm in the World this weekend?!?!?

I can't say I didn't mix a little space mountain star tunnel music in with our dj's playlist at our wedding. Lol
