We're going to see it tomorrow. I don't usually go with the reviews...if it looks interesting to me then I'll see it and make up my own mind.

It's a common misconception that the Walt Disney Company owns the copyright to Peter Pan. The story is in the public domain in the world except in Britain, where the Great Ormond Street Hospital still holds an indefinite copyright on Peter Pan.

I loved HM! Of course it wasn't as good as PotC, but how could it be? I laughed *so* hard at quite a few things in it, and I really enjoyed spotting the ride references. There are a few more things I'd say about it, but they involve spoilers, so I'll keep quiet. :zipit:

OOH!! The best thing about seeing the Cat in the Hat last week was seeing this trailer! It looks *so* good. And Jason Isaacs as Hook....... And then the trailer showed up again before HM. I'll definitely be arriving in time for trailers when I go back to see HM again this Sunday or Monday! Anyone else excited about this thing?

ME!! :sohappy:

And Josh, for ToT to be rated R, some really bloody gore would have to take place, that, and probly some s*x... ain't gonna happen. Pure "scary" won't get it an "R" rating, but IMO, that R isn't needed to make a suspenseful, thrilling, good movie. That scene in HM in the mausoleum... that was enough for me. But I am easily frightened, too. :lookaroun What disappointed me about the movie was the lame stuff before they got to the mansion. It was like you could TELL they were just trying to fill a half hour or so before the "good stuff" started. It was very VERY boring at the beginning.

Yes, I know that...I was making a joke

(although, how far off am I? I mean, Tinkerbell is one of those characters that Disney exploits EVERYWHERE....from commercials, to shows in the parks...heck...every Disney DVD has her at the beginning...Soooo...Universal goes and makes a Peter Pan movie :D so now THEY can have a Tinkerbell!)

Exactly! All these negative nellies! :p
I loved it!Do I think POTC was better?, Well They are 2 differant types of movies, but if I had the choice between seeing POTC or the Haunted Mansion movie, I would prefer POTC, But I still loved The haunted Mansion Movie and I will definately be seeing The Haunted Mansion movie a few more times at the theatre before it comes out on DVD, which when it does I`ll be getting the DVD! :sohappy:

We saw HM today, and we all enjoyed it (we being wife, 15 year old son, 12 year old son, and yours truly). Could it have been done better? Yes, I think so. I almost got the impression that the script and direction were kept simple so that younger kids could follow the plot and character development (what little there was). But then, I really believe the movie was meant to be under-10 friendly so that smaller kids would leave the theatre smiling, not crying. Unfortunately, they didn't work hard enough to make it over-20 friendly.

Entertaining, could have been better, but I don't feel like I wasted my $19.

Almost forgot - it is a misconception to some that the copyright for Peter Pan is only in England. It also exists in the European Union and in the United States. I'm glad Universal is producing Peter Pan...more money from royalty fees for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.

Well we just got back from the movies (and dinner). I have to agree that it starts out slowly, but all in all it wasn't a bad movie. I'm not sure I would go to see it again or buy the DVD.

Not to mention that ToT has already been done, as a very tame (made for Disney channel?) children's mystery/suspense movie. They really didn't leave much room for a sequel.
