well - i was really looking forward to seeing this movie - and i talked my entire family into seeing this instead of elf or missing. i was embarrassed. the movie was horrible (to me and my familiy at least) it was very boring, and probably even worse to my people who have never ridden the attraction. the only thing i liked about the movie was finding things from the attraction in the movie. it was horrible. boring. a disney disaster. potc was good - but not this.

i should have read that warning rob - i am so the type of person who looks forward to things like that - and will even defend them - but... no. it wasn't worth defending.

Well, being a Haunted Mansion RIDE lover...I was really into it. The story lacked a little but come on...this is loosely based on an attraction...

People say they don't like Eddie Murphy...but honestly...he wasn't in it ALL that much to make you hate him...you pretty much went to see the Mansion anyways...and the mansion lived up to the hype! The whole movie was filled with HM background music, the Grim Grinning Ghost song...heck, even the clock that struck 13...

Did I like PotC better? HECK YEAH!
Did I enjoy my viewing experience with HM? HECK YEAH!

(But, I do see how people who have never been on the ride wouldn't care too much for it)

All in all...when it comes down to it...it all should be based on this question...

"Will you buy the DVD when it comes out?"

My answer..."YES"

i will buy POTC the day it comes out. it might be a while before i buy the HM - and only because it is a disney attraction. i agree - i did not despise the movie because eddie was in it. if anything - he added humor to keep me awake - but it was just not a good storyline. it is like "the haunting" only with gracey manor. the whole plot stunk to me. but i did enjoy all the ride aspects - the music, busts, portraits... etc... but anyway - the movie was horrible to me, and i don't see it doing very well because non disney fanatics will think it is much more boring than i did - (in my opinion) anyway - still go see it - because it does have cool things to look for about the mansion - and hopefully the dvd will have good features.

Just got back a couple hours ago... GO SEE IT! But DON'T expect another POTC, that's just silly! That was a swashbuckling adventure, this is a haunted house movie. How would they be comparable? Totally different things. I thought it was good, give it a thumb up, 3 stars, a grade B, whichever scale you'd like to choose. I, however, am wondering if it's the acting or the writing that left me feeling a little jipped... I'm never sure where you draw the lines there. Were the lines just bad, or the delivery of them not up to par? I dunno, but in all, I'd tell you to go see it. :) (But remember, I'm ALSO the one who sent you Kenny Chesny songs to send to you girlfriend! :lookaroun) ;)

Jennifer Tilly and Eddie's Wife in the movie did not deliver jack. Poor acting on their parts. If Eddie M wasn't in the movie. I feel it would of lacked.

i would have to say the writing is the main thing because they tried to make it scary, but then they tried to make it a comedy. they tried to make it for adults, and then they watered it all down for kids. it was't a great mix. i would love to see the ToT done, rated like R. scary. really scary. no kids in mind.
