Is working in Merchandise hard?I think you actually have a pretty good chance. I knew two people who were monorail pilots during their college program. One lived in the apartment above mine, and told us that during his interview the only thing he wanted to do was drive the monorail - and that's what he got!
It all depends on the openings available. I would love to be trained, but being in merchandise it's not the easiest transistion. Plus I'm only seasonal now, so there's no way... One day maybe!
Good luck to you!
I'm going to be down there the same time as you will be but I am doing the career start program not the college program. I will be down there from 5/28/07 to 1/4/07.I also got my acceptance letter as an Operation Cast Member on the international college program from 5/20/07 to 1/4/08:sohappy:

I would rather work inside than outside I know that. What I really look foward to is the Pin Trading.I love collecting the pins. Oh does anyone know how that work? Do you buy pins and then trade or does disney give you pins for you to trade with and do you get to keep those pins?I didn't think so. I had never worked in merchandise before my first CP, and that was my role. I found that it was pretty simple (though sometimes I was kind of slow counting back the money, and had to triple check I was giving back the right amounts). The only thing I didn't like about merchandise was working the Squeeze Breeze/Glow carts. You have to work out of an apron- not fun.

Thats not fair! I love collecting pins.Oh well! I start working there in May 28!I so can't wait to go!Unless you are working at a resort, most locations have you working both inside and outside. For pin trading, you are given a lanyard and pins for which to trad with guests. You are not allowed to keep them. At the end of the CP you hand them back.

Oh. Well I went to Disney World last summer for my 18th birthday and I bought a lot of pins or at least one from every park! You are more than welcome to buy your own pins. I have my fair share of pins. Just the ones given to you by your work area (if they do) are just for work,.

Yeah they are expensive, but if you go on ebay you can find them cheaper!Yeah, I have a couple hundred pins myself. They are so much fun to collect (but so expensive).
Awesome congratulations! I'm planning to have transportation as my #1 role, and operating a monorail has been my dream ever since I could remember, honestly, I don't know how the odds would be for that, but hopefully you'll get it!
What was your interview like? Did your interviewer say any of the possible roles you would have for transportation?
Congratulations, where are you from?
I´m from Dominican Republic... we are about 20 from my university...2 from spain and 1 more from brasil.
dont´know yet where we´ll be set; chatham, vista or commons
Firstly, thanks
My interview went very well...better than I had expected. I had planned on this one just being my practice interview. I wore a Mickey shirt and showed my passion for Disney and the monorail. I acted out how I would interact with guests, etc. My interviewer seemed very impressed with me and my desire for the job. She said she would try very hard to get me Monorail Pilot.
So far, it's looking good. LSU held an informational meeting about process on the university's side of things. Everyone there (but me) was Quick Service Food and Beverage...I don't if that's what they all chose (seems unlikely) or if I really did impress my recruiter enough to get my dream job. I'm still very nervous (haven't accepted yet but I need to by Monday:lookaroun ).
What was the name of your recruiter/ interviewer? I think I might know her.
Have you picked a start-date yet?
