I was heading home from school today. I was on Osceola Parkway, heading west (I think.. not too sure about the whole east/west thing) and I stopped at a red light. A few seconds later, BAM! Some tourists rear ended me doing approx. 70 MPH. I'm fine, my backs a little sore, and my shoulder is making a "clicky" noise sporadically. The other guy was fine... my car will be fine.. not a lot of damage, but his car was totalled.

Now for the problem... I have insurance, but the other guy was a Foreign tourist with a rental car.. so I'm guessing I gotta deal with Dollar Rent a Car then. So I can't file a claim till 9 am tomorrow...

i wanna cry.. my baby is hurt, and I'm not doing much better..

Poor Rob.... :(

When I was living in Orlando, we were about to take the turn to go to Epcot, when a tourist in the right lane decided to keep going straight! So he passed right in front of us to get out of the curve! We almost flipped and my bf gave him the finger to which the lady in the right seat replied with a wave! They didn´t see anything wrong, or they mocked us!

I wasn´t wearing my seatbelt for the first time in my life because I forgot (I was doing my make up before going to work) and like three seconds before that, I suddenly remember and was buckling it up when I felt the car move (that was my bf trying not to crash them). My guardian angel was flying low.... phew! :animwink:

Hope you feel better soon and good luck with the paperwork!

You are lucky you got hit by a rental car as they are required to carry high levels of insurance. I had a wreck on 536 when someone pulled out on to the road to make a left turn and stopped in my lane (perpendicular to me) because the opposite traffic wasn't clear yet. She was a maid at one of the hotels along there and had the bare minimum auto insurance State Farm sells. I had a hell of a time getting my car fixed even though she was at fault.

It seems like car wrecks are a CM rite of passage. Almost everyone at WDW has had one on the way to or from work!

Umm..

Can my rite of passage just be the fact that my car died on I-4 and i got stuck out there till someone rescued me?

Take good care of yourself!

Did a police officer investigate the accident? The FHP or if within the city the Orlando PD should have filled out a report. You should have been provided with insurance information from the party that hit you. You can file a claim with most (not all) auto insurance companies 24/7. I assume your car was towed and you got a rental? All your costs (car repair or total payment, rental car, medical exams, etc.) will be paid by the other guys insurance company. If you don't all ready have a rental car, get one! Call the insurance company and tell them you are going to get a rental (don't say, "I'd like to get a rental car until my car is fixed".) Tell them, "I'm getting a rental, give me an account number to charge.". However, the most important deal here is your health! Go to a doctor and get checked out! Just because you didn't require emergency treatment does not mean you may not be injured. Soft tissue damage in such an accident may take some time to show up and put you in real pain. For your own sake, go see a doctor (not a chiropractor). Good luck!

Very sorry to hear about your "rear end" experience. Sounds like both cars did what they were designed to do and absorb most of the impact. Better the car than your body!

My 2 cents, make sure you don't sign off on any settlement until you are sure all costs/repairs/bills and LOSS OF WORK has been paid. I've actually heard of some insurance offices asking you to sign a "receipt of service" for the car repairs, but it also includes the language for final settlement for the entire claim. It doesn't happen as much as it used to to, but it still does.

Good luck and hope you don't feel worse when you wake up.

Unfortunately the other driver probably WILL get od scott free. As long as they have purchased the full insurace package from Dollar then they will have a nice new car this morning and will simply have to fill out a few incident report forms for Dollar.

No liabilties and 'accidents will happen'...

Even though they are obviously to blame, they won't face any personal liabilty, as long as they paid all their insurances.

BTW, definately have that back and shoulder looked at, it could very easily be a hairline fracture or something worse.

Rob!
PLEASE have your back and shoulder looked at! I would hate to hear about something showing up down the line that could permanently keep you from enjoying life....not to mention in your line of work it could do more damage over time....
Sorry to hear about your baby too! Didnt you just get her fixed???
As bad as the freeways in Cali are, the drivers seem much better....LOL:lol:
Take care and keep us posted!

This is your mother speaking....GO SEE A DOCTOR!! And DON"T sign anything until you do!!

It looks like you have at least 1/2 dozen people telling you the same thing....maybe we all know what we're talking about? ;) (family total being rear ended at stop lights...5!!! One was at 5:30 AM...a drunk hit my husband...NO other cars around...my husband figured it was because his tail lights were the only thing the guy could see!)

Yeah, definitely get you back looked at. It might not bother you now, but could in the future. I was rearended at a stop light also, when I was 18. It totaled my car, but I didn't see a doctor because I felt fine at the time. Now 13 years later, I have back problems that require me to go to physical therapy 3 times a week, and I know that it all goes back to that accident.

Rob, GET TO A DOCTOR!!!

I was in an accident years ago, got a fun ambulance ride, and then never did any follow-up because nothing was broken. I ended up with neck problems for yEARS- severe pain- you can't imagine. Finally I was doing fine and then at the beginning of June I got rear-ended at a slower speed than you did but by a very large delivery truck. This time I did it right and am just now finishing up physical therapy.
