It seems clear to me that there are enough ways to quantify the track record of an executive that anybody can portray a company's performance to reflect their own bias. I'm very doubtful that either of the extreme characterizations of Eisner are accurate. ( i.e. He's not totally good, and he's not totally bad.)
It seems as though none of the people who like Eisner want to blame him for any of Disney's failures. On the other hand, none of the people who dislike him want to give him credit for Disney's successes. Surely he must either be responsible for BOTH the successes and the failures, or not. If there is to be any successful debate on this subject, I think everyone needs to develop a unanimous perspective as to the extent of a corporate leaders accountability. (i.e. to what extent are his decisions reflective of the company's performance)

As it stands I think the only thing this thread is proving is that Eisner is a polarizing figure.

See, what you do is send a small notecard with your SASE and a letter requesting that the autograph be on the notecard. There's no way around getting the autograph that way. And I'd love Uncle Mike's autograph. He is an amazing man who saved the company. If not for him there would be no Walt Disney Company today. He's one of my heroes, who I'd like to pattern my life after. Here's to you Mike! :sohappy:

What is a SASE?

ok guys as many know i back eisner-i have a question for those who dislike him at the helm of the walt disney company.my question to u is -WHO would u rather see there-im not asking for smart @#! remarks but an educated reply.whom else would u rather see run the entire company that has experience in theme parks, animation, feature films, cruise line, internet,tv network, radio, and many many more?-i realize there are some great people who work at disney and do great jobs in there role-al wiess, cynthia harris, and others but dont have the experience in the other aspects of disney.roy disney is a great guy with many years in animation but is getting too old to take over as ceo.so that leaves and outside person-so who then?

I've got to agree with herbie on this one! This is one of those topics that always seems to end in a brawl! ;) Now, if we could just convince Mr Eisner to join us in the debate, we might get somewhere! ;)

What a useless dust collector that would be. If I were to request and autograph, it would be Mr. Roy E. Disney's.

i agree :sohappy:

>>>WHO would u rather see there-im not asking for smart @#! remarks but an educated reply<<<

Well, considering that the CEO should be a figurehead for the company, there are many choices. John Lasseter of Pixar is one of the top pics. He has enough creative and financial wisdom to run Disney the way it should without leaning the boat to far in either direction. Then you have George Lucas, who needs no introduction. Want another one? How about Tony Baxter, who has designed Disney's most popular attractions?

Of course, with all of this creative power, there would need to be a financial guru to balance things out. Call me crazy, but I think there is a place for Paul Pressler in Disney, be he would only be a financial adviser, and nothing more.

all 3 are good choices-i think they all are very brilliant men.my question lies with this-they are top notch in their feild but do they have the experience outside the field-tony baxter has done great things with wdi but does he have the business savy to make blockbuster movies?how is his merchandise consumer products skills?i can honestly say i dont who i know that has enough of a well rounded resume to handle the job- i do agree a duo is needed like when mike and frank came in-to balance each other out like walt and roy-maybe this set up--

ceo-rob iger(for the fact he has dabled in all of disney units)
president-tom staggs(finance guru to balance iger)
(hes the current cfo)
cfo-not sure(probably the current treasurer)
cso-peter murphy stays in role
chairman disney attractions-either cynthia hariss or al weiss
chairman disney consumer products-andrew mooney stays
chairman disney pictures-stay
president-the disney store-paul pressler-)he did a great job in merchandise just needs out of attarctions)
just my dream team i guess
