Trip Report I ESCAPED!!! (part 2) - The BIG 2-0!

Part 2 of 2
September 12, 2013 - The limbo before the next adventure.

When last I left y'all I had finished up the inaugural unOfficial WDWMagic Girls Dream cruise. Here's the link back to that report. (CLICK HERE)

Just a recap, I've been gone from home including my sons & my little furry girl since Saturday. :( But, hey! I'm rested!

I'm also pretty new to the whole shooting photos in raw format with my new camera and editing so heavily. I'm still developing my skills so if the photos you see here seem odd, it's just me still figuring this stuff out. Pardon my progress, please.

I was on the Disney Cruise Line transfer bus on my way with a couple of the other awesome gals from our cruise sitting on the other side of the aisle. Needless to say, it was a quick, easy ride back to Orlando.

We're here.

I have a knack for being the last stop on these bus transfers. Once the other gals hopped off at the Boardwalk Resort I had the bus all to myself. See? All by my lonesome.

Almost home for the next couple days.

Sorry about that pic. Bouncing along on a moving bus doesn't make photography easy.

I'm here!

My bus driver was really an interesting guy. He told me he remembered when all the area around us was just sand. He used to drive the trucks that delivered the concrete to the construction site when Kidani was being built. Very cool!

We headed to the 2nd floor check-in area for our California Grill time. Joanna, Jess, Siobhan, and Courtney all met up with us for dinner. Still totally can't believe I have no pictures of this. I know at least Tammy will. Joanna, too.

Dinner was lovely. Perhaps the service a little slow. Courtney and I both were a little o_O at the fact I had to remind our server she had forgotten to bring me the beer I ordered. They have quite an extensive list! Forget what I had for dinner. I think I was most impressed with dessert. We did see Wishes from our table. It was fun. Not sure I'd want to spend all that for a meal again but it was decent. I think I might've been more impressed if our service was more prompt. Lots of dead time. I guess maybe they think everyone is there for Wishes so drag it out. I don't know. The checks seemed to take foooooreeeeeeever but then that could easily have been exagerated in my mind because now that my tummy was full I was just dying to go to bed. I'm so pitiful.

Courtney was a doll and shared a taxi back to our resorts. She got dropped at Coronado Springs then I continued on to Kidani. I wasn't out the full amount on the taxi this time but it was still at least $20 or so for me. I can't believe I spent so much on taxis today! Just over $100 for the day. Eeeek! I need to stop being such a particular little princess, huh?

Great report so far, Kelly! Had a great time splitting dessert and a cab with you!!! Hope we can end up in the world/on a cruise together again in the future! :) And hopefully any other trips to California Grill will not include that waitress.

I was going to say - no love for my story? Come on now!

The best ones always need the most attention. Andrew jsut texted me whining about the lack of head scratches. I'm 6 000 miles away, Babe.. not quite sure how you want me to give you a head scratch. Probably something you shoulda thought about before you proposed to someone who is in ASIA for another 10 weeks.

I love that I just call my father "Dadder" and everyone on here just follows suit. I'm not even sure how it started, but now he signs emails (and sometimes texts... because he's old..) like that and it's my favourite. Ohhhhh Dadder! He and Mom are spending a week on the Fantasy, but on his ACTUAL birthday he scored a tee time on TPC Sawgrass - best of both worlds!

Andrew and I were actually talking about peaceing out for a Disney wedding, and he mentioend golfing with the "dadders" as a "bonding" activity pre-wedding. I'm like, YEP. WHATEVER YOU WANT. Anything to get me out of this crazy planning.. I'm not even home and I'm a ball of stress! Disney, work your magic.. He had a great trip when he was 14, but realistically when guys go on their first Disney trip when they're 14, it's not a great benchmark. It's right in the "I'm too cool for this" stage.. in my experience, anyway.

Which will be something I remmeber when I have my babies. After I'm finished my education which will take 109 more years. Well, that's what it feels like.. :( :(

You shoudl come here to do shoe shopping - very cheap and "for you, friend.. good price. Good price. Best price! Friend!?! Friend!!" - this is how I shop now. This is how I plan on getting my wedding shoes. #chinaprobs

I LOVE your adorable story! I'll get back to ya soon.

Only 10 weeks to go! Almost down to the double-digits. He'll live. So funny about the head scratchin'. I scratch Tracey's head &/or back eeeeevery night. That's how he goes to sleep. LOL!

Well, on here we only know your dad as "Dadder" because that's what you call him. I'm sure you've said his name before. I don't know it. He's "Dadder". LOL!

I could so see you doing a runaway Disney wedding/moon. If nothing else, I've always heard that the planners & planning services make it sooooo easy for you. Plus, if you got married there then Andrew would HAVE to have a special place in his heart for the place forever. Right?!

Friend?! Friend!!! So funny! But do they try the guilt angle with "You promised!" or "My turn!"???? If so, they have been sharing notes with the shop people in Mexico. LOL! However, seriously doubt I'd be able to do much productive shoe shopping in China or any Asian country. Those people are so tiny and I have ginormous feet. I'd need to find their Sasquatch shop.

Loving this report Kelly. Can't wait for more.

Thanks! Edited 2 days worth of pics today & uploaded. I'm on a roll!

Great report, as usual! I loved reading the first part of your report. Hopefully there will be another girls cruise because I would love to go! I can't wait to read more of the report...and find out just what was up in the attic???? :D

Thanks!

Definitely will be another girls cruise. Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement soon.

In the attic! Ugh! Okay. Well, since April we've been renting a house from a guy Tracey used to work with and is buddies with. So, it's a huge house but it had been lived in alone by the friend for a long time. He worked a lot kinda like Tracey does. The rent is super low for the space but we've had to deal with some of the issues along the way. It's also benefited the friend because I've been here to get a lot of little things worked on. Like the fence had to be replaced. The roof needed repair. One of the big things (that's getting done next month) is the foundation is going to be re-leveled. Between the time the roof was repaired in July and September the foundation settled quite a bit more on the front of the house which opened some other gaps in the roof & eaves. Sooooo, the screaming thing in the attic was a roof rat that got stuck in a trap left previously when we had the pest control people out to deal with the scurrying little chewers in the attic. Believe me, I am noooot happy. But, Tracey's project will end around the end of the year and the guys who rented our old house (about 1.5 hrs from here) will be leaving at the end of December. We don't want to jump the gun signing any other leases or committing anywhere until we know where Tracey is going after his project finishes. Most likely he'll still be in/around Houston. But, so much unknown. We're not tied to a lease where we are so we're just sorta sitting it out for the time being. Plus, I'm sorta holding out for something to appear in the neighborhood area I REALLY want to live in: Nassau Bay! That's the long version. LOL!

Great report so far, Kelly! Had a great time splitting dessert and a cab with you!!! Hope we can end up in the world/on a cruise together again in the future! :) And hopefully any other trips to California Grill will not include that waitress.

That dessert was killer! The cab was waaaay more enjoyable with someone other than the cabbie to talk to. Definitely hope we can land in the same place/time again in the future: Disney, a ship, or NOLA! Um, yeah, let's hope for a better waitress next time. o_O

Love the Savana pics! I feel the same way about AKL - it feels so comfortable and "like home".

Oh man, I would be just like Tracy, hitting that soft serve hard! Major weakness for ice cream. :hungry:

AKL does have a very comfortable feeling. Seriously, if it could get us looking at DVC again that's really saying something. :jawdrop::happy:

I don't know why I'm never really tempted by the soft serve. I think I had a tiny cone just once all week. I will say, on the girls cruise @polymissy in all her genius demonstrated the ultimate use of resources on Castaway Cay. She got 2 of the cookies from the lunch buffet and created her own ice cream cookie sammich with the soft serve. Genius, I tell you! It was a total "I can't believe I never thought of that" moment! :joyfull:

September 15, 2013 - Out to sea just my sweetness 'n me.

Anyone familiar with my cruise reports knows I like to start each day with the front cover of the daily Navigator. The daily Navigator is a paper leaflet that contains hours for most venues & services, info about goings on for the day, and the schedule of activities and events. Well, our sailing on the Fantasy was the 2nd of 2 cruises that tested a new app version of the Navigator. I LOVED it! I wrote a pretty detailed description and uploaded pics HERE in case you're interested. ((Scroll down on page 2 for the meat 'n potatoes.)) Very impressed. I'll be starting my cruise days in this report with screen captures of the main home page from the Navigator app. WooHOO!

At-sea days are soooo relaxing. Breakfast was at Cabanas this morning. Sorry, no pics. Prob'ly went to the shops to compare stuff to what was on the Dream. ((Really no sale stuff on the Fantasy whereas the Dream had plenty of things marked down.)) We wandered because it's such a relaxing thing to do. I played with pictures of more cool stuff. This is right by Guest Services on deck 3.

Seeing what I could do with texture and depth.

I think this is also across from Guest Services. I love the clean, modern feel in the interpretation of the castle.

On the opposite side of the atrium still on deck 3 is another fun little vignette.

Oooooh...I like the texture.

All in the details.

Right across from this mosaic & chair is the Bon Voyage bar. Later in the cruise we talked to a bartender we "knew" from our last Fantasy sailing and he said this is his favorite bar to rotate to. The reason is even when there's no guests to serve the location overlooks the atrium so there's always people to see and it makes for a more interesting day to be able to people-watch. Never thought of it like that but very true.

Plush seating near Bon Voyage. The passage-way behind Tracey leads to the shops area then the Walt Disney Theater beyond.

Near the atrium on deck 3. I love this.

Ah, but we're just killin' time. Pretty soon it was time for us to go up to Goofy's Sports Deck for our golf simulator reservation. There's 2 simulator rooms: 1 set up for golf, the other set up for multi-sports. The multi-sports, I think, are baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and (maybe) hockey. I think. Not sure. We were just here for the golf. The aren't free. I'd have to go look up the pricing but you can pre-reserve them online prior to sailing in 1/2 hour or hour increments. We did an hour which I believe was $35. I told Tracey I would play to get him to let me book it but I really just wanted him to be able to do it because he had talked about wanting to for so long. ;) I did play maybe 1 hole but I'm not very good at golf and wasn't really amused with the simulator.

It's kind of a small space. Whenever Tracey would really swing especially with the driver it was sooooo loud....CRACK!

I love snapping pictures of Tracey at his full backswing right when he torques back down. Depending on the stiffness of the driver shaft, you can capture a LOT of the flex in the shaft.

Liiiittle blur from the safety net I was shooting from behind.

The putting was really tough to figure out. The sensors for distance were behind the screen. So, when you putted the ball you had to hit it hard enough to get it to the screen so it would register distance AND get the amount of distance right. You don't want to overshoot the hole or come up short.

Overall, the simulator was fun. Tracey really enjoyed it. He says it's more like a video game than playing golf. There's so much you have to compensate for in the translation for the screen & sensors. He did say it was fun and would do it again. Yay!

Golf worked up an appetite so we headed down to Royal Court for lunch. Passing through the atrium, never too many pics of the chandelier.

As soon as we were seated I noticed the print in the ceiling panels. I commented on it so Tracey suggested I get a picture. "Um, no. That's weird." Yeah, even I thought me taking a ceiling pic would be weird. So Tracey snatched my camera off the table and took this for me. What an angel, willing to look weird taking ceiling pics for little ol' me.

The restaurant had just opened for lunch. There weren't many people around so I jumped up and took this mosaic pic while we waited for our food. Good thing. Not 5 minutes later a family was seated here.

This was right behind me.

See? There it is behind me.

No salad or entree pics because I was so hungry when the plates were set down I dove in. I slowed down to get a pic of dessert, tho. I forget what the name of the chocolate cakey thing was but I also had a Mickey's premium bar for good measure. Don't worry, I only managed 2 bites of each.

As we headed for the side exit I paused for a few more pictures. Nobody was seated in these areas so I didn't feel like I was bothering anyone.

Royal Court is laid out sorta like in a circular configuration in the center of the room. The ceiling is so interesting to look at.

Back to our room for a nap. Hey! What is this????? LAND HOOOOOO!!!!

Could this be??? Hmmmm....

Yep. It's Cuba. Even though we just saw this a 4 months ago it's still a totally geeky-cool thing to actually see with your own eyeballs.

We hugged the coast for a several hours. I know we caught a nap in here somewhere and woke to find we were still looking at Cuba's mountain ranges in the distance.

Just wow.

Hey Tracey. Wanna pic with Cuba?

Me, too!

@Disneyfalcon, guess where my toes were??? Lookin' at Cuba!

I wonder how high these mountain ranges are?

The clouds were neat to watch, too.

Looking forward.

If I stood out by the rail of our verandah and looked up, this was above us.

Tracey was doing panoramas with his iPhone.

Big verandahs are very cool.

I don't know that I've ever taken a pic from this angle before. Standing at the verandah door looking into our room.

Aaaaaand, that's the end of pics for today. I'm tellin' ya, we were all about relaxing! We were sooooo about our relaxing that we decided to go anti-formal night tonight.

We attended the early show tonight which turned out to be an interesting experience. Met a lovely woman who had just come from the Castaway Club Gold & Platinum Reception with a glass of wine in-hand while waiting for the theater to open. Tracey had a little playful banter going on with her when she held up her gold lanyard and said, "Goooooold, baby!" She was sooooo proud of her gold status. The rest of the cruise whenever Tracey & I would get to yeah-yeah'ing at each other I'd hold up my imaginary lanyard and say, "Goooooold, baby!" I love to rib my man about the whole "cruise career" he's always referencing in jest. :p

We hit up Cabanas for dinner then relaxed in the Quiet Cove pool. We were all by our lonesome until @Bam Bam and her super-cool hubby came along to join in the anti-formal night festivities. We chit-chatted for a bit. So awesome to meet other WDWMagicers! When our compadres left we headed over to the hot tub to warm up a bit. Soooooo relaxing...and I didn't even have to wear uncomfortable shoes! This is living, y'all!!!

Ooooooh, dang! I was just trying to remember if we went to the late adult show tonight. NO! And I forgot to tell you WHY we haven't touched not a single drop of alcohol all stinkin' day today! Duh! We didn't go to bed early last night!!!! Nooooooooope! We went to the Match Your Mate show and drank waaaaay more drinky-drinks than we should've. When we managed to get back to our room last night we decided we needed to be proactive in sobering up for some reason so we ordered a whole mess of room service in the middle of the night. I still was miserable trying to go to sleep. Let me just tell you, you do NOT want to try going to sleep half-drunk on a ship that's sailing in those Florida currents. Spinning is bad enough. Rocking makes it soooo much worse! Ugh!

So, yeah, took it easy all day today drinking nothing but water. Loooots of water. Honestly, neither of us could stomach a cocktail if we had wanted to. Tonight we went to bed like good kiddies, ordered crispy treats, and watched on-demand movies. Yep. THAT's how it went!

September 16, 2013 - Terrors of the deep.

The first thing we ever do when we wake up is turn on the bridge report channel to see where we are. This morning the bridge report channel wasn't very informative. o_O

WE'RE LOST!!!! :hilarious: Just kidding! I was very confident in 'The Commodore'. :p

And here comes Grand Cayman...

Kinda a cloudy day today. :(

Oh geez. That's rain behind us. Still have a few hours until all-ashore, though.

We approached Grand Cayman super slow. Hey! There's another ship here already.

There's soooo many tenders waiting for us to anchor. It's like a swarm of them out there.

It's a cute little baby ship. Awwwww....

If you look at the first picture of the 2 of the Regent ship you'll see one of it's lifeboats in the water. They were tendering their passengers using one of their own lifeboats. :jawdrop: I don't know how common that is but I'd never seen it before, not that I've tendered sooooo many times. :geek: We watched them during the course of the day...tendering away in a lifeboat. I guess it'd save more than a few bucks. Right?

We watched the water jet pack operations for a while, too. I've seen ads for this a few times. It's on the tourism websites. Basically, you strap this water jet thing on and "fly" like the Rocketeer.

Normally I'm not a fan of doing excursions through the cruise line. Oftentimes the mark-up is considerable and you end up being herded in large groups of people. We really wanted to snorkel over the USS Kittiwake shipwreck this trip. We could've chartered a boat to take us but it would've been pretty expensive. The boat operators have to have special permits to go to that wreck and they pay a fee whenever they do. For just the 2 of us the cost was not reasonable so we bit the bullet and booked the catamaran snorkel excursion thru the cruise line that made a stop at the Kittiwake.

The Kittiwake was a submarine rescue/salvage vessel in the US Navy from 1945 to 1994. One of her most noted salvages was for the Space Shuttle Challenger. She was sunk off of Grand Cayman in 2011 to provide an artificial reef to snorkel and dive. Grand Cayman is known for it's amazing reefs, excellent snorkel & dive sites abound. You can find lots of interesting info and pictures of the Kittiwake HERE.

Sooooo, we met with our little herd for the day in the Buena Vista Theater then set out on a tender.

Why don't the ships pull up to a pier in Grand Cayman? Well, remember the reefs I mentioned here? Grand Cayman is surrounded by reefs. The water isn't deep enough up by the island. If they dredged a spot for the ships to park at a pier they'd destroy a lot of reef systems. No can do. Grand Cayman needs their reefs in-tact, healthy, and thriving!

Tendering is cool, though. You get some really interesting views of the ship.

My favorite view.

Off the tenders. Follow the Goofy sign. It's like a flock of sheep. :banghead: We loaded into 3 or 4 little mini-bus/van things for the drive to the boat.

Along the way.

I know it's blurry. Well, what I wanted a pic of is blurry. The spots of dirt on the van window look pretty good. This would be Caymanian for "Exxon". Prob'ly doesn't mean much for the rest of the world but, hey, it funds the fun for me, people.

Before you all start laughing: "Kelly, you took a picture of the Burger King WHYYYYYY????" Look closely. Something here is not right. Do you see it???

The car in the drive-thru is not facing the right direction. Or, it's pulled up to the wrong side of the building. The steering wheels are on the wrong side in the cars here. And they drive on the wrong side of the road...as seen here:

Also, the above pic is of just one of the dozens and dozens of banking institutions on Grand Cayman. It's a huuuge international banking center here.

So the mini-bus/vans pulled up to a public beach located on the 7-Mile Beach stretch that's called "Governer's Beach". It's called "Governer's Beach" because it's right next door to the Governer's private residence. The sign on the wall here reads: "Please respect the Governer's privacy." Niiiiiice...

This is our boat.

We had to walk past the Governor's house to get to it. That was different. Here's our other boat. It's neat to see it off in the distance.

Red Sail.

Tracey & I found a good spot to park our butts on the aft facing bench.

@Disneyfalcon, my toes said "Hi" all the way from Grand Cayman.

The water wasn't very deep and it was crystal clear.

The captain's seat/open cockpit was right behind us. I liked looking up at the mast & all the rigging.

That Regent ship sure is small next to the Fantasy.

We were only underway via motor for maybe 10 minutes before we were at our first stop, the Kittiwake. We were so psyched! We forgot our own snorkel gear at home so we used the rent-a-disease stuff they had on the boat. I jest. It's santized after each use. :p We were so anxious to get in the water. As soon as they gave the signal we zipped up to the front of the boat and off we went.

You'll have to forgive my pictures, y'all. It was overcast so I didn't get much light to work with in the processing of the underwater pics. The ship wasn't terribly deep. It's just dark because of the lack of sunlight mostly.

Sooooo, we started out approaching the wreck from about midship on the port side. That would put the front of the wreck to the left and the rear to the right.

Looking to the right towards the rear of the wreck.

I noticed the schools of fish swimming in circles around this structure. I watched them for several minutes.

Looking back to my left in the direction of the front of the wreck, I was still watching all the schools of fish swirling about.

I swam directly over the top of the wreck so that I was on the starboard side now. I looked back and saw Tracey waving his hands around furiously. When I looked at him he pointed back behind where I was. I turned and looked.

Oh. My. GOD.

Okay, well in the great circle of life in the sea where there's oodles of schools of fish swirling about there might be bigger fishies nearby. Makes sense. Never saw this in the first person before. You know, with my own eyeballs???? So while I was watching the swirly fishies there were bigger things watching me and the little fishies swimming about.

Do you see it???? How 'bout now?

This is a totally awful edit job but I'm trying to bring out the shape. Do you know what this is?????

I'm not the smartest girl in the world but I knew what that was instantly. It's a barracuda. I have no way of impressing upon you how large that bad boy was. He was a bit of a distance from me but I PROMISE you he was easily as long as I am tall. And I'm 5'9". :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop: Tracey totally concurred. I kid you not. MONSTER.

So let's back up a second and let me tell you what goes thru your mind when you see a predator fish as big as you just hanging out watching you.

Tracey pointed. I turned. What is thaaaaa.....OH F-dash-dash-dash.....barracuuuuu....OH F-dash-dash-dash....it's HUUUUUGE!!!!!!!!! God, I didn't know you made them this BIG! I'm dead. This is how I'm going to die. He can outswim me. There's no swimming away. Okay. F-dash-dash-dash. What do we do, Kelly. Okay. He's not moving. Okay. Don't move. What's he doing? He's not moving. Okay. He's watching us. Oh, and the fish. He's watching the fish. Okay. I don't think he's going to eat me. He wants the fish. Okay. Take a picture. Take a few. No clue if I got him. Holy crap. This is so COOL!!!! I can't believe I'm seeing THIS!!!!!!

I started to slowly swim back towards the wreck. I looked over at Tracey and gave him a thumbs-up. When I looked back where the barracuda had been he was gone. I looked all around me. He was gone. Tracey & I surfaced. We were both totally freaking out. It was so stinkin' awesome! It scared the crap out of me but when I thought about it and slowed down enough to think it was actually totally amazing to have seen such a massive fish. That thing was like a torpedo in the water. Amazing!

I had backed-up over the wreck and drifted further to the aft. This is looking back forward.

In the funnel.

This would've been the bridge.

I imagined this would've been where my dad would've been working. He was a signalman.

This is the bridge again and in front of the bridge.

So cool.

All the way forward now.

Now at the front of the ship looking back.

Another lady dove down pretty far. There was no way Tracey or I could do that. Our heart rates were still waaaay too jacked.

Moving back over to the port side.

After I took that last pic Tracey & I surfaced. We were still totally flipping on the massive 'cuda we'd seen. We decided to head on back to the boat and catch a rest. Time was almost up for this stop anyway.

Within 5 minutes or so they were signaling for everyone to return to the boat. We motored maybe 5 minutes to our next stop, a bit of a reef.

The main part of the reef was in front of our boat. Tracey and I just hopped off the back and paddled around a little bit. Not many fishies. Well, there was me.

And this stuff.

Oh look! It's the butt!

We didn't stay in the water too long. We hopped back on the boat, returned the gear, rinsed well with the fresh water hose before everyone else got back, and hung our towels over the little rail in front of our seats to dry. Tracey took what little cash I had with me and bought us a couple drinks from the cash bar on the boat. He had some rum punch or something. I tried a White Tip Lager.

Me 'n my sweetness in Grand Cayman.

Before long they called everyone back to the boat so we could fulfill the sail portion of the excursion. Off we go....

We were never far from where we started. We could see the Governer's house the entire time we were out.

Up with the main.

They let out the jib as well but it wasn't a very big one. Tracey could see the GPS behind us so he watched our speed. Even after the engines were off we still maintained 5-7 knots. We sailed for maybe 20 minutes before they pulled in the sails, cranked up the motor, and returned us to the spot where we'd been picked up. As we were getting off the boat I admired the rigging some more.

There were oodles of little minnows in the water right next to the boat but you can't see them so good.

We walked back up to Governor's Beach where our mini-bus/vans were waiting. We returned to the port area. I had to prod Tracey a little to take a few minutes to walk over to Margaritaville again. We didn't have much time before all-aboard but I wanted to get my parents some tshirts. So, we hoofed it over very quickly.

I took this next picture without even stopping. We were really moving it back to the pier as quick as we could.

We definitely were NOT the last tender for the day.

She's such a pretty girl to look at.

Hey! There's the Regent's lifeboat tender!

I'm not entirely sure what we did with the rest of the day/evening. I don't think we went to the show. I think we ate at the walk-up window for dinner. We may or may not have ordered BLTs and fries from room service for second dinner. Pretty sure tonight we had our room service picnic then curled up in bed to watch in-demand movies until late. Prob'ly seems silly to be on such an amazing ship with so many options and still opt to be little hermits. We've seen & done the main dining rooms. We don't feel like making any effort to dress for dinner. Relaxation to the utmost. Yes sir!

September 17, 2013 - It's like dejavu for some reason...

You know, if only we could see Costa Maya with the gorgeous blue skies in the Navigator app picture. Instead, we get angry seas and angry skies.

Sooooo, we wandered and kept ourselves entertained.

Tracey loves Ratatouille.

Not sure what all we did. Breakfast, I'm sure. All-ashore wasn't until 1:00. I spy with my little eye a glum Costa Maya!

I see you up there!

Looks like solid napping weather to me.

I really tried not to brighten the pics from their original tones. This is what it was like.

Many port adventures were cancelled. I felt so bad for people. We hadn't really planned to do anything. Our plan for today was to do whatever we felt like. We didn't feel like going out in that weather. We did feel like lunch in Cabanas, though.

I tried really hard to get a shot of the water breaking over the rocks by the point.

We wandered more. Never too many. I really like this one a lot.

The Fantasy's statue is Flapper Minnie.

The night club district is so amazing on this ship. Love it. There's an area that looks sorta like a quaint little village. From this space you can go to Ooh LaLa (champagne bar), O'Gill's (pub), and La Piazza (Italian bar). Here's the entrance to Ooh LaLa.

We had somewhere to be in just 15 minutes.

We are here. ((I absolutely LOVE all my pics from here.))

This is inside La Piazza. It's all in the details.

The bar looks like you're on a carousel. The bar stools are like being on the seats or saddles.

Isn't it awesome?

I had the most fun taking all these pictures. There's so much eye candy everywhere and I saw so many fun angles to compose from.

I'm gonna get one of whatever those are!

Yep!

So the Italian Cocktail Tasting was a new offering I'd never heard of before. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize they're trying to drum-up interest in the offerings from this bar. If I'd had to come pay full price for any one of the drinks we tasted I prob'ly never would've done it. La Piazza in itself is more of a pass-thru area just because of where it's located and how it's situated. Even when live music is going on here I never saw many people sitting. So, yeah, for $15 you get to learn about the specialty cocktails served here in La Piazza and enjoy 5 different drinky-drinks. Doesn't get much better!

I wasn't taking any notes so no clue what the names of these things were or what was in them. I'll call them Yummy! Go to La Piazza and start ordering their specialties. You're bound to get something like what I took pictures of.

Tracey didn't like this shot. I did so I got TWO!

During the tasting I admired an unusual bottle behind the bar. There wasn't much of whatever the spirit was left and it got polished off making our drinks. At the end of the tasting the bartender presented me with the bottle as a souvenir. Sooooo sweet!

Still in Costa Maya. Still primo weather we're having.

Actually, at this time there was a hurricane on the Pacific side of Mexico and a tropical storm not far from us. ;) I whine about the weather but, honestly, Tracey & I would loooove to sail near a hurricane so we had no problem with the rainy day at all.

Tracey stood out on the verandah and casually had his arms stretched up holding onto this beam. I said, "Oooooh, betcha can't do a pull-up anymore!"

He did several, actually. I have never in my life at any age or weight done a pull up. Ever. I was impressed! :D

As we were leaving Costa Maya.

Angry seas. Should be a fun night.

I did very little editing to this so you can see what it was like.

It was a bit of a rock 'n roll-y kinda night. Not as wild as I would've thought but we got some good motion going on. Which I LOVE. Laying in bed watching movies we heard and felt the occasional thud which was the bow of the ship slapping down on a wave or a wave slapping the side of the ship. It was neat.

Quick dinner at Cabanas, I think. No real effort to do much of anything aside from ordering treats from room service for picnicing as per our new usual. :p Life is good. :joyfull:

That Barracuda was enormous ... YIKES! I think I would have tinkled ;)

Your pictures are great!!

To this day I can't do a pull up ... I have no upper body strength. You'd think with all the lugging of laundry & grocery bags for a family of 5 I would have some muscles!! I'm a weakling .. meh!

Can't wait to read/see more :)

It was so good to meet you too! I really figured that we would bump into you again but we didn't!
We had a great cruise and it sounded like you did too! I was so happy when my husband said we could book another one! Cruising is the best!
Can't wait to read more. Your trip reports are always so good!

Yep, the barracuda was crazy big. The pictures are so faint because it was prob'ly a good 20-30 feet away from me. Still, it was BIG. No comment on whether or not I tinkled. :p

Thanks!

You aren't a weakling anymore than I am. We're just not built to do such mindless things as pull-ups. That was always my question in PE class. Do pull-ups. Why? With good reason, I'm more likely to. LOL!

I thought we'd bump into y'all again, too. :( I hope we didn't talk ya to death. Your hubby was very cool. I was so thrilled to not be the only anti-formal celebrants. LOL!

Cruising is awesome. So relaxing.

I have to edit more pics before I can post more but I'm working on it. Was up until like 3am last night posting. Tracey wasn't so amused considering he had to get up at 4:45.

I know it's blurry. Well, what I wanted a pic of is blurry. The spots of dirt on the van window look pretty good. This would be Caymanian for "Exxon". Prob'ly doesn't mean much for the rest of the world but, hey, it funds the fun for me, people.

I´m totally loving your TR. I need to get ,y butt on one of those DCL Ships one day. So cool that you get to do it every once in a while and what an awesome way to celebrate your anniversary. Keep the fun coming.

A little piece of info about the ESSO pic: EXXON actually only exists as a gas station brand name in the US. ESSO is the brand name for the stations that belong to ExxonMobil everywhere outside the US (They use both Esso or Mobil). ;)
