DD has been there 4 times already (and only 3 years old). We have flown all 4 times. 10 mos old was great. Tylenol always knocked her out, and she was teething - so we made out well. 22 mos wasn't as good, but not bad - she was able to be occupied with the various things I brought so we were okay. 30 mos old is a totally different story. I don't know if it is because we flew at night - but she screamed from take off to 1/2 hour before landing. Nothing would calm her. Then at 34 months, we had already had the flights booked prior to the trip from he!!, so we crossed out fingers and flew out! Going she was great - all excited. Coming home, again a night flight, the flight was delayed 2 hours so she got antsy at 9 pm in the airport, but got on the plane, and with every other toddler, went to sleep. So it's hard to say how they are going to be! You have a 50/50 chance either way!
As for the airport itself, we never have a problem with Security. We even leave out of Newark and have no problem. Usually because we fly out first thing in the morning going - so the lines aren't bad. TSA is really good too, they put us down on the end and tell us to take our time. DD has no problem because she knows she is going to Disney! Coming home isn't a big deal for some reason.
As for car-seats - don't bring them. My best flight was the last one when we decided to trip a special seat-belt that is available on the internet. We used it for a little bit, but she was so well behaved outside of the special belt and the car seat - so from here on in, I am leaving the car seat home. We use Magical Express - so it's no big deal. When you use Mears to go off site, they won't let you use the carseat anyway.
I say all this as I am now 9 weeks away from our next trip - which I will be all stressed out about regarding her flipping out. Oh well.....it's a trip to Orlando - it's too be expected. If it's not my kid, it's someone else's!
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!
