Trip Report Hurry back... Hurry back... (Now a trip report!)

Its Happening The Office GIF by NBC
That's right! Baby's first "post" (? perhaps peri-) pandemic Disney trip. When? Why, during the absolute brutal heat of August, of course! Details are subject to change because technicallyyyyyy my time off hasn't yet been approved however... I booked everything anyways 😛. At the moment, looking at a stay at Pop! and will be hitting up Epcot, MK, and MGM/DHS (?). And I must be honest with you. I really must...

Yes I... I....

I'm trying to get Boo Bash tickets. Yes, Ms. I Will Never Pay for An After Hours Event is attempting to pay for an After Hours Event. But as you can see, it sure ain't working! So that is up in the air right now because I got bored calling over and over again. Honestly feel like I'm spending more money than usual but rationalizing it by saying "ohhhh but I haven't been in sooooooo long". And if I'm being ENTIRELY HONEST, the big allure for Boo Bash is more Haunted Mansion time lol.

How the heck does one get a boarding group for ROTR these days? What's the freshest strategy? Also I have no dining reservations because I can't decide where I should eat/if it's worth sitting down for a real meal. Any recommendations?

It sure has been a while (I was kinda too bummed out to read the forums without being able to go), so hi everyone!!!

Wouldn‘t USD 28 buy a few Mickey bars? Or dole whips? Or popcorn? (Just sayin’ 😉)
You are absolutely correct and I have cancelled and rebooked because 28$ is 28$ and MONEY IS REAL!!!

What is the point? What to do at Disney for a day without park tickets....maybe Beaches and Cream for a No Way Jose? Try a TS restaurant outside of the parks without it limiting your ride time. Oh wait....we're supposed to talk you OUT of adding an extra day. Um....no point at all....there's nothing to do at Disney outside of the parks. Did that help?
YOU ALMOSTTTT got me but I think l've decided not to add another day though it kills me.

See I'm so hesitant to leave the park because my whole thing about being anti-TS is that it takes away valuable ride time LOL. One day I will go to beaches and cream because the no way Jose sundae sounds like it was created specifically with me in mind
Try and not be a slave to "ride time", even if you are not able to visit frequently. You limit your experience when it's confined to "how many rides can I squeeze in today".

Relax, enjoy the atmosphere, soak in the absence of reality, ...take pleasure in the details, take pleasure in what makes WDW such a desirable destination. Ride count is just a number.

🤷‍♀️ I feel like that’s a matter of preference. If her priority is rides, then “ride time” is more important than eating at a sit-down restaurant or soaking in the atmosphere. I’m the same way when I go @tonystark 😁

but... but the stats 😢😢😢. jk, I have always been a bit of a park commando and while I am attempting to change that up a bit, dang it if the desire to ride peoplemover 300 times isn't winning out in terms of appeal. we'll see what happens when I get there! I definitely appreciate your perspective.

I think I'll likely keep the 2 reservations I've got so far, but I've dropped mamma melrose because tbh... (you can imagine theatrical whispering here) I don't even like DHS all that much. I'm hoping that the new Star Wars stuff will change that for me... but if not, I don't want to be stuck there until 2:30 in the afternoon if I've wrapped up all the things I want to do/see by 12. hopefully that won't be the case though!

WOW Y'ALL. I have a lot to say and a lot to show you! Honestly, I nearly cancelled this trip even though I was in dire need of a fix. The Delta variant threw a wrench into everything and I would not be surprised if I end up with COVID given how busy the parks were, BUT... I'm coming from South Florida where COVID is just as bad as Orange County, and I'm fully vaccinated. I knew in my heart that my free Dolly Parton merch would do the best it could against any passing virions and that's all I could ask of it. I masked up when required and outside during the evening/night and sometimes even during the day when I was feeling like a lunatic in crowded areas with a heat index going up as high as 106. Then tropical storm/depression/weakened group of storm cells Fred started to form and I began to wonder if perhaps this was another sign... A sign to add on Saturday the 14th and go up a day early, that is! (I ultimately didn't do this).

So, the night before the 15th, hesitant and more than a little anxious, I laid my little head down on the pillow and vowed that I would make the best of this trip and
  1. Not get heatstroke
  2. Have some fun
  3. Ride Haunted Mansion as many times as I felt like.
My alarm was set for 6 am and I wanted to get out of the house by 6:30 (I can get ready pretty dang quick when I want to), as I said I would be arriving to Pop! at 9am. Lo and behold my brain woke me up at 5 am and I laid there until 6 and then got up. I think I ended up backing out of the driveway at 6:38 and let the musical stylings of Taylor Swift and Harry Styles carry me away up the interstate. I made good time and pulled up to Pop! a little after 9:20 AM. I turned off the car and picked up my phone (I'm a good noodle, I don't text and drive!) and saw...
IMG_9015.PNG

A little confusion at first (both texts were sent at 9:18 so what is the truth!!) but I decided to go check out the room if I could. Can I just say that I love going direct to room - I did not visit the front desk at all during this trip and it was super nice to just put my magic band against the lock and step into the room. We all know what a Pop! room looks like, but in case you've forgotten...
tempImage6x8DQA.jpg

Looking good! Walking in to find the TV on with the music playing was a nice touch - though my plastic wrapped remote was a bit busted (the buttons didn't work very well. Perhaps from their intensive cleaning? I digress). I passed the adjoining room door and tested the handle (locked phew).
tempImagepwWgpf.jpg

Clean! Unlike my last stay at Coronado where there was mysterious slime on the bathroom floor (likely spilled cleaning product), I did not slip and nearly die walking into the bathroom this time.
tempImageocwLx3.jpg

The mirror passes muster. Illuminations stan until I die (I saw a few of my fellow stans during my wanderings around the park). With everything deposited, it was time to move on.
tempImagetByy68.jpg

Oh hang on let me get the door for you. There, after you...

It was HOT outside, and I was headed to EPCOT, which technically didn't open until 11AM. I actually had the psychotic longing to hop on a bus to MK, stare at it through the turnstiles, and then get on the monorail to EPCOT, but I didn't do that. On my voyage, I passed this fun housekeeping room.
tempImageXZ6QLi.jpg

My wanderings took me.... here....
tempImage4YyJe4.jpg

I swore to you all that I would not ride the Skyliner. I figured I would take the bus... without realizing that they reduced bus service to EPCOT and DHS (of course they would, why would they spend the money when they could just chuck me onto a swinging death trap??? A valid argument, Mr. Chapek, sir.)
tempImagenH23XS.jpg

I stepped aboard with my own gondola (ride-vehicle? cabin? car?) to myself, which was nice, and began to swing my way over to Caribbean Beach.
tempImagebRKNXK.jpg

The face of someone who was prepared to fall to her death into alligator-infested waters if the Skyliner gods willed it. But they did not will it, and I was soon stepping foot onto solid ground once more, only to get on another one! Also LOL at that line on the inside brim of the hat... salt from sweat? Maybe so! But how would it get so far across the brim... anyways...
tempImageFdOuWe.jpg

I love this EPCOT-Skyliner poster. It was giving me SSE vibes. The line to EPCOT was much longer than the line from Pop! to anywhere, but the continual loading of the gondolas sped things along.

I got onto my next gondola with a couple celebrating their honeymoon. Naturally, the guy was hacking up a lung the entire ride. We were all wearing masks and there was a breeze but OF COURSE AT THE LITERAL VERY BEGINNING OF MY TRIP during my first interaction with humans, something anxiety inducing has to happen because that's just how life goes for me :)
tempImageCF0I9Y.jpg

WEEEEEEE passing over CBR while screaming internally but look, it's SSE!!! And Ellen's Energy Adventure - so glad they are finally updating that ride and giving it the massive show building it deserves :)
tempImageQAHNz5.jpg

Passing by the Riviera... Maybe one day... Probably not LOL now that we have to pay to have FP... (I'll get to my thoughts on that by the end of this report but you can bet that's a big ol' negative visceral reaction from me!)
tempImagezFXDvT.jpg

Just thinking about the little poop bags stored in there in case of emergencies. Fortunately, I did not need to use them 😗
tempImageq7oLyi.jpg

Passing over a fun roadway! Would I prefer to fall here or into alligator-infested waters? Hmm... Food for thought.
tempImageM58EqP.jpg

LOL this angle makes the new part of the France pavilion look so cheap. I really hope they add some theming so riding the Skyliner doesn't give you this grim view for forever, but.... I doubt they'd do that. It was once again time to disembark and kiss the ground. According to my time stamps, I was off the Skyliner by 10:14 am. I still needed to activate my tickets, and thought I'd be able to get through security pretty fast and mill around with everyone else in the International Gateway. Little did I know...
tempImageJsm5rh.jpg

Yeahhhhh they were holding everyone in front of security! My plan was foiled. But not for long!
tempImagexHOdrv.jpg

By 10:26 I was in the International Gateway. Security was so FAST with the new scanners, and unlike every time I've gone to Disney in the past 5 years or so, I did not get pulled aside! As I walked through IG, CMs were telling folks that the fastest way to get to Frozen and Test Track was to bear left at the fork. I don't listen to instructions because I'm defiant like that, so I decided to hook right to get to France, with about 2 other people while everyone else booked it towards WALLCOT.
tempImagejpIRHn.jpg

This is heinous. Even setting the side that I'm an Illuminations stan until I DIE, I cannot get over how ugly the barges are for Harmonious. If this show somehow blows everyone away, I might be willing to forgive. I sent this pic to my friend so that I could whine and moan to someone, and she replied with "I don't see a dazzling fountain". She is right. You just see some ugly barges... Boo.
tempImageEmIiaA.jpg

Uh oh spaghettios, I got held up again! At 10:28 outside of the France pavilion. Some disgruntled guest asked the CM guarding the stanchions when they would open, the CM replied "It's up to the duty manager. It could be 10:30, 10:45, 11:00..." The disgruntled guest did an about face and promptly disappeared, perhaps to kill time by joining the hoards headed towards Future World? Not I, though, I stood there and waited until 10:31, which is when the stanchions were rolled aside and I was free to proceed.
