It is even presumptuous that things will be open so early on Friday. It may not have as much rain as Ian, but it is going to have flooding and this is a more direct central FL hit.

Friend with a hotel in south Georgia said it has gotten fully booked

Not surprised if booked hotels selling for higher rate. Saw online United jacked up the rates on one way fare from MCO to NYC. 3 days ago the fare was $600, he paid the current fare of $1200 , must be those hurricane fares. Good for your friend. Weather channel reporting all hotel rooms in Jacksonville are full. What the guests are paying to escape harms way might be a bit of an increase.

I think after being holed up in a hotel room during the storm , some guests need to comfort themselves with stiff drinks at Disney Springs.

Yeah...that does not outweigh the safety of CM's. That is an awfully quick security sweep for a Category major storm likely hiting the property in the wee hours just before this.

We don't know what Thursday will bring but, UOR is not closing earlier than WDW tomorrow.....

Nope, they aren't for guests in the theme parks. UOR ultimately is closing earlier with a hard close at 2PM. Disney Springs, as I suspected will not close that early. Also, CM's are going to have quite a trek home. (backstage at Disney property is the longest process to leave. If you have worked at MK you know this for sure) But why even consider Thursday?

1. If it happens.

2. All of their CMs they will need have the means and live north of property. Literally thousands of CMs live in areas south.(The people who will be expected to come in tomorrow on roads while Emergency services are telling people to not leave their homes after the storm unitl given clears)


You can't judge even that close to where it is hitting yet. There is a lot of time to shift all sorts of ways.

St. Pete yesterday to north of Sarasota today isn't much of a shift to the south. And the first public advisory on Saturday from the NHC had landfall around Sarasota.

UOR is already planning HHN on Fri if everything goes perfect. Too soon to plan for HHN?

The fact that they are considering opening parts of Disney Springs on Thursday means people need to be ready to come in essentially on call if they can even get there safely. That is not what the area will need Thursday.

Universal's done the same antics before. Hurricane Ian, albeit was about a day and a half later, but they reopened with 2 rides in each park.

Yeah, they haven't confirmed an opening, but will do so if feasible.

They've been through this before and presumably have a decent idea of how quickly DS can bounce back from a hurricane.

2 PM close for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney Springs.

Yeah seems there was an adjustment. It came from a CM, if park closes at 2(he is at EPCOT) then his location I will close at 3.
