Hurricane Matthew

Funny - I told a friend at work to do that with his pool furniture...he looked at me funny for a second and then told me that was a good idea. Wasn't my idea - we've been doing that since I was a kid when we had a storm heading our way. That way we could fit the cars in the garage.

We've always done that. The pain is dragging them out from the deep end...

Does anyone else find it ironic that the only thing Disney opens up to its vacationing guests after the storm is a mall? I'm sure this is why most of them booked rooms on-site.
Not really. It's the easiest to open up right now because of staffing. If I was on the property and that is all they had to offer after sitting in a hotel room for almost 24 hours, I would be more than happy to go out and make the best of this evening there.

Regardless, accomodating displaced guests is no excuse for not having a properly turned room ready for check-in, nor should you have had to haggle to get the price differential credited back. That should have been a given considering how readily they were giving refunds for the Halloween party, for example.

I suspect that this is the real issue - for Disney to not willingly credit the price differential, under the circumstance? That is...just....no.

So it seems like Disney Springs won't be limited to just hotel guests when it re-opens tonight at 5pm, but that Disney is highly discouraging locals from coming out and clogging roadways

And also a lack of capacity at Disney Springs. They are struggling with cast members to staff the locations.

So WDW weathered the storm. Interested in how things look there. Anyway, I'm focused on Jacksonville right now.

Wow. Thanks for proving my point :)

Nowhere in that is one single criticism of Governor Rick Scott.
Nor is there attacking tourists, I'm glad you specifically searched my posts but failed to read what they were in to response to- So I'll fill ya in, people were saying that Disney should have warned them better.. It's our job to know the weather. I stand by that.. If you call it attacking, then that's fine.

Have you been to Haiti??? Have you seen photos?? Do you know anything about their government???
How about the east coast of Florida? Have you seen photos or visited there?
Do you think that we live in the same type of houses? Have the same corrupt government? Have dirt roads and unstable bridges on the Florida coast?

I can't help ya if that's what you think.
You're proof of my "some people have different ideas of fun" comment.
Living in the US didn't stop Hurricane Andrew from killing 65 or Katrina 1,800. Hurricanes are just as capable of causing widespread death and destruction here as anywhere else. The difference lies in the resources to recover post-storm.

I hope your folks will be okay. I'm waiting to hear from my brother how my niece is doing. She told me where she moved to in Jax, but I've forgotten. Too many mimosas at my daughter's wedding. :angelic:
