we're here at the grand Floridian. A lot the staff act like everything is perfectly fine. My husband wants to pack us and the 4 kids up, but we are scheduled until the 11th, with Halloween parties on the 7th and 10th and bippity on the 10th as well... I'm afraid we're going to lose all of that... This is our youngest' so first trip here.. So disappointing thinking about leaving early :(
Do not leave now. You will get caught up in the evacuation traffic. You have a safe roof overhead, food, and entertainment. Want to trade that for traffic jams, bad weather, and gas hunting? If you want visual reference, Google hurricane Rita Houston traffic. Look at image page. Compare to the Must do Disney channel.

We do the same for winter when we get feet of lake effect snow and can't get out for days. Every fall we stock up on canned goods, batteries, firewood, water and basic necessities. Better safe than sorry.
Do you have a basement?

I'm actually not joking.. That's the hardest part about storing much in Florida. I had a large trunk with 'hurricane supplies' in a guest bedroom.lol. For many years there just wasn't a ton of space to store things like that. My condo was a little over 2200 sq ft, so not terribly tiny..but not close to large.

Has he turned on the news!?!? Please don't leave. There is absolutely no reason to. You will be in miserable traffic. Stay put. It will pass by.

No basement. Sheesh, I don't stock for Armageddon. Three or four days supply for two people. Firewood I buy a winter's worth at once though. We have the fireplace going almost everyday.

Arrived tonight. Checked into our condo (offsite near 535 and 536). Publix was not too busy and still had everything you'd want. Planning on MK in the morning and afternoon tomorrow, and then we will see. Remaining flexible enough to decamp to Tampa area if need be.

Everything is perfectly fine. At this point you are safest exactly where you are.

I can see someone wanting a more relaxed outdoorsy atmosphere being a bit disappointed being sent to a concrete jungle. That said, HEY YOU ARE AT WDW! LOL.
Yea, I know that I have plenty to be happy about. You're definitely right! :) I know we were moved for our own safety but yes it is still a bummer...we paid for a cabin and we're sent to what feels like a road side motel and I had to fight for a credit even though I know the cabins cost more than this place and I should not have had to fight for that. If I paid for a $50 steak and you tell me "sorry, cant feed you the steak because it's tainted but here's a $5 burger so you don't starve" I shouldn't have to fight with you and 3 other people for and hour on the ohone while in MK to get my $45 back. And no....I wasn't expecting a credit for the part of my trip that was already past...just the part remaining. That is dissapointing and not "brattish" despite what the troll says.

Lol I didn't mean it like that.. Just thought maybe an extra freezer and refrigerator, and more storage space. Not a full on bomb shelter.lol

Disappointed? Sure I have, but complaining about something so petty, not really.
I'm sorry? Did I complain because I don't recall that. I said I hate it...I didn't go into details about what was wrong or why or what is broke or what is anything. I said I hate it. Period. Sorry that you're on personal offended by that. I don't think stating simply that you dislike something is complaining but whatever. You're literally no one to me and I'm done feeding you.

Don't leave. The day of the storm will be interesting for you all, and you'll talk about it for years to come. We spent Hurricane Charley at the WL, and we still talk about it. The next day things will start returning to normal.

They are acting like everything is perfectly fine because it is. Hurricanes happen and WDW is more than prepared for it. No one has ever died (or even been seriously injured) at WDW in a hurricane in its entire history. The place was built with this regularly occurring weather phenomenon in mind.

The worst that will happen is early park closure on possibly one day of your stay, if that. Oh and you may get kinda wet and want ponchos in the parks when it's raining, which can happen any time of the year.

The only people that should be rethinking are those who are scheduled to drive/fly in during the height of the storm. If you are already at WDW, forget about it - and just enjoy yourself and the lack of lines and think of the great story you will have when you get back.

We were moved to All Star Music. I'm trying not to be a brat about it but I HATE it. I even tried to upgrade to a deluxe and pay the difference but they said they had nothing available.

If you read your first post, without the explanation of the second, you'll understand my post.
And no, I'm not a troll, just concerned for my friends and family members who may be in a lot more difficult situation tomorrow than you are in.

I did read my first post. And again, I simply said I hate it. I didn't go on and on aND poo poo all over it. So I don't agree with you. I understand your concern for your family, I do. But people can still be dissapointed in things, hating their current situation and yet know that they're still much more fortunate than others. Doesn't make them a bad person.

Well, bippity is actually the 7th... There's no way to reschedule that for this trip... The weather reports say delve station like we've never seen.. My husband wants to head to Tennessee... I'm scared of getting caught in traffic. Would I-75 be bad?

The OSU Michigan game is our second day at WDW. We won't be at the parks..I'll be ordering room service and watching the tv. :)
A few years ago I planned my day around the LSU/UGA SEC title game. I watched it at the Poly lobby with a bunch of other guys while my fiancé was in Epcot lol. Even my wedding is planned around LSU Football lol. My fiancé wanted a fall wedding but she knew it couldn't be on a Saturday during a conference game so she picked out a Friday lol.

Fascinating. And these folks didn't fill up their tanks two days ago why? They think they live in Nebraska? Absolutely fascinating how some folks prepare, or don't prepare.
I'm going to guess you either don't live in a Hurricane area or you're new to a hurricane area?

Reports from Ocala that they are out of gas. Lines at station near the interstate here in Gainesville. I just topped off in town with no problem. This better not mess up football Sat- I have great seats for the game...
I hope the game is played Saturday too, but moved to a night game. Geaux Tigers!

How do we know this go fund me is legit?

Not suggesting it isn't but you are new here. Perhaps Red Cross donations instead?
Never the Red Cross!

Always red cross
Never the Red Cross!

The models all use a different algorithm and data feeds, but are most accurate in their predictions of < 48 hours. Outside of that, everything gets pretty hazy and can vary greatly. However, their accuracy has gotten a lot better in the last 10 years.
It might of improved from 10yrs ago but it's still not great.

Trust me, leaving is the worst thing you can do. Sit back, check out the high winds and have as much fun as possible.
