My wife and I were able to fill up this morning without much of a problem, but several of the people filling up next to me claimed that some of the large stations near me were out of regular.

It may have been you who pointed out the flaws or misleading advertising of "hurricane proof glass" prior to 2005. I will say with certainty that if I was still in Boca Raton, in a mid rise, smack dab in an evac zone, I wouldn't choose to stay this time.

But.. Also, if I was at Disney right now I would not leave. My advice to anyone there is stay put until it passes.

Reports from Ocala that they are out of gas. Lines at station near the interstate here in Gainesville. I just topped off in town with no problem. This better not mess up football Sat- I have great seats for the game...

We're in High Springs (just past the first exit north of the Santa Fe College exit/222). Not sure about right at the I75 exit or Alachua itself but here in High Springs we seem to be ok with the gas for now. Hopefully the worst of the rain/wind etc will be past us by the time the game starts. I'm just hoping the schools don't close Friday and make us go the following Friday when the kids are off for Gator homecoming cuz I have nonrefundable plans to spend the long weekend at disney doing mnsshp and the villains party with my granddaughter.

We were in Hurricane Charley in 2004 staying at CBR when it struck on our penultimate night there. Disney are extremely prepared for every scenario and had timelines and communication for everything it seemed. Obviously coming from England we were reliant on a flight home (Which ended up as a 56 hour delay ^_^). Yes there was disruption but everybody was safe.

Hopefully it doesn't hit as bad as they are predicting!

How close was the eye to WDW for Wilma?

We were at the WL for Wilma in 2005. We were at the MNSSHP the night before in the pouring rain and wind and overnight the storm blew through. By midday the next day Epcot was open, and then each other park later on as they cleared them.

SeaWorld will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6 and CLOSED on Friday, October 7. The park will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8

Thursday night through Saturday afternoon. At 2:30 pm, I was standing in MK (he he) when my Alarm app notified me that the alarm system was on low power. I then knew that power was back on. I left Tally early that Saturday morning for a Labor Day weekend trip primarily to see MSEP for the last time. The next day I was in Epcot and fatigue caught up with me. So I went back to the resort and took a nap in the A/C with the overhead fan going. I thought of those still without power in Tally.

Shortly after Midnight Thursday through mid-afternoon the following Tuesday. And then, just as I was putting my first hot dinner in days in the oven to cook on Wednesday, they took it away again at 7:00 pm for another 8 hours. Needless to say, that meal joined the rest of my frig in the trash barrel....

Had a holiday weekend trip to Universal scheduled, but had to cancel. Three trees fell on my street, trapping us until the guys with chainsaws on our street could cut them up enough to clear one lane. Still trees laying by the side of the road. Guess we'll decorate them for Christmas....

Would have gone to Universal, but my vet had no power and none of the other vets I called had power. Wasn't about to leave my cat in a dark un-air conditioned house while I was cooling myself at Uni. And I had to listen for several days to the loud beep, beep the battery on my garage door opener made until the battery died. But no damage to the house, for which I am thankful. But must admit I cried a little when I threw out pounds of steaks and wild salmon.

I worry for those along the East Coast. It's been 11 years and how many people have moved to Florida since Wilma in 2005? I was here for Kate in '85, so I knew what our trees do the the power grid in Tally.

Most of my heart is with the Buckeyes, a good portion of it though is with the Canes. I'm looking forward to the day when they are back on top of the ACC! Sorry, but I despise FSU, closely followed by the Gators, and rounding out my top 3 NCAA Hate would be the Wolverines. Completely jumbled, I know.lol

I'm with you on those reptiles...... Bunch of cowards for dropping the Canes from their schedule.

Remember the days when the winner of the UM/FSU game would play for the National Championship? Those were some excellent games. Well, except for Wide Right. Never should have done that rap video....

Yeah, don't think FSU will be state Champs this year.....

If the storm moves 50 miles to the west, then Orlando, and WDW, it squarely in its cross-hairs. If it moves 50 miles to the east Orlando will be spared the brunt of the storm, but... "It's better to be safe than sorry" - Advice that still holds true.

The big thing to remember regarding the gas is how long it takes to bring back up the electric service. On Long Island, NY, after Sandy four years ago there were widespread power outages for in some cases several weeks. We ended up going to odd/even rationing; if you were in in emergency services (i.e. police, fire, hospital staff), they had specific locations you could use with proper id. It became kind of primeval; someone you knew would say there was gas in such and such a station, and you'd run out of the office to try and get on line. Or, you'd be driving to or from work, see a line, and like a lemming just jump on it! They even started to escort tanker trucks making deliveries, as there were a couple of hijackings! And let's not talk about the station robberies...credit card networks were also down, so if a station was pumping on generators it was cash only. Didn't take long for those stations to have police on site as security. And this was middle class suburbia!

I'll occasionally check my ESPN app for the score. I'm back at WDW 10/29-11/4.

We plan our vacations around the season. The reason we didn't cruise this coming weekend is because of the Miami game. Didn't think UNC would be an issue because the last time we lost to UNC, if I remember, was in '98. And we still played in the National Championship game, loosing to Tennessee.

Who thought we'd be 0-2 in the ACC 5 games in....

Yeah, agree. I think most of the resorts can handle a storm. But fill up the bathtub, just to be safe. Not for drinking, but to flush the toilet.
