Hurricane Isaac

The weather reports here are saying that the storm is going to blow to the west. We will see rain and high winds in the Orlando area, but nothing major. The latest report called for winds of 30mph and periods of thunderstorms for the next couple of days. The worst of the storm is supposed to blow west of Tampa. Hope this helps! Sending pixie dust to keep you safe!

Currently, we have scattered showers throughout areas of Clearwater this afternoon. We just got back from running some errands are it was raining in some places but not others. The sky definitely has some nasty dark clouds though. I'm on the coast though so it should be a little better inland at WDW.

Well, the models keep shifting west. We have 2 Coast Guard guys renting our house in Port Arthur (Texas). Hubby & son were over there today to take care of the yard and they said their command is already prepping. Hubby also said the Walmart over there was a mad house, people already loading up with supplies. Our Walmart hasn't gone crazy yet. We're in Kemah, Texas. Still, I went & got a bunch of water, canned food crap, etc. It's stuff we use anyway. Just not fun stuff. We'll be watching closely and continuing to pull all the supplies, equipment, tools, etc. out of their storage locations. Horrible-canes suck.

We had light rain earlier. No big winds. No lightening. Nothing atypical. I don't think well see anything atypical, either. It will just last longer than usual.

Like the guy on TV categorized it, "Hurricane None." it doesnt even appear that it will be too tropical stormy. We are lucky. So many others weren't...and may not be.

Fingers crossed.

Good to hear that Walt Disney World is faring just fine. I live in SW Florida and it's not too bad, The Weather Channel and miscellaneous other forecasts I looked up online made me expect more. It's pretty windy outside and the sky is grey, but other than that it's just like any other storm we've been having for the past few months. There's a very light drizzle, I didn't even realize it was raining until I looked out my window.

I don't think it's a Category 1 yet, it's still supposedly a tropical depression or storm. It's supposed to become one when the worst of it gets here, and it has yet to be seen whether it'd get stronger or not once it hits the Gulf of Mexico (though I can only assume that it will, unfortunately). I can only hope that it doesn't strengthen too much for the sake of everyone that had to go through Hurricane Katrina in '05. The same thing pretty much happened, we got a little bit of her while Louisiana, Mississippi, and all the other states around FL got the worst.

Interesting. I don't know what it's like in Orlando, but everything seems to be fine over where I am. Aside from being very windy, the sun's out and it hasn't rained since last night. I can understand why they'd all rather be safe than sorry, though.

For the last several days the National Hurricane Center has given the UKMET (Unitied Kingdom Meteorology) model undue weight in predicting the path of Issac. As a result, the forcast path was skewed much too far to the east. The UKMET model had proven in the past to be very reliable but something happened with this storm that the UKMET couldn't figure out. They're going to have to throw that model in the bin until the experts figure out what went wrong.

And it still is the furthest to the east model as of the latest model projections.

The UKMET has been a very accurate model during the past two years. I don't understand why it went so wonky on this storm. I'm going to follow along with the explanations from the weather experts to see if anyone can make it clear what went wrong.

God... My town ( Wellington) is a freakin swimming pool, on the bright side everyone was out in the roadways on rafts and swimming in parking lots.

( though I did get a picture next to a brand new Mercedes in 4 feet of water, the funny thing was that my big A$$ truck faired fine ;)
