Hurricane Isaac

Sitting north of New Orleans waiting to see where Isaac is going to finally land. Our weather people have had Isaac going all over the place. Right now they think it is going to hit New Orleans. At least I'm north of New Orleans. Wish I was at Disney rain or no rain.

This was a non-event here. Nothing worse than normal. I don't think my cat even ran under the bed. And if Scaredy isn't under the bed, everything is fine in our neck of the woods.

Praying for the people along the gulf coast.

I hope that is all we get here in Louisiana. I might have a hard time fitting under my bed. HA! HA!

I'm in upper Jefferson Parish (about 9 miles from New Orleans). Been windy and rainy as expected, and hoping that the electric stays on. Good luck to all of the other Gulf Coast residents on this site.

Hi neighbor, I'm on the northshore about 12 miles from the Causeway. A little rain and a little wind, but that is it today. I don't think we are going to get it a lot til tomorrow. I'm with you, I just don't want to lose electricity. I'm not a good pioneer. Good luck!!!

In Thibodaux, and we're getting pretty consistent wind and rain. It looks like it's just gonna sit on top of us for a while. I'm really worried about the wind blowing over trees as the ground is so saturated already from the rain we've gotten in the last 10 days.

Hadn't been on the site in the last couple of days. It sure is nice to look at something other than the news...

Isn't that the truth

In Covington we are getting gust of rain and wind. Nothing really bad. but then it seems to be stalled over Houma.
Of course we are across the lake from New Orleans and 12 miles from Lake pontchartrain. This is a strange storm and I still don't think the weather people have a handle on what it is going to do. I want to be at the MK right now.

Good to hear that Isaac is so far being indecisive about what it wants to do, LOL. Nah, but seriously, I'm glad nothing bad has happened anywhere that he's hit these past couple of days. Hopefully he'll just wade away to nothing by the end of the week.

Had the eye pass directly over us earlier today. The storm seems to have dissipated faster than folks thought, because we were being told that the second half of the storm would be the worst part. The Mississippi gulf coast seems to be getting beaten to a pulp. They've had heavy wind and rain for the last 16-20 hours.

For people familiar with south Louisiana: It seems to have passed, but Madisonville, LA on the shore of lake Pontchartrained flooded. A dam on Lake Tangipahoa at Percy Quin State Park is on the verge of breaking. Places in LaPlace, LA flooded and last night they were evacuating people to Alexandria, LA. Down in Plaquemines Parish there are problems on the westbank of the Mississippi River from about Myrtle Grove down. Tropical storm or catagory 1 has caused a lot of flooding that I don't think the people expected.

As things would go, we did lose power around 8:20pm Tuesday night (August 28th), and it didn't get restored 6 nights later, Monday night Sept. 3rd. But no flooding, which we are grateful for.

Glad you were lucky and didn't flood. We didn't flood either. Sorry about the electricity because it did get hot.
