I know how you feel...I retired last MAY (2011) from the military..I had a revolving 60 days of leave time accrued...plus 13 federal holidays off a year...once I became a Government Service employee I earn 4 hours of leave a pay period..plus 4 hours of sick time so about 2 days a month..takes some adjusting..I can earn time off awards..usually 16 hour awards wich are great

Difficult adjustment. I still get 6 weeks and I just don't know what to do with it all now that he doesn't have the time. Last year I got Yoga certified and was away for the month. I am at a loss of what to do this year...lol...

LOL! The "sickness" comes on a Friday pre-hooliday for us...Makes for a nice Disney weekend! How did Courtney do?

Upstate lost 2-1...had the lead until the 70th minute..Courtney played very well..had a fantastic shot..the Charleston Southern Keeper used every inch of her body to just deflect it...Court probably scores 9 times outta 10 on that..just a fantastic save ....I was very proud to see her come on the field as a Division 1 Collegiant Athlete..it was the first home game for Upstate...they beat VMI last friday night in Virginia in double overtime..Upstate is a young team...at time they have 5 freshmen on the field...easily the best recruiting class Upstate has ever had..headlined by the 2 Courtney's..Mine and COurtney Reilly..who is as good as my daughter..

Right now, we're watching tropical storm Isaac and wondering what he will do. There is no way to know what he'll be doing Sunday. He just got moved up to Tropical Storm, but we don't know if he'll advance to Hurricane or what, much less where hell be positioned. Right now, they're thinking the Carribbean island or Cuba. Look again in the morning, who knows.

It would be nice if upper management (e.g. Mother Nature, God) would clue us in on who will get promoted and where they'll be working. But they never do.

I keep my extra gallons of water in the garage. They've all moved down to about 2/3 gallons over time, lol. I've started replacing them. You never know what August and September will bring.

Jim Cantore just did a detailed update. One model predicts it will head NW up toward FL :( and the other had it headed W across Cuba and toward the Yucatan :) (not that I wish a hurricane or tropical storm on anyone).

It's approaching Martinique and Barbados now (the islands, not the buildings at Caribbean Beach).

Go anyway. We were there for Hurricane Floyd in '99 (1st time they ever closed the parks). The storm turned north and generally was just a rain event. However, since Disney "hurricane proffed" the parks and sent cast members home to take care of themselves & family, all the parks were closed with the exception of Animal Kingdom which was opened to resort guests only. Was actually fun - only lost a 1/2 day in the parks. Besides, the rain will probably keep the crowds down.

In 2004, the parks were closed mid-day as hurricane Charley came roaring through Orlando. That night, lights could be seen all over property, and by the next morning, parks were open and looked in good shape. Of course, there were areas that needed to be closed off because of toppled trees (TSI, for example), but all in all - parks were in really good shape.

Resorts had activities and entertainment while the hurricane was approaching as well. Still a really good time.

Disney does an amazing job of clearing debris and cleaning stuff up after a hurricane. After Charley, within a day, if it hadn't been for the downed tree here or there, you'd have never known he came through if you were solely on the WDW property.

The rest of the city looked like hell with trees, debris and garbage strewn about, but the WDW property was amazing.

I live just south of West Palm Beach and we are watching Isaac. This Thursday should be a hurricane. Right now looking at Early Monday morning hitting around Miami area as a cat 1. Once it gets over land it will weaken fast. By the time it gets near Orlando is would only be a rain storm lasting a few hours. We evacuate to Disney when we need to leave. Being Orlando is in land you won't get a lot of wind. A cat 1 hurricane is nothing more than a windy rain storm. We don't even board up unless its a strong 2 or more. Shouldn't change your plans on coming just watch the airlines being effected. It will be long gone by the 31st!

As Issac may become a hurricane and head towards Florida, I am wondering what the parks are like when a tropical storm or hurricane are in the area of WDW. I know that these storms bring plenty of rain and wind and are the parks pretty empty? I am heading down to WDW later next week and am wondering what to expect and prepare for.
