Hurricane Irma

Good evening everybody!

I want to reach out to my fellow WDWMagiceers/Magicians/"Disnerds"/"DisAddicts", etc and wish them the very best as they deal with Hurricane IRMA. I've mentioned time and time again that I'm in Fort Myers, Fl which is pretty much in the crosshairs of IRMA. I hope if you're north of Fort Myers that you are rushing preparations to completion. IRMA has weakened to a Cat 3 storm as she's been spending a lot of time over Cuba today. But, the weakening should be short lived as she crosses the Florida Straits and skirts up the Florida west coast. Right now, I'm hunkered down in Naples with my wife, my kids, and my mother. We just had a feeder band come through with some heavy rain and gusty winds up to 45 mph. The main storm system is still south of us near Key West. We are, like the rest of you, preparing for the worse, but hoping for the best. Hope to see everyone come out the other side of thing like rock stars! Be safe everyone!

-Jason :)
Hope you and your family will be safe and are on as high a ground as you can be. They are predicting up to 8 feet of storm surge in Naples.

Actually he has moved and sat up few times. The shocking thing is how many people walk right by and don't make eye contact.
Update a good guy helped homeless guy.

Looks like the lights went out on the southernmost point cam.
So much water coming in.

Has anyone heard or seen news/feeds on the other Keys?

Just turned on TWC. Storm surge and wind predictions for Naples are insane. Just die already Irma!!

Weather Channel has been showing a cam from Duval in the Keys since I came home. It recently became hard to view anything - hazy with the rain and lights that were still on.

They interviewed people at mco tonight. They are required to leave. Airport is shuttling people to shelters (yikes). Or local hotels but many are booked so shelters are only available.

Man, that sucks. I can't imagine getting to MCO, thinking you'd make it out on that last flight and then getting stuck - possibly even without your luggage?! - and being sent to a shelter.
