Hurricane Irma

Where are you getting this information?
Weather channel is seeing the eye more to east and not NW. But of course they have to wait until the next update from the planes flying through the eye.

UPDATE - they officially have it going North now.

Update 2 - Miami crane just collapsed and guess what Miami is further from hurricane then Orlando will be. It's not looking good.

This photo doesn't do this shot justice. Waves and water in Downtown Miami are crazy right now.

The wind speed is increased between the highrises due to something called the Venturi effect, so cranes are more vulnerable in Miami than they would be in Orlando.

So, even though WDW says the parks will reopen Tuesday there is a possibility they won't beable too if Duke has massive power outages in Orlando (else where) they have to deal with and can't supply WDW for several days. Anyway, hope that doesn't happen for people on property now

Power outages are usually due to the transmission system... not their ability to generate power. So that means areas are impacted... but if you have a high power hookup near the mains... you (like a Disney) are less likely to be offline. Disney will still likely be bound by what is happening in the region tho... because of the need to staff everything and cleanup. It's hard to run an operation of tens of thousands of employees when huge portions of your worker base are unable to get to work on time. And it's unfair to the workers too

I understand that effect my point was another poster was saying Orlando is not in trouble. They are in trouble and there are going to be hurricane force winds coming through tonight.

Agree, but hopefully they don't get too scared by what they're seeing in Miami right now. Between the high rises, sea level, storm surges, and waves- that's creating a much worse effect than the wind speed alone.
