Max

Thanks Max! Glad you are here.

I'm here!!! Glad you were able to work it out in order to leave earlier for the trip!!! I've heard some bad reviews of Mears lately. We all know roaches are in Florida, but we don't want to see them on the bus to WDW!!!

Right? You've heard snakes on a plane, well Mears gives you roaches on a bus. New fear unlocked! 😂
I did pull my feet up for the ride.

Tuesday, August 29th:

Despite not getting to sleep until 3 am, we were still awake before 8:30. I checked on the storm again. It was looking like we made the right decision on flying in early.

Today was a bonus day, so we were just going to go with the flow. I checked out the app and got us a reservation at our favorite breakfast spot, Trattoria al Forno. We took our time getting ready before grabbing an Uber to the Boardwalk. We love the breakfast here so much and the highlight is this right here.

If you are an iced coffee fan, you NEED to get here for this. It's the best on property in my opinion and the recipe is unique to this restaurant. We each had two! You can even get it spiked, if you wish.

The food is great also!

I got the breakfast pizza and Josh got the caprese omelet with potatoes and a load of bacon. Both were delicious!

One of my favorite things in the world is Chinaware. I have my great grandmother's china, as well as my grandmother's crystal glasses and still searching for the right cabinet to display it. I admired this throughout my meal.

After breakfast, we decided we would walk around and see where the day took us. First, we explored the Boardwalk.

These guys were in the lobby cutting up! They were ringing the bell and dancing, so funny!

We spotted a fine arts store, so popped in there.

Then Josh wanted to stop into his favorite resort, Yacht Club, so we walked around the lake.

Josh pointing out that he is, indeed, in Florida.

After exploring Yacht and Beach a bit, we headed to the skyliner and sailed over to the Riveria. Ok, I love Disney lobby smells, but I feel like Riveria overdoes it. It was very strong, like walking into a Bath and Body Works, give you a headache kind of strong, but maybe it was just me. I couldn't stay in there too long, so back to the skyliner we went, stopping for some photos along the way.

We went to Hollywood studios and transferred to a bus before heading to the next resort we would tour.

Tues cont.
We took the bus over to the Gran Destino Tower, where we would be checking in the following day. We took some time to explore the resort and grounds. It really is such a pretty place.

From here, our exploration adventures continued. We hopped on a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then took a boat over to Fort Wilderness! No photographic evidence, but the boat ride over is very scenic and lovely. We even passed right by the Wilderness Lodge where @Tuvalu and Woody were lounging by the pool.

Once arriving to the Fort, we took a short walk and reached or destination.

If you ever have a free day and want to do something different and FREE, this is a great activity. Even when hot out, the stables felt cool and shaded. There's a nice cold bathroom and water fountain and of course, the main attraction. The gorgeous horses!

This was the wedding harness room.
IMG_0815.jpg

There is also the 1907 Dragon Calliope. Walt Disney purchased it for Disneyland. You can press a button and hear the music as well. Super cool!
IMG_0816.jpg

It was feeding time while we were there.
IMG_0818.jpg

We also saw the pony room and little's can do pony rides. Some cast members are moving about and are happy to answer any questions. When we were leaving we saw this beauty getting a bath.

I really enjoyed this stop and definitely want to take Cam here. I think he'd really love it as well.

After our adventurous morning, we were ready for some lunch. Just as we walked out a bus pulled up to the little station there outside of the stables. We rode the internal bus and made our way up to the main station, I guess you'd call it? There we got on a bus to Disney Springs. We looked to see if any reservations interested us, but decided we would just do a quick service once there. We landed on Polite Pig which was a first for us.

I started out with a Sangria which was very good!
IMG_0820.jpg

I ordered the Brisket sandwich with waffle fries.
IMG_0822.jpg

Josh's entrée was the star of the show. He got the Fried Chicken Sandwich with mac-n-cheese. This was sooooo good! Josh ended up giving me half of it because I loved it so much! I will return for this again. The service was wonderful here as well. I was very happy with our choice for lunch.

IMG_0821.jpg

Where we were sitting, you could see the Bourbon Bar. Josh is a bourbon collector and has many bottles at home, so naturally as we were leaving, he wanted to check out what they had.

And this is where "Vacation Josh" emerged. So most days, Josh is very budget conscious, always wants to know prices of things, etc., but when we go on vacation, eventually "Vacation Josh" makes an appearance. He liked what he saw and decided we should sit at the bar and have another drink as he looked over the menu. Yeah....not the regular bar menu, but the premium menu.
IMG_0827.jpg

After about five minutes, he said what the heck, I'm going for it.... The bartender had to pull out a ladder to get it from the very top.
IMG_0823.jpg

IMG_0824.jpg

Yes, that is $250 for ONE OUNCE of Bourbon!

IMG_0825.jpg

Happy man! He said it was amazing. He works extremely hard, so I was happy he treated himself...kinda....😂

I stuck with another Sangria.
IMG_0826.jpg

Now that we were broke we went straight back to the room. :hilarious: J/K, we walked around a bit. I had to go to the Christmas store and get my ornament for the trip. Eventually we were ready for a nap and did head back to the resort. Since we had a later lunch, I was able to push our dinner reservation back, so rest and relaxation until then.

Glad that he decided to splurge; if not on vacation, then when?
