There are worse places to be sheltered in place 😎

And don’t factor in the costs.

After all, you are in WDW, if you factor in the costs, you ruin the whole experience.

It has to meet the same requirements as everything else. It’s Risk Category III so at a minimum it can handle 149 mph gusts. It’s not considered to be within a Wind-Borne Debris Region so it’s not required to have impact rated glazing for that reason, but other conditions would at least require safety glazing that will provide additional protection.
Is the same requirements for resorts? (i’m in one lol)

TECO’s website has so much traffic you can’t even check their outage map rn.
This is actually my most vivid memory of Katrina - the wind howling and the trees bending basically perpendicular to the ground. I was nearly ten. Scared the bejeezus out of me.
Fortunately it’s not that bad here in Lutz (just 20~ miles north of Tampa). We have huge viburnum protecting the sides of the house and they’re blowing like crazy but not too many of any branches falling.
They are so worried about what they’re going to go back to, I think the stress would be as likely to kill me as the storm. I’m sure the next 36 hours is going to feel like an eternity to them.
The worst part is they shouldn’t immediately rush back to their house. I’m pretty sure you shouldn’t use the freeways at all if possible so emergency repair crews can arrive. I can’t imagine how bad the wait is.

Similar but not quite as stringent. The components attached to buildings also have to been products which have been tested to ensure they are not easily blown off buildings. A big concern is items becoming wind-borne which is why Disney removed or tied down items such as furniture. Guests putting patio furniture in the hallways should probably be discouraged as they’re now impeding the means of egress in case people do need to leave their rooms.
