I was hoping I could make a quick value resort reservation. We live 2 miles from DAK, but we live in a manufactured home, so we’d be best off in a hotel given the storm. My husband is still a CM, so I thought we could get a good deal. Kinda bummed they suspended reservations though I understand it for the most part. Maybe I’ll call the cast line and see if they can still help us out.

I'd call. They've got to leave rooms available for guests staying in Ft. Wilderness & Copper Creek cabins and Poly bungalows to relocate to.

Looks like the outer bands are tickling the edge of the Everglades any minute now?

The keys are getting pretty wet now.

Unless there is a substantial speed up…theme parks are not a good idea Wednesday to Friday…maybe Saturday too.

Be careful…and remember the people that work at wdw have normal lives outside the polyester, concerns, and are not independently wealthy to serve anyone without care. They’re humans and have more at stake.
That’s what I call “The Stamps Doctrine”

Given how saturated the soil is right now after the insane amount of rain the last month, that's all it's going to take to start dropping trees and taking out power in large areas.

Yup. Not going to be a fun 48 hours.

Indeed the call center employee I talked to yesterday was on edge behind her mandated manufactured happy voice and she stated she was in Florida. Gave her well wishes and hoped she stay safe.

This is one of the main reasons why no additional reservations are being accepted. Staffing at call centers will be bare bones if staffed at all. As I mentioned in my previous post, please treat the cast members who are still working with extra kindness.

“With Hurricane Ian approaching Florida, Rosen Hotels & Resorts is offering discount rates to help those who are evacuating because of the storm.

The company has activated its Florida Resident Distress Rate at its Orlando-area hotels.

“Rosen Hotels & Resorts remains committed to the safety and well-being of all Floridians and will continue to put people over profit in times of need,” the company said in a statement.

The discount rates, which do not include taxes, are $69 per night for Rosen Inn International, Rosen Inn Closest to Universal, Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando and Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista; $99 per night for Rosen Plaza; $109 per night for Rosen Centre; and $119 per night for Rosen Shingle Creek.

While the distress rates are being offered, Rosen hotels, which are pet-friendly, while not charge an additional fee for pets. The hotels also offer free WiFi.”

Tonight, barring any major shifts, when I move my reservation to 2023 (just checked I can do that online) I don’t plan on calling about refunds on my 2 MNSSHP or Hoop reservations, I’m going to try to find an email or wait until at least Saturday to call.

I personally think, if this track holds, that there is going to be mass flooding in Orlando and that clean up is going to take longer then expected. I don’t see how getting 50% of the rain experienced in the past 3 weeks in less then 72 hours doesnt result in catastrophic flooding. You can’t just flip back to normal the next day. The only thing that has me waiting a little longer is models are continuing to curve east and that might result in the stall happening after the storm passes FL. We shall see, although if this comes to pass Ft Myers/Capd Coral will get massive damage.

During the Governors press conference they just said Venice in 35 hours and everyone is leaning towards the cone shifting right. There is the possibility of it crossing the state and coming back out in the Atlantic.

Some reports say it may follow 2004 Charley path. If you didn’t live through it one may not understand.
I was at Disney when Charley came right through. Pretty crazy. Next day my cousin, who lives nearby came to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge at a great rate. His job, wife’s job, their home and both kids schools had no power but Disney was essentially up and running the next morning around noon, so he figured he might as well be with us for a couple of days. WDW property seemed to be able to handle storms very well, much much better than surrounding communities.

Remember the storm surge is always worse South and East of the storm because wind in hurricanes travels counterclockwise, Venice landfall means there and points south get the horrible storm surge.

Never let a good crisis go to waste-----------------------UP-CHARGE !!!!!
If your stuck at our hotels.. be sure to take advantage of our lunch boxes.. sandwich..chips..all for 40.00!
I remember that from last time, made me sick. Of course people need to eat with restaurants closed..and it was a great idea to provide this but the price, which I can’t remember how much was crazy. The 40.00 is a guess..but not to far off I’m betting.

First time experiencing a hurricane in the central Florida area (Celebration) - Does anyone know how the area holds up during a hurricane impact?

Lived in South Florida all my life, weathered several storms (Wilma, Irma, etc.) and I've always assumed that Orlando is safer.
