Huge mistake building cars land in Florida

have nothing against cloning rides, it's a perfect business model. However, clone rides from over seas. Give both Cal. And Fl. Different rides and make those visits as unique as you possible can.

You want to build another cars land....build it over seas.
I think we all understand where you're coming from on this. :) I think the part you have to understand though is that for some people/families, a trip to California instead of Florida is as big of a stretch as a trip to Paris or Hong Kong instead of Florida. Not everyone in the states has the ability to visit both and often are "stuck" with whichever coast they are closest to. In otherwords, for many, the fact that certain things exist on both coasts has no baring on them. They will only ever see it at whichever one they get to visit. :D

Soarin' (Over California) is a direct film copy of it's West Coast incarnation and yet, even though it shows all California scenery and has nothing to do with the landscape of Florida, is wildly popular. An attraction certainly doesn't have to be based solely on where it's physically located to draw crowds.

No it doesn't but it wouldn't have been that hard to do a few more helicopter shots of the world and call it "soarin over the world" stick in the world showcase and you have a theme that fits the concept of the park.

I'm big on the extra little details. The ride tech was already built.

Look, it's possible if you crunch the numbers that for the most part, these parks are held up by the locals close to the parks.
If that is true, then yes copy away.

If the numbers suggest more revenue is brought in by those flying into the parks, then I would think a better business model would be to create a different experience at both California and Florida.

Give those flying in a choice on which state you want to visit for your next Disney trip.

I don't really mind clones. Sure, I would love to see something new and huge and cool coming to the studios. But, if it's a great attraction, bring it on.

By the way, I've been told that what is coming to the studios is NOT Carsland. They refused to actually tell me, but they did say that is not Carsland.

Personally, I hate clones. I get to visit all of the US parks on a regular basis and I am tired of clones. I wish that if they are going to duplicate the same ride on both coasts, they would make slight differences like both Haunted Mansion or Peter Pan have.

Exactly!! Why is the original poster making it sound like it would be doing some nightmarish disservice to the phsyical real Route 66?? Its a themepark attraction based on a movie, based on an actual area true, but please killing the mystic of the land (as he puts it) is a bit extreme.

We are talking about theme parks and fantasylands....I think we are allowed to inject a little hyperbole into the discussion. Makes it fun!

Honestly, I think the Californians would've been happy with just about any new, well done land. Their parks needed it. But I do agree that the whole Route 66 thing plays in.

I don't like Cars. I don't want Carsland. I'm happy it went to California.

Although another land would be nice, I'd much rather have what already exists be restored to its former glory. If Disney would just make what they have amazing, that would be more than enough. An increase of mediocrity isn't going to help them or us. Delight us with landscaping. Impress us with cleanliness. Welcome us with politeness. Entertain us with rides, shows and streetmosphere. Amaze us with firework spectaculars.

And for God's sake, bring back the Lights of Winter.

Make no mistake....Cars Land IS coming to WDW, and it'll be going into Hollywood Studios. (Check dotcom for a good article on that.) However, I think the time for Cars has now passed, particularly since Cars 2 was so poorly received and reviewed. But having said that, I have watched POV videos of Radiator Springs Racers and I would LOVE to see it brought to WDW --- and even if not based upon Cars, that ride appears to be a huge improvement over the similar-type ride, Test Track. I just don't know that we'd need an entire area devoted to Cars. If it was one of several Pixar-themed e-ticket attractions, that would be one thing.

I agree with you, but it did wonders to DCA's attendance numbers and made a ton of money. Having that been said, Disney would think that the same would happen in HS. Why can't they build something new and not copy Carsland :(

Actually, I had heard that DHS was going to get a Monsters Inc. roller coaster, and re-theme Honey I Shrunk The Kids Movie Set Adventure to be A Bug's Life.
