Yesterday hubby and son were going up the lift hill only to have the lights on when they got to the top.

hahaha, it's hilarious with the lights on. A Majorly humorous buzzkill.

I do love the really cheesy looking brown/grey carpet that you can see when the lights are on...

....on the SIDE OF THE WALLS.

I have never ridden with the lights on, but I am 6' 4" and can make out some of the structure while riding.

Thats part of the charm of Space Mountain, the fear of imminent decapitation. It's what keeps me comming back.

I'm 6'6" and was always scared when I was younger about losing fingers, head, etc. but I did ride it once when I was in high school with the lights on...ever since I've been better!

Has anyone ridden SM at Disneyland? They re-did the track...it's so smooth and perfect. I don't even really like riding SM at WDW...it KILLS my back!!! :dazzle:

I'm 6 foot 9 inches and my biggest concern is the fact that the lapbar fits inbetween my knees. Everytime I hit a bunnyhop I hang on for dear life. It does make the ride more exciting.

To me, riding SM w/ the lights on is, obviously, not as great when the lights are off- I'm only 5'5" and I feel like I'm going to hit my head when I see some of the structure above you . Can't wait to see what the refurb brings in 09-- I am looking forward to the surround sound like RnR.

.....Anyone else ever get that excited knott-feeling in your stomach when you are racing (and waving) to the other side as you get ready to go down the first hill???:lookaroun I do every time...

I do enjoy riding the TTA when SM has its lights on so you can see what all the back pain is for! A sometimes painful, but classic Disney ride!

I was just there in May. It was REALLY smooth! I've never been on SM at WDW, I've always chickened out, but since DL has two riders in a car, I felt more comfortable b/c I could hold on to someone LOL.

my roommate worked Space and said that if people are a certain height or taller, that it is very likely they can hit their hands on the structure...

I'm only 5'5" but I will never again ride WDW SM in the first car again. I did once and I thought I was going to die- I saw wood beams coming at my face  definitely not fun....

and yup... give me DLR's space anyday-the music, the track, the theming of the queue... it all wins hands down!

Sometimes when I ride the TTA the lights are on inside Space Mountain. It looks dull and boring and I'd be pretty upset if I had to wait 60 minutes and not have the full expirence.

Personally, I've never ridden with the lights on.

Isn't that a safety issue if the structures are so close to the track? Or does it just seem like they are? I haven't heard of any accidents on this ride before.

I really hope they make similar changes to SM at WDW...that would be great. The two person seating arrangement is nice...i can hold on to my 5'4" wife!!! :ROFLOL:

My DH is 6'5" 285 lbs and he said the lapbar fit between his knees as well. I don't think he will be riding it again. He said he had to hold on for dear life! He seriously thought he was going to fly out a few times.

I wish the carts were more accommodating for those that are on the tall side.
