How will Universal's Epic Universe effect Disney?

Under an “all things equal theory”:

If Epic Universal will truly be Epic, as in a sizable game changer, then Mario and Hiccup Horrendous will steal 2 more days from Mouse.
We have a sporting chance to see universal hold 40% to Disney’s 50% of Central market dedicated vacation days.

In the aggregate I don’t see longer vacations but I do see a redistribution of WHERE those vacation days will be spent.

I bet Universal already grabbed a 1.5 day on average from Disney with Potter.
We've already given Uni 4 days of any 7 day trip to Orlando for parks. And unless Uni is booked up we have already gone to Uni resorts 100% of the time. They are simply better bang for the buck and the perks from staying at Disney aren't there anymore. I can't even kid myself by claiming I can park free in the parks when they started charging for parking at the resorts. Depending on the direction they go with Genie I am very likely to do 5 days with only 2 at Disney in the future. They have just proving to be a bad deal for the price. It was bad enough when you had to do the fastpass crap, but at least you didn't have to pay extra for it.

I still like USF better than IOA, but I was disappointed that they tore out "The Terminator" and "Back to the Future". Outdated but still fun. Changing BttF to the Simpsons was almost worthy of a class action suit.
Don't mention the Simpsons... It is the only ride that guarantees I get sick on it. Some how they have the motion just far enough out of sync with the video that it guarantees I'm queezeie if I dare to open my eyes on it.

Eh I like both Back to the Future and The Simpsons Ride. I do agree though they could have kept the BTTF theme while updating the scissor lift used for motion. But it is what it is. As for Simpsons I wish the ride it was all 2d animation though instead of the 3d. That didn't age well.
Replacing Jaws with Diagon Alley was a tough pill to swallow. Diagon is great but still Jaws was an awsome ride.

Diagon Alley is super cool, an incredible land. Jaws was a better attraction than Gringotts. More classic Universal.

I mean… everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess 😝

What likely looks as a knock against a vintage Universal experience(Jaws) is actually my way of saying those Gringot AA's impress me more than any other I have ever seen. Nothing out there can beat those including anything from Disney.

For its day Jaws was money but things have changed dramatically since then.

I am excited for Epic Universe, however outside of Mario and Fantastic Beasts areas, I'm not sure if the classic monsters or how to train your dragon areas are going to be a big draw for the park.

Let's see how those goblins thrust through water.
Neither major park can still get Jaws to do what those animatronics did in and out of water on a consistent basis, so I think it still holds true, and is still alive and well in Japan.

That is fair to wonder. Also, dedicating an entire land to some of them is an interesting thought as prior only major properties lend themselves to lands or if they can be grouped together in similar themes does that go well.
They only need to be a draw for guest spending on quality attractions and if they last ten to fifteen years they can be changed as did most attractions that don't reach the age of "forever" in classic entertainment sense. Internationally, and pop culture generation wise those properties are well known enough. Toon Lagoon did well enough and still does well enough with Popeye and Dudley because they are engrained and guest satisfactory in many eyes.

Certainly more than Tron or Princess and The Frog.

I think Epic U will have an effect on Disney parks for about 2-5 years after it opens, unless Disney does something!
I suspect that crowd levels will be down at Disney, as well as Universal's other park, so what better time to go to Disney or Universal Studios or IOA!?

What are your thoughts?

Yes
There are going to be two different opinion vectors: The paid shills (aka marketing) and the actual visitors. Of course, the shills will present everything in its best light and spin the untold backstory for every feature (which in most cases will be immediately forgotten) many months prior to opening, but the counterpoint will be the opinions of the people who actually pay to visit the new park. Hype versus reality. The house of mice down the road has lately invested heavily in the paid shills with opening experiences never to be seen by the routine customer actually paying for admission (ie Fantasyland "dragon" flight, Starwars X Wing and Tie Fighter) and the multitude of youtube "media influencer" events.

It has potential, but can the remaining Universal Creative execute the plans that Thierry Coup, Mike Hightower, and Mike Harrington put together before they opted out with early retirements? It could be a wonderfully themed experience or Mega FunSpot with a lot of the latest and greatest rides.

The bulk of the Epic Universe team has already been replaced due to the pandemic layoffs.

”affect”

"effect" is correct.

You're thinking of "think Epic U will affect Disney parks..." which is correct.

If you can replace "effect" with "result (in)," you've used it correctly.

If you can replace "affect" with "cause" or "change," you've used it correctly. [Except when you mean to use "affect" to mean "emotional state."]
