How soon should I call....

How soon should I call our resort (PO:RS) to request a refridgerator and other added extras?

Also, I assume that the hotels run a room tab against a credit card swipe, is this correct?

I usually make a fridge/coffemaker request when booking the room. If they are a popular commodity, you might want to call at least a couple of weeks before you arrive. One word of warning...they are never guaranteed.

My recollection is that I'm always asked (or told) a particular limit on my "tab." (I believe it's usually around $ 1,000 - 2,500, not including room) You can have it increased; they just have to clear it with the credit card company. It may vary, and may depend upon your card limit. (I'm old, and have had the card forever, so I have a pretty high limit! ;))

Disney resorts do not get your reservation uploaded in their computer until 4 days b4..Calling weeks ahead of time is a waste..they write down your request and it gets "filed"....Fax all room preferences 4 days prior to your stay. Refriderators are requested through house keeping and you can get them when you are down there. I don't know about the credit card limit thing...i don't use them....but I am positive on the room preference thing.

Disney requests that you ask for the fridge at Check In.

As for the charge card....

Your room key can act as a credit card (if you choose) to almost anywhere on property. If you want the Check In workers will set a limit on it for you so you don't accidentaly spend your life away. But in order to get this you have to give them a credit card number so they can charge this stuff to you in the end...but if you are paying for the resort on a credit card then you don't have to worry about anything. It is all added to your final bill.

Thank you, Insider! I've seldom requested a fridge at check-in....but when I've asked for one on my reservation, it's always sort of "appeared." I guess I was lucky. ;) I've always opened a room charge account....dates back to the old days when only AE was universally accepted at the parks. I thought you had to give a credit card to charge to the room? I guess I was mistaken. I think I've generally been asked if I want a limit...but I do remember being GIVEN a limit at least once. I was told to check at the desk if I wanted/needed it raised...however, this was many years ago! ;)

(maybe I looked "untustworthy")

We requested the fridge a few weeks before, as my fiance takes insulin, but I'm sure you can get one when ya check in. I think we paid $10.00/day. It was well worth it cause I froze water bottles at night for the next day.

Yep, that's the plan. plus we have a 1 yr old daughter and we want to pick up cartons of fresh milk and keep them in the room for her.

(Plus I hate warm Maoutain Dew!!! )

Thanks for the tips everyone, you've answered my query beautifully.

Last time we were in PO they sold cartons of fresh milk at Bonfamilles Cafe, my youngest only drinks milk and its only a short walk from the rooms.
Sorry, but I can think of better things to do without spending £7.50 a day (thats over £100 for the fortnight !!!!) just to have a readily available supply of fresh milk :brick:

Hey there If you ask for a refrigerator and let them know that it is for a medical reason it used to be given for free. I dont know if that policy is still in effect but check it out!!! As far as the credit card/ room card thing that is absolutely true!!! Provide your credit card of choice at the front desk at check in and they will double your room key to act as a charge also. You can also specify that only certain cards have charge privileges( Maybe you dont want the kids to have that!!) Also if you are going to PO Riverside Definitely check out Boatwright's for breakfast my mouth is STILL watering over the banana stuffed french toast!!! Fabulous service, great food and for probably the same amount you'd spend in the food court but a lot more civilized!!! Have an AWESOME trip!!!

Yes, I can see that having an irate 1 year old to deal with whilst the entire family shower, dress and head to Bonfamilles Cafe would be *much easier*.......:zipit:

Personally I don't see that £100 is too much to pay for an easier vacation and peace of mind.

Besides, didn't I read that Bonfamilles Cafe is now closed?

I do believe so. My sister ate there though and said it was pretty good so maybe now that French Quarter is open again they will reopen the sitdown restaurant?? Let me know if anyone finds out it is open
