How much is to much?

Great question. My issue is with the merchandise. I never let my kids buy anything when we go to Disney World (I'm such a mean Mom:mad: ). The prices at those stores are just ridiculous. The ONLY thing allowed is a commemorative shirt from one of the parties at the Holidays that you can only get at MK that night. Other than that, forget it.

Great reply. ;) We do the same, while friends splurge on new cars, expensive furniture, extravagant purchases, and trips... we smile, say we're happy for them, and continue to save our money for Disney. We know what we want to get out of a Disney trip, splurge a little on ourselves and spend what we want, what makes us happy. After being to Disney enough times, we know about what the costs will be so we are prepared.

We booked 6 nights at AoA (Nemo), 6 parkhoppers, DDP, for 2 adults (My mom and I) and my 11 yr old daughter for ~$4900 with airfare. Might come down if they offer any dining discounts as we are going 27 Jan 13 through 2 Feb 13. Seems a little higher than our trip in 2011, probably due to airfare.

from Scotland including flights, moderate resort, coach transfers,14 day ultimate tickets, free dining, pre booked seats on plane, for three people for 14 days of sheer magic.$6500.00.:)

The words I want to use are not Disney friendly!!!!

My 9 day coming up Sunday is around 1000$ not including food! But we don't eat very much on vacation! We have the same delicious food in Montreal if not sometimes better. So it's usually a croissant in the morning nuggets or a turkey leg for lunch and dinner we wing it!!!

How on EARTH do you get those prices for that many days?? Im getting $2293 for 4 days!

(Granted, Im buying for 2 adults and 3 kids, does that mean anything in your prices??)
I agree, 6 days for us (5 adults) is waaaay past that.

I'm at the point where I measure off what cruises are costing us. Next year we have 2 booked that are similar in price and fairly comparable to what WDW trips cost us. If I was to plan a trip to WDW (which I'm not) I'd compare the cost to the cruises and that amount would essentially be my break-point. So if a trip for my family of 4 (2 teens) staying in deluxe accommodations, park hoppers, & all meals including 1 sit-down per day couldn't be done for about $5k I wouldn't do it.

In the past we've spent as much as $14k on a 10-day trip and as little as approx. $2500 for a week. We've never spent more than we could afford at the time and in the end there's no way to put a dollar sign on the memories.

I raise my eyebrows the second I click on the Disney website. At least with DVC, it doesnt feel as if I'm shelling all of it out at once.
