yes, you are right I dont like it! But all I'm trying to say is I agree with Disney if they decide to tear it down, the ride is never crowded and hasnt done well for I dont know how long. And like I said before I dont only like thrills maybe you all with get that through your heads one day! And for you to say that I am ungrateful is just plain dumb, first of all you dont know me, so you cant judge me, second of all, I wouldn't be ungrateful for not liking a ride that Walt created a million freakin years ago. And finally yes, lets move it to Epcot, lets give that park some more dull, old attractions, thats what this park really needs. If you havent noticed Disney managment is heading into more of an exciting ride way, and I will support them 100%!
The most intriguing part is that you are promoting the closure of the attraction, yet you are not letting us in on what you think should/would replace it.

Any insight into this? Do you want it gone because you don't like it? Do you want it gone because you believe the approval for this attraction is in the gutter? Do you want it gone because it's not a Disney ride? Would you replace it with another Disney classic, or leave history and family-fun in the dark?

I think the destruction would be a disservice to what is great about the Magic Kingdom - the balance of fun and insight, the balance of thrill and charm. (P.S. The attraction has had successful attendance. There is no questioning this based on turnstyle reports.) No one likes it? That's funny; an average 89% on the poll has rated the attraction positively (EXCLUDING those who liked it, but would like to see it replaced). I am not seeing where your theories comes from.

P.S. I was showing my 8-year old niece a Magic Kingdom tour video, and I had to explain why Carousel of Progress was not featured. She's never visited the Magic Kingdom without seeing the "family singing the tomorrow song" -- her favorite (tied with IASW).

The CoP is my favorite ride and will always be. Eventhough I am only 14 I love this ride and always get teared up when I see it. My dad even remembers riding this ride at as a kid in the New York World's Fair. Most of us on these boards have experinced CoP at least once in our lifetime and eventhough we agree that it is not the most thrilling ride in the world, it is certinally one of the nicest rides in the world. Maybe one day Michael Eisner and his big shot friend's will ride this once in a lifetime experince and bring a tear to his eye like it does to most of us and might consider saving the CoP.

Michael, if you are going to defend yourself and say you don't like only thrills, you need to do a better job. No offense, and I'm not trying to start a fight, but all I've seen from you is bad-mouthing SE and CoP. I've also only seen defense of Universal and it's "thrill" rides. If you're going to defend yourself, at least give us some idea that your top 3 rides in WDW aren't somewhere along the lines of RnRC, TT, and Mission:Space.

I loved Universal, but I haven't been in a while. I hope to go back for RoTM, but that's about it. At WDW, my favorite ride is RnRC, but I also enjoy ToT, Splash, and SE. The one thing I do resent about RnRC is that it lasts for less than a minute. That may be enough to keep thrill junkies on a high for the rest of the day, but it isn't enough to satisfy the rest of us. They could have done more with it. Nevertheless, I do still enjoy it very much because it features Aerosmith and the concept is good, IMO.

Do you guys not understand money? Cause Disney is wasting it by running this attraction. For managment it would be a very good idea to get rid of the ride. Just because a few people think its a "Disney Classic" doesnt mean the rest of the world likes it, cause they dont. I'm sorry but they ride should be shut down forever

Im sorry but your negativity is really getting on my nerves. :fork: Everytime I read a quote from you its negative. Alot more people like it than you "CoP haters" think. I understand that it may be a little old, but thats what makes it good. It's been around for so long, it's the only ride there like it, and I hope they NEVER close it. If you don't like it don't ride it and let us "CoP lovers" enjoy it. I dont want to start anything I was just posting my opinion.

My favorite non-thrill WDW rides, lets see, where to begin

Junlge cruise, PotC, Dumbo, Aladdin, Tomorrowland transit thingy, indy, teacups, pooh dont laugh, small world, is that enough or do you want more. Also grizz, 89% of Disney freaks voted for it, but thats not the overall view. You all just dont get it do you, I'm trying to explain to you why Disney would close this ride, I'm not saying they should close because I dont like it, but because a lot of people dont like it. And so far all you all have done is blow me off because I dont like it. Also I dont know what should replace it just something, I dont really care what

BINGO. Why do you want to close it if Disney is planning a gift shop?

Attendance is fine.
Guest feedback is fine.
The fans love it.
Walt wanted it.

It needs a sprucer - so fine, give it. But why do you not care what would replace it??

COP needs to stay open and needs to be updated for so many reasons.

I for one think that thrill rides are great, but if that is what you want you can go to just about any amusement park anywhere. I don't go to DW for thrills, I go for the all encompassing atmosphere of Disney. I want to learn new things AND remember old times. I'm all for progress but not at the expense of tradition. Walt wanted the parks to be ever changing and growing. I have to believe what he meant by that was modernization and expansion, not mindless thrills and destruction of the past.

I'm just gonna say this, look at the rides Disney is building right now, ok EE and Soarin are both definately thrills, but you all dont seem to have a problem with those, and the Stunt show is going to be pretty thrilling, all mindless thrills as you like to say, so I'm kinda confused. Oh yea Lauriebar, you said it best, Walt said the parks should always be changing, that means you dont keep rides that are that are old on unpopular

Old and Unpopular in who's opinion? Not mine. You missed the meaning of my post...Walt was for change, true, but also for warmth and nostalgia. Your theory to get rid of anything old and unpopular is outdated. Why not make the COP sparkle and amaze us again instead of destroying it?

You know Michael, I have a new respect for you.

Go apply to the Walt Disney Company before Michael Eisner is booted, and he might just make you part of his board. ;)

yea I would but I've heard too many bad things about working for Disney, thats why I applied at Universal

How many gift shops does the Magic Kingdom need. Plus they all sell the same stuff therefore it would not attract people.

See the plan they are working on is replacing the older attractions with large gift shops. At the exit if each gift shop they will place a cookie cutter attraction having some vauge connection to the shop it is attached to.

The plan is to do over all of the attractions in the MK by 2010. When that is complete they will start the process in EPCOT.

If I went to WDW and didn't get to see COP my vacation would not be complete. It's just a great attraction and it's one of Walt's originals. They can't take that away!

Of the rides you just mentioned, they can ALL be considered thrills. Of course, it's gonna be a different thrill for each individual person. For example, Dumbo, Pooh, IASW can be considered thrilling by children. POTC is considered thrilling by those that experienced it when it opened and are still able to see it today. The tea cups can be considered thrilling ENOUGH for those that may not be able to hold on to their breakfast on M:S. I think I've said enough, but my point is that you don't have a clear perception of what a thrill can be. Different people can find different attractions thrilling. And by now, we know what your idea of a thrill is.

Michael, I respect your opinion and I give you credit for taking on the unpopular viewpoint, but please check your facts. You stated that CoP is never crowded. Do you realize that there's 4 stages(please correct me if I'm wrong) so you can't judge numbers by what's in your group.

Also, good luck Universal--It seems you'll be a good match for them.

To Michael72688 your wrong Walt Didn't said the parks should always be changing.
Walt said as long as there is Magic in the world Disneyland will never
be complete I think that would go for WDW to.He love COP and hope people could
learn about the pass and present. But it should be updated.
