Married on the Disneys' Anniversary

My wife and I were married on July 13, 2002, and we chose that date in large part because it was Walt and Lilly's anniversary. We went to WDW for about 10 days or so, broken up in the middle for a trip to St. Petersburg to see our Red Sox beat up on the D-Rays.

My wife had never been to WDW before. She wore her bride mouse ears (the groom hat looked terrible on me, so I didn't ear it, though now I wish I had), so we got some special treatment, including our own private boat on El Rio de Tiempo.

It was my first time at WDW since I was a kid. We both liked Epcot the best and can't wait to return in 2005. :sohappy:

My wife and I spent half or our honeymoon in WDW in 1993. We were both young and neither had ever vacationed withought our parents. We spent 1 week in Cancun, Mexico and then 1 week in WDW staying at Port Orleans. We were both so young neither had a credit card so we paid cash for everything. My father sent checks ahead for both both the hotels in Mexico and WDW for our deposits for us and luckily he has the same name as me and gave us frequent flyer miles for the flights. Everything else was cash/travler's checks. I left with $5,700.00 in my pocket and came home with $16.00. We had to on our last day actually look at the lunch menu before we went into Chef Mickey's to eat to make sure we had enough. We bought so many suveniers and did so many fun things it was all worth it. Best of times...

We honeymooned at WDW and stayed 4 days 3 nights inDixie Landings. The first day, we had an early morning Character Breakfast at Cinderella Castle. We arrived before the park open and were allowed to enter the park while everyone else stood in line waiting to get in. We walked through an empty MK. As we approached the castle, the mouse himself crossed our path with his escort. Like kids we yelled to Mickey to take his picture. Mickey and his escort stopped. The escort offered to take our picture with Mickey. We have a picture of Mickey, my wife and I in front of the castle with no one around. Needless to say I was struck with the Magic. Even After several trips to Disney, that is still our favorite moment.

Welcome to the boards. That sounds great! I'd love to see the picture!

Only 67 more days til I'm Home :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

WDW was the only place we even discussed for our honeymoon! My wife had been once before with her parents and sister, and I'd been to Disneyland once and spent one day at Epcot.

We were married on December 1, 1990. That was before all of the info on the internet, and we basically went without a lot of planning -- stayed offsite, no PS's. I'd do things a lot differently now, of course, but we had a great time anyway -- WDW truly is the best honeymoon place anywhere!

We had 4-day passes plus admission to Pleasure Island or a water park. Given that it was December, we opted for PI. We flew into Orlando on the day after our wedding, Dec. 2, checked into our hotel, and then went to PI. We ate supper there, explored the shops and clubs, and took in a show at Comedy Warehouse -- still one of my favorite destinations.

After that, it was a park per day -- Epcot on Monday, MK on Tuesday, and the Studios on Wednesday. (There was no AK at the time.) We flew back on Thursday. Yes, if you do the math, we had one day left on our passes -- and we still have them! I just showed them to our two boys (9 & 7, both Disney fanatics) the other day, and they're still good if we ever want to use them!

My husband proposed to me under the lighthouse at the Yacht & Beach Club resort! It was so romantic. We could see Illuminations off in the distance. We will be back for our one year anniversary in Dec. (a few mnths overdue but thats ok, our real anniversary is Oct.)

We did! We honeymooned in WDW for 9 nights (December 2nd - December 11th). It was great! :)

We stayed at the Carribbean beach and had a blast. :)

We still try to go back every year for our anniversary (12/1). This is the first year we won't be able to afford it. :(

My first wedding anniversary is August 30th - just a few weeks away - and we're spending it in WDW! And I'll be having my first meal at the California Grill. Mmmm mmmmm.
For our honeymoon we did 2 weeks in Maui. Then we went back to Maui again 7 months later in April just because we liked it that much.
We're gonna hit the Polynesian for mai tais to reminisce about our honeymoon.

Does first wedding anniversary in WDW count for this thread?

My DH & I married in June 1995. We left the next day for Florida. My first trip ever, his second to Disney since 1971 (when it opened!)

We spent 3 nights off-property and visited Kennedy Space Museum and Daytona Beach. The other 7 nights we spent at Wilderness Lodge. I was impressed with the resort as a whole, but not our room. I thought it was very small (being on our honeymoon we spent a little more time in the room). Being my first trip to Disney I was glad we were there for the 8 days! We visited every park twice and the water parks!

Next year is our 10 year anniversary and I hope to do a "Land & Sea" Package, but I would like to stay on land more than 4 days. We need at least 6 days to do all we like. :D

We have gone twice since and I am glad we went farther apart than every year. I had a wonderful time, but I don't understand all you people going every year or several times a year. (I understand those that live close because the AP is a great deal!!) (I know everyone has their preferences and I am not trying to impose mine, I just don't understand. :lookaroun )I like to go every 3-5 years because I enjoy the changes to the parks more when the trips are further apart. Thanks to my husband's "DisneyFreak" Sister-In-Law and Brother, he is starting to rethink this plan and go every 2-3 years. We'll see. One day we hope to have children and this may change to when the youngest is 3 or 4 y.o. (Unless my younger sister goes to help with any children.)

When I sit hear looking ahead to the long, cold, dark, dreary days of winter its nice knowing we have 1 great week to look forward to! The west coast (Sanibel / Captiva) is my other favorite spot but the kids get board after 3 days.... no boredom in the land that Walt built :sohappy: I do however feel a new smiley of someone forking out cash would be an appropriate addition to this site :brick: Last year when my brother-in-law and I both returned in the same week he said “hey Henri… I heard you were held up by the Mouse too”…. TRUE INDEED

I proposed to my wife at the Blue Bayou Restaurant at Disneyland. Got a standing ovation! A year later we returned and were married at the wedding pavilion at DL and then flew to Florida where we had a suite at the Swan. This was Nov. 9, 1997. Soon after we tried our first Disney Cruise. And as you can see from my avatar, we got a little souvenir. My wife refused to name our daughter Minnie though. We try to get back annually. Nov. 10-15th here we come Contemporary!

Wanna good story! Get this!

I not only had my honeymoon at Disney World, I MET MY WIFE THERE! I MET MY WIFE IN THE MAGIC KINGDOM DURING A FIREWORKS SHOW IN APRIL 2002, sitting over in front and to the left of the Crystal Palace at the round seating area with a tree in the middle. We were married exactly one year later in March 2003 and spent two weeks of our honeymoon there. We've been married happily for the last year and a half. She lived in South Florida and me in Charlotte, NC. After meeting her at Disney we fell in love and I moved 800 miles away from Charlotte to be with my love. We dated and got engaged that September. I was living with my parents and left everything behind to be with her.

Our FIRST KISS was on the Haunted Mansion! Disney is special to us, for the obvious reasons.

U are SOOOOOOOOO LUCKY That is the most romantic way to meet someone! In Disney World in the Magic kingdom near the castle!!! it's like something out of a movie!

My DH and I had our honeymoon at WDW in November of 2003. We stayed at the parks for a week. We went to all of the parks, plus spent a day at Downtown Disney/Disney Quest. It was so much fun. We got spoiled rotten and we abosolutely loved it. We got into parks early, we got to open MGM Studios, got free dessert, etc. It was wonderful.

Man do I feel old!!

I almost feel like I'm ready for the home after reading dates on many of your stories. My wife and I honeymooned there in 1979 at the Poly (as there weren't a heck of a lot of other property hotels then). Of course there was only the one park open and fewer dining opportunities. In some ways it made the planning easier. We enjoyed dancing at the nightclub at the top of the Contemporary (now Calif. Grille) and swimming in the pool, in the lake from the beach and at River Country.

We've spent a few anniversaries since, and are looking forward to spending our 25 there this October. Of course we'll be at the Poly, but the "boat drinks" no longer come in the glass tiki glasses. Itinerary is a bit more complicated, but we're probably looking forward to it even more than that first time. (not just 'cause the kids are staying home :lookaroun ).

Actual anniversary evening, have reservations at Victoria and Albert's...a bit more that we had budgeted the first time around!

We were married on June 12th and will have our slightly delayed honeymoon October 2nd-9th. It will be my wife's 1st trip to WDW and we can't wait.

Maybe we'll see you guys there!

What a coincidence! My parents were married June 12th, but their wedding was in 1982. They honeymooned in WDW, but only spent like one day because all that was there was the Magic Kingdom. Hopefully someday I'll honeymoon in WDW, but first I 'spose I should find a groom.

25 Years... CONGRATS! That will be great fun, I look forward to the day my wife and I can enjoy a trip without the kids (God love em). Didn't they used to call the top of the contemporary "The top of the world"? I remember the days when you could eat breakfast up there.

Yes, we ate there as kids. The Cooking with Mickey Cookbooks have some drink recipes from there.

Yup, used to be nice, intimate and quiet

There have been a few iterations at the top of the Contemporary. Yes, Top of the World was used, also they brought some dance and song groups in and called it Broadway Top of the World. That was back when all the hotels had a bar (before Pleasure Island).

we spent our honeymoon there as well in 1996 and have been there evry year since, well except for the year 2000 we were a little busy , ( i was in labor with our first child). but even with her as a baby she's been there every year since she was 1 this nov will be here 4th visit. We'll be taking our new little addition in nov as well for her very first visit to the kingdom , she loves pooh bear, I guess you could say that we brainwashed our children , but it could be worse.. we just faced the fact, that every year we will be in disney!!! and thats not a bad thing... oh we stayed at Dixie Landings in the bayou section.. and ever since then we've stayed in the exact same area..

LONG LIVE DIXIE LANDINGS!!!!!!
