I am asking this question because American Idol's amount of viewers are really declining at this point. Thursday's show had 12.33 million viewers and that is their worst for viewership since Season 2. American Idol still has many shows to go in this season, so the the amount viewers could be getting even worse for American Idol. By the amount American Idol is declining by viewers, Fox has to pull the plug on the show in a couple more seasons.

I am guessing American Idol Experience will be closed in less than 3 years. The fact is one there is no more American Idol seasons, I don't think Disney is able to keep American Idol Experience open.

It really depends on the attendance at the attraction; the show could be canned in a few years but if attendance is high, they'll keep it around. And with the tv show's current ratings, they probably have at least another 2 seasons (depending on major changes to the cast or format).

However, if we base it on Who wants to be a millionnaire - Play it! that lasted 5 years, it certainly could follow the same patern: Unless you're a big fan of the attraction, most will lose interrest after a few visits and attendance will eventually dwindle with the show's ratings.

Another major factor is how Disney values the area as prime real estate. If plans for something better for the area come up, Idol is gone.

With all that said, it'll probably be around for a little while..

Four years after Idol, the TV show, has been cancelled. It will be a well kept secret that at the end of every theme park day, the winner of the golden ticket is quietly executed. You will also be kicked out of DHS if you you're caught mentioning that the TV show has been cancelled within earshot of a CM.

See, it been a LONG time since my last visit. So.... there is an American Idol attraction? Uhhh, whhhaatt... Why?
Yes, there is an American Idol Attraction. Disney knew that American Idol was a very popular show and decided to create an attraction that has guests sing as a result. The Attraction opened in 2009.

The Attraction opened at a time that American Idol already started to decline in viewership.

Don't watch the show (never did) and haven't gone into AI at WDW. No interest.

Since I'm not interested in it, I'm sure it'll hang around for a while. WWTBAM, OTOH, was an attraction I enjoyed...so it, of course, is gone.

Can't see it lasting too long once the show stops airing new seasons. As it is, don't they continuously struggle to get people into the theater?

In general things do, but for a show that has 4 (well paid I'm sure) hosts/judges, lots of crowd interaction and effects, plus the requirement of contestants who don't totally suck...I could see it being a problem to keep around too much longer.
