How long is not long enough?

You know I've just read a thread relating to your Disney vacation and the first thing you've got to decide is "How long should we go for? " .Our first trip in 2004 was a two centre vacation, first week onsite with a 5 day hopper, and second week offsite. Then in 2006 we one the exact same, except with a 7 day park hopper. But in 2008 we decided to stay the full 14 days onsite. As we did in 2010, and this year also. But that first 14 day Disney vacation we wondered to ourselves is 14 days inside the bubble too much.Well to be honest,no it's not, there's so much new things in the two year gap,so many things we hadn't done,or missed because we were too busy elsewhere. So what do you think? I know that certain members here are doing three weeks:rolleyes: and wondering what the average American vacation to WDW is?:)

Our typical stay is anywhere between 7-10 days...depending on timing, how much vacation time we have to burn, and time of year. We have done five days and found it to be at times to short for our liking....I think if you asked us we could stay for 14 days and think that would be fabulous. This year will be our longest yet at a full ten days....with a little one in tow we shall see how we fair..There are times when it seems an eternity of time and others when its not long enough...

The shortest I have ever been was 5 nights and even then we walked away wishing we had more time. In my opinion ideal is around 10 days, this way you really experience all. When you're at the 5 day and lower mark it really becomes a highlight trip... as in hit every E attraction, a few shows and that's it.

Average is hard to say, but my guess is 6-7 nights. We're doing 5 nights at Universal and 11 nights at Disney next month, and I don't think 11 is long enough. 5 is too many for Universal, but my wife insisted, and there's no need to try and argue with city hall, er, I mean, the wife.

totally agree... how many times can you go on the same thrill rides?

We went last May for 7 days (One day was at Universal and one was spent doing Downtown Disney and my Disney audition, so technically 5 days at Disney parks) We did a 4 1/2 day trip in November, all Disney parks and it was nice. A perfect little trip between our two long trips. Our vacation last month was 8 days (One day Busch Gardens and one day at Downtown Disney but then we went to MK after dinner so 6.25 Disney days lol) and I still didn't think that was enough time!! Seems like we got more done on our 4 1/2 day trip than we did on our 6.25 day trip. In September we are going to have 7 days, all Disney. I totally don't mind doing all Disney parks while we're there but sometimes we throw in Universal or Busch Gardens to get our fill of thrill rides :)

We try and go at leat 2 times a year. One trip 6-7 nights and the second trip is usually 3 -4 nights. If I had the opportunity to stay for 14 days I would take it. I don't think you can get enough of the bubble. There is always something going on, to keep things fresh and interesting. Every trip we seem to discover a little something new and can't believe that we never saw it before.

I think two weeks is the best we are only going for a week this year as we did last year, but we didnt think it was enough! I think because we have been so many times we like to relax and chill out by the pool more, instead of rushing around so we would prefer to stay longer and take it all at a slower pace! :)

The shortest we have done was 3 days. It was for our 15th anniversary that I surprised my wife with the trip and out first stay @ AKL. WAY TOOOOO SHORT!!!!

We typically go for 15 days and I find it not enough. We are still sad when we leave and have plenty to discuss about things we wanted to do and did not have time for. One big differance is that during the long stays I find our vacation to be more relaxed. We still are going 16 hours a day, but we will slow down more instead of just going ride to ride to ride. We take time to look at details in all of the architecture, search out the streetmosphere and see the less popular rides and shows that many skip.

We've done a couple Monday through Friday trips. I'd say any shorter than that would be too short. I prefer to go for more like seven or eight days. I believe our next visit is ten nights, which will be our longest to date.

It's odd because I love the coasters at Universal, but the rerideability (I like that made up word) of the majority of Disney's attractions is much higher for me.

Love the word and I totally agree. 5 days is way to long. We took a long weekend last month, Friday to Monday and felt that is was just enough time no more, no less.

I would agree... mainly for elements of theming. I can ride a certain attraction and I find a small, unique element or detail of the attraction each time. More so with some attractions than others but it is what keeps me coming back.

I live about an 80 mins from a local Six Flags. We recently, along with some friends, decided to head back out and spend a day at the park. Immediately I noticed park hours, 10-6 and thought it was a rather short day until we got there and rode all 10 coasters in a 2 hour span and realized there isn't anything else to do. That's how I view universal, awesome thrill rides but its the same experience each and every time.

I'd say a week at minimum is where I'd start for a real vacation. Our last trip was a full week and we did everything we wanted for the most part but we didn't take any rest days. I think 10 days would be ideal. It would give enough time for some lazy days at the hotel/pool and/or let you take your time, enjoying and repeating the stuff you like instead of just rushing through to do it all. Plus it takes advantage of the 10 day pass discount. I can see the benefit of doing more but I think I'd personally be happy with 10.

its like if you have never been there its AWESOME, but then you spend one day in the old and one in the IOA and boom... same old crap, and super expensive! Disney isnt cheaper, but you get way more for your buck in opinion.
I agree 100% We spent maybe a half day in each park and saw just about everthing. It will be a while before we get the itch to return.

It varies for me. I have stayed down in Florida to see relatives and only went to Disney maybe 2 times in the week I was there. On past family trips we've normally stayed between 4-7 days on Disney property and I felt like I had enough time with that. I've even taken weekend trips to Florida and spent only one day at Disney and was satisfied. So I'll say if I get at least 2 days of Disney on a weeks vacation I'm satisfied. Five or six days being what I prefer though.
