How late does the safari run?

Does anyone know how late into the evening the safari’s run? I’m getting ready to start making FP+ selections and I was wondering what’s the latest I can choose.

It seems like it closes at either 8:30 or 8:45, depending on the day. I'm not sure if fastpasses close earlier than that, but they should be availible for the majority of the time.

As far as I'm aware, it depends on the day, but we rode it a couple of times during our last trip (mid March) and they all mentioned what time the ride would be closing that night (we were riding earlier in the day) and that it was right before sunset due to lower light levels.

Of course! I'm sure you could also make a phone call to WDW to double check what the policy is and if they have either an estimate or an exact time they could give you for a day or cluster of days during your trip

Assuming they’re running Night safaris, usually up to park closing.

Starting your actual ride as the sun hits the horizon is recommended if you’re used to the day version.

I made FPs from 8:00-9:00 for KS at the end of June. AK closes at 9:00pm that night.

I did it this past March at park close, some animals were out but it wasn’t like the daytime. We did get to hear the pride of lions roar at us, scary but cool! It was like 5 of them at once.

We went on it at night. It was a big disappointment.

I agree. We had always done the safari first and thought it would be a great change in pace to do it in twilight but it isn't.

Our very best safaris have been from park opening to 30 min after. I’m told this is when a lot of the animals are fed but I cant confirm. We were very excited about the evening expeditions but ours was a total bust

We went on it at night. It was a big disappointment.

This. We'd never do it in the dark again. Part of the enjoyment is the view of the whole area, at night you just see where the light shines so lose at least 70% of the fun.
