3 years ago we drove down and kept all our receipts to compare the cost of driving to the cost of 2 plane tickets. Gas, meals for 2 adults and 2 nites in a motel (there and back ya know), and of course the always popular "sundries", like lots of coffee for me. 13 hr. drive to get there, another 13 hr. back. When we got back I went online and checked out Southwest Airlines to do the comparison. At most 5 hr. to get there, if no direct flights were available and 2 roundtrip plane tickets were $200 LESS than what we spent on driving. The week we were at WDW the vehicle sat in the parking lot, we never went off property. Haven't driven since.

I can't believe how many drive- I thought my 2 hours 45 minutes sucked, I couldn't bear 18 hours!
We drive because my Special Needs daughter could not handle being patted down for the search that they do to get on a plane. So instead of having a Special Needs Child crying hysterically because a stranger is touching her we drive.

From my door to Saratoga Springs ,1,104 Miles 16 hours but we do it in 2 days. It allows us plenty of time to drive without anyone going without sleep and we take some "detours" as we call them, like seeing a place for a cave tour and we decided to take an hour break and go walk around in a cave. We like finding things off the beaten path. We don't fly for 2 reason 1 my Special Needs Daughter and 2 my fear of heights you would have to knock me out to get me onto a plane and from what I understand they want you at least somewhat coherent to get on board a plan.

You didn't have a British option in the poll. And most won't call themselves European... Might as well call all people from S.America "Americans"
