How Does Somebody Get an EV Parking Space at Disney World?

Well the OP did say they didn't want to be inconvenienced and wanted to park THEY'RE car in that spot while they went to the park. Forget anyone else that wants to charge a vehicle.
I've had more time to think about this. Given that most people will spend many hours at the park, maybe a row for EVs with both L2 chargers and 110 plugs + BYOevse.

But yeah, Disney needs to have high idle fees to stop people from staying plugged all day. The Tesla next to me at Epcot today had charged barely 2kwh, but had been plugged in for over 6 hours when I arrived at 2pm. They didn't need to charge, they just wanted a good spot.

Well you did forget your punctuation at the end of your sentence. I give your post a B-. 😉
Actually, it was a sentence fragment. Today, I am explaining the difference between "affect" and "effect" to my 7th grade students. Trust me, I am not the grammar police like some people I know.

I know nothing about EV charge points, but high idle fees is a great idea to make someone move their car after it’s charged.

Do many charge points have these idle fees?

It's set by the owner. In my experience it's about 50/50. Some owners - like large retail stores - don't like having them, as it gives an incentive for people to leave and not spend money.

Thanks for the info. The theme park charge points should have high idle fees in my opinion as folks will move their cars and go back into the park. Disney Springs maybe should not have idle fees.

It's been a while, but IIRC, the parks have relatively high idle fees. I think Disney Springs should as well, at least until the number of EV charging spots is proportional to the number of EVs registered in Florida (about 1%).

I wish the couple I saw at Vero Beach Beach DVC got charged for his use of the charging station. The “winner” backed his Tesla into the charging spot that was right near the walkway to get to the villas. By backing in he went almost perpendicular to the space and blocked the entrance. It made it very difficult to move luggage. He did it everyday for the rest of his trip and what makes it so awful is he had to see it because he was plugging it in. I am on the environmental side of things but this behavior kind of pushes an agenda.

There are inconsiderate people that drive both EVs and ICEs

And don't worry, EVs are NOT on the environmental side of things. They are just vehicles with a different power source.

Sounds like a Tesla owner.

Tesla drivers are considered to be the "BMW drivers" of the EV world.

Every time I've seen an EV parked at - but not plugged into a charger - it's always been a Tesla. It really p!!!es me off even more when it's a charger that their car isn't compatible with.

BMW and for some reason Subaru station wagons! I am to the left of things and laugh every time I see a Subaru commercial. Commuting from my house in the country to the city everyday, the ______’s passing people on the double yellow curves are always Subaru wagons with a bike or BMW’s.

I am sorry, are you suggesting that people leave the park to move their car? To find an hour (or over an hour for MK) to move the car in between a lunch reservation made 60 days ago, lighting lane times that you woke up at 7am and paid for, and navigate show times? I understand being considerate, this just seems a little impractical.

I mean, it's pretty absurd to block one of four chargers at the park for the full day if you don't need to. I get it's not a perfect use case for them, but maybe they should be primarily used by people who come for 3 hours at a time. That way 3-4 people can use each charger instead of only one.

Steep idle fees would help

In what can only be described as an absolute miracle, today, at 2pm on a weekend day during a festival, I got an EV spot at Epcot.

Charged 17.265kwh for $6.04. Not horrible, 35 cents/kwh.

Literally today leaving Epcot, a Tesla Model Y and a Tesla Model 3 were both parked and not plugged at EV charging spots, meanwhile I saw a Fiat 500e and a first gen Nissan Leaf parked further away that I know for a fact could have used those chargers far more than the Teslas who blocked them.
