How do you get over the post-trip letdown?

This is our second year of vacationing at Wilderness Lodge in the fall. I was totally unprepared the first time for how incredibly depressed I would be when we got home! I spent the whole year gearing up for our vacation this October, and it was way more amazing than last year. But now I can't bounce back to real life! Everything makes me think of Mickey Mouse, and I'm so sad to be home. So...how do you get over the post-trip letdown? When you know that you can't go back for another year? We're going to go next year November 11-20. counting down the days!

It happens every trip.....the best you can do is have that next countdown started....be thankful it is...

I'm hoping to book a bounceback for the same dates you have for 2011....we'll be there in less tha 2 weeks, were any good bouncebacks offered when you were there in Oct?

We didn't get a bounceback offer. But I also didn't know to look for them until after we got back and I read about them on here. I didn't have a data package on my phone, so I didn't get the emails from disney, and I didn't see one in my inbox when I got back. Have you been that week before? Is it a good week to go? Everything I've read says it is...we would be getting there the last day of Jersey week, then leaving the Sunday before thanksgiving when it starts to get crazy.

You don't know how happy I am to hear that! :) :) I have gotten such conflicting responses. We will be there the 18th - 26th and so many people said it will be complete mayhem the entire time.

not sure .. I went down for two weeks (herniated disc) almost immediately following my trip in July ... this website sure did help me through that and probably every time following a trip..

We always have a trip in the planning stages. We're going in January but are planning September 2011 and February 2011 now. :ROFLOL:

Someone once told me the best way to get over a Disney Hangover is to never goto Disney but who are we kidding it that really going to happen.

Talk about it. I love talking about it with people who have never been and I love even more talking to people who have gone and enjoyed it. Like any "problem" you need to communicate. :ROFLOL:

In all honesty I always miss it some time or another. Usually there isn't a day that goes by that I wouldn't wish I were there.

But like others are saying, plan another trip. Even the hope of going again can get the juices flowing. And another thing, be happy and grateful that you saw Disney World. Some people never do and some people wish they had the money or the chance to go. Be happy that you saw a place that has brought joy to so many people and will continue to do so.

Phil, that is a very wise posting. Thanks for the reminder of how blessed I am!

By scheduling a meeting

In LA, San Diego, Oxnard, or anywhere in CA except San Francisco and then divert for a day or two to Disneyland.

Helps to come down gradually....

My usual tactic is to just be really moody at work for a couple of weeks:fork:

Its a good job we get back so close to xmas this time, gives me something to take my mind off being back.

just out of interest when is thanksgiving? (im from the UK so i dont know)

It's just something that naturally goes away after 2 weeks or so. But even then, I don't think it really goes away. The thought of, "Oh I was just there" goes away, but deep down you still miss it.
