How do you get over the post-trip letdown?

Seriously, though--I help others plan their trips...it helps me to live vicariously. I also read trip reports here religiously and listen to attraction/area music constantly.

And I think I've read here recently that other people do this too, but as I am falling asleep each night, I do a very detailed visualization of arriving at a park or resort via the mode of transportation of my choice (bus, monorail, etc.), and try to create an imaginary day in the parks. It helps me fall asleep. Worst case scenario, you have a nightmare about WDW or don't dream at all. Best case, you dream about a great day at the parks.

Hahah...I like it. I think we should be friends, we have similar strategies!

You don't know how happy I am to hear that! :) :) I have gotten such conflicting responses. We will be there the 18th - 26th and so many people said it will be complete mayhem the entire time.

From my own experience I can tell Thanksgiving is no longer a day or weekend. It is now a full week, running from about the Tuesday before to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. So take advantage of those early days of the trip. It will get busier every day.

OMG this is how I go to sleep every night ,too! Sometimes I wake up the next morning and realized I worked hard all night planning our nonexistent trip:ROFLOL:! I go to sleep and wake up thinking Disney!:p

And another thing, be happy and grateful that you saw Disney World. Some people never do and some people wish they had the money or the chance to go. Be happy that you saw a place that has brought joy to so many people and will continue to do so.

How very true, I try to get my children to understand this message. They are blessed with Grandparents who want to take them to Disney otherwise I don't think we would be going.

I am still getting over the let down of being home and I have been home for two weeks! I love to look at the websites and read the forums to see what other people are doing. I try to find as much information about the next resort we will be staying at...and now I find myself getting crazed about the DP. We did not use it last time and I think it would be in our best interest. So this is my new thing that will feed my OCD. LOL!

I've found that the only way I don't get a little sad when I leave is to have another trip in the works prior to leaving, even if it's just a short one and a bit of a ways off. Even if I don't know it's definite, it makes it easier.

I am such a dork.:ROFLOL:

You know, we have friends, and they took their three little girls to WDW last month. The father had never been but went to Disneyland when he was a kid and loved it. The mother (who was generally used to getting her own way) had never been. The girls weren't toddlers either, they were all 8 and up. None of them cared for it. Only the father liked Disney. In reality those kids are as spoiled as you can possibly be. The father is more level headed but they really get it from the mother. Hey if your mom is at WDW and considers it mundane you probably would too!

I couldn't understand it, neither could he. He stated that only ONE of his daughters thanked him for the trip. ONE! If it were me those kids would have learned manners a long time ago and would get a smack across the head if they weren't grateful but that's another story. I told him that there are kids dying of cancer who use going to Disney World as their final wish. It boiled my blood to hear that about kids.
