Unless you are staying at All Star, you probably won't even notice it. There may be some sporadic cheer outbursts in the parks, but otherwise I've never found it to be an issue.

Oh, and welcome to the boards!!

We've been at the WL twice during that week, and once at AKL the same week - never even realized that they were around, I never noticed them in the parks.

We were down during Pop Warner week back in '01, and it really wasn't bad at all. The crowds were very light and we even stayed at All Star Sports, and it wasn't too loud or anything.

Not at all, they are absorbed very well....but when there are periodic "cheer outbursts", those pre-teen pitched voices do leave a lasting impression...

Now you've got me nervous...taking my daughter for her 18th Birthday Dec. 7-12 and staying at All Star Music. Do you think it will be crazy with teenagers? Should we switch to a moderate resort? Any advice would be great.

Don't worry about it, you will be fine. I think most of the events are the week before anyway...

I believe their final event is on Saturday Dec 8.

OK, I've never been there for the Pop Warner event, but I've got a dd on her high school cheer team and we go to WDW for competition in March. We stay at the All Star Sports and the competition event is at the Milkhouse (in the sports complex). my other dd is on a dance team that competes in WDW (also at the Milkhouse, also in March) and we stay at All Star Music.

there is no place for the teams to practice at WDW (except in the warm up room at the Milkhouse during the comepetition itself), so many of the teams will practice at the resort, on the lawns between buildings. depending on the team's schedule this could occur in the morning, afternoon or early evening, but most teams are respectful of other guests while practicing (though I do recall one dance team, not my daughter's team, that came back from the awards ceremony at 10 PM and got so loud they woke up several small children and enraged a few parents).

if you think this might be an inconvenience, you should consider chanigning resorts.

The Pop Warner crowd will be staying mainly at All Star Sports and Music and the two Port Orleans resorts this year. And they seem to be trying to crack down on inappropriate behavior, as attendees are being warned in a letter that such behavior could mean:

• A possible immediate ejection from the Pop Warner Super Bowl events and WALT DISNEY WORLD® property. The persons involved risk forfeiting hotel and other deposits. Revised Air reservations/ ticket payments will be your problem, not ours nor Disney’s.
• Possible lifetime ban from Disney World.
• An AUTOMATIC PROHIBITION from all Regional and National events for all teams/squads from that Association for one full season.
• Possible suspension and/or probation from coaching or administering within Pop Warner.

Also keep in mind that DHS will be closing early on Dec. 5th for the private Celebration Party, so you might want to avoid the park that day. :)

Thanks for reply. Is it anymore crowded in the parks during this week?

We went the 1st week of December 2005. The parks are much more crowded than it was in years past. For our future December trips, we will be going the 2nd week. It's a shame because we love being in the parks for Walt's birthday.

The Pop Warner media rep is a former Disney World CM, which I found out when I asked him this exact question last year. (Pop Warner is the organization that hosts the football and cheerleading competition at WDW. The media rep worked at Wilderness Lodge for several years.)

According to the rep there's little impact on wait times at the parks. I believe him, based on what we've measured.
