How are the crowds @ Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party?

We just bought tickets for the Christmas party and have heard differing comments on the crowds. It would seem to me that it is a pretty good premium for the party and that might limit the amount of people. But I have also heard of people that said it was wall to wall people. What are some of your experiences?

I went on an AP discount night and didn't think it was bad. The party was sold out, but once I was away from Main Street and The Hub the crowds were not bad. The longest lines I saw all night were for Meet & Greets. If you go into the party expecting people to be there and are patient you will have an awesome time. When people go into the party expecting to have the park to themselves they are disappointed. One suggestion I have is to watch the second parade in Frontierland. Last year I got my spot for the parade around 30 min before it started by Splash Mountain. I was right in the front and I didn't have to fight anyone for a spot. The other reason is the parade starts in Frontierland so you will be able to go ride other things faster than waiting for it on Main Street.

I think we attended on Tuesday, 12/4 last year. I'm pretty sure that's the date. It was sold out and crowded crowded crowded. We were miserable. All the character meet and greets had minimums of an hour wait but most were longer. Santa was no less than 2 hours and we checked back on that one several times. We did none of these because we didn't want to spend our evening in lines. The cocoa and cookies were nice but you can't eat and drink $45 worth without getting sick. LOL! We are scheduled to go to WDW in December this year but do not plan on attending MVMCP. It was totally NOT worth it to us last year.

We've done P&P parties and those were faaaaar less crowded. I guess that's why we were disappointed with the crowd levels. If you are going just to be there late or ride the rides that can be done on an EMH night or a later hours night. If you're going for the holiday meet and greets or the other special shows and holiday happenings get ready to join the heard.

Has anyone heard if there have been any efforts to reduce the crowding (ie. less tickets sold or more dates offered)? It seems like there are more dates this year than last year but I'm not sure. I'm not a real experienced December tripper. :animwink:

We are going on Thursday Dec 12. I don't know what that would mean for crowds, but even in this forum there are completely different views on the crowds. Is there any rhyme or reason as it relates to the time of the week, or is it completely random?

Im not sure exactly what the date was...i think it may have been dec.6th..back in 2006.

The park was crowded like crazy that day, but when the MVMCP started the population dwindled down to like nothing. It seriously felt like we owned the place.

Doing it again this year :D

When we went two and three years ago it wasn't that bad and we went on a Tuesday night both times because we had found with the Halloween party that the weekends were more crowded. But we have heard last year that the Tuesday nights were sold out and to me even though they limit it it's still kind of crowded.
It's still fun to do especially if you haven't done it before.

We do the Christmas party every year....it use to be sooo empty but now...its crowded...BUT! I never had a wait time of more than 20 minutes for a ride, but the streets are jammed packed, I guess people are just there for the parade.

Make sure you get the free hot cocoa....yummmy!
