Update: @WDW1974 says thumbs down.
An Eagle Eye Poster over at DisBoards noticed this story:

Apparently he's working on the development of properties on both coasts. The best part is they're reported to be basing them off of Walt Disney sketches.

Some of his past works include:
http://www.editionhotels.com
http://www.publichotels.com/chicago/about-us/the-idea/
http://www.215chrystie.com

The epitome of everything that is not a Disney Hotel. Hip, modern, and not extremely family friendly. I'm curious how this partnership was born.

I would love to see this guy redo The Contemporary Resort.

Hotels for Disney based off Walt Disney's own sketches. Wouldn't that include the Asian and Persian resort that was originally planned for 7 Seas Lagoon.

Is the occupancy rate at the Deluxe resorts even high enough to justify a new Deluxe? Why do I feel like we have an exclusive DVC only resort coming soon.

Nothing in the article would preclude it from being a DVC resort.

I for one hope it's Persian related. I can't imagine the quality of rugs that one would find in the gift shop.
They'll probably be generic.

dvc rooms can be purchased with cash. they are just expensive at like $400 to $500 a nite.

I'm just astounded that WDW would even think of creating a first class experience, Especially since they have been so maniacally removing amenities from the 'Deluxe' hotels

That's because a 'Studio' IS a standard room at a resort - it just has a fancy moniker in DVC speak
I know. I'm just making the point that "DVC room" or "DVC resort" does not mean that only DVC people can stay there. Cash guests are able to book those rooms, and it doesn't cost any more than they'd pay if it was non-DVC inventory.
