We always drive to WDW.
We don’t pay for parking.
We don’t put a CC on file at our hotel (usually the all stars)
We don’t use magic bands for any charges.
As I’ve said in the past, I’d love to share how we don’t pay for parking but I’m not ruining it for me.
My last 2 trips they no longer give you a piece of paper to put in your car. They simply ask you if you have a car. So if you really need to save the money all you need to do is simply say no to that question & thats that. Not encouraging to lie but i was shocked thats all they do now. My mom has a handicap pass so the fee is exempt for our rental but i was shocked for something they are charging for now they truly dont even verify anything anymore.

I know I would gladly pay for parking (for now) if I could give up my handicapped placard.
This is something Disney doesn't make it easy to find out. Parking is free at the resorts if you have a Handicap Placard (called an Accessible Parking Permit where I come from). Show them your placard at check-in and they won't charge you the fee. Because you're a resort guest, you still get free parking at the parks.

And don’t think for one second that people don’t come down with their relative’s placard to get out of paying…hell , there are people on here that brag about never paying for parking…like I said, I’d GLADLY pay for parking if I didn’t need the placard. There’s an especially warm place reserved for those people…a LOT hotter than Orlando in August.

But if you are handicapped don't worry about it.

I don’t hate it. It’s kind of spiteful, but if the goal is just to offset the parking fees, that’s easy to do with drinks alone (and I’ll still get drinks at the bars lol.)
Agreed. We will buy a six pack of some kind of canned bear(update fix, beer!)to have a some at the pool. Also Disney sells wine at their stores at a very decent price

So when i went in November they asked me told them i have a rental & a handicap pass ... when i went this past August they didnt say anything believe it or not and when i was basically done with the check in i just told them i had a handicap pass assuming that he had forgotten to ask and wasnt sure if they went back to a paper in window or not to go from hotel to hotel or to the theme parks to park and what not

Disney encourages online check-in, which doesn’t ask if you will be parking a car. I agree they have some goofy enforcement policies but letting people drive into the resort in a car, check in in person and deny they have a car would be unfair and would definitely discourage checking in online.

I assumed they note it when you drive up to the security shack and produce ID. Is it possible you displayed the handicap pass on your rental when you drove in? Or that the CM noted it when you told them about the pass? It seems more likely that you weren’t charged for that reason.

Again, Disney is wildly inconsistent and I’m not doubting anything you say. But it would be an odd way to enforce parking fees.

No because they were charging me daily in November that i literally asked for a n umber to call to resolve this issue as opposed to going to the front desk daily.... this past trip they did the same thing charged me the 1st 3 days until it finally was fixed... i displayed no pass at the gate and honestly they didnt even ask to see it this past trip..... again this is my experience and even before charging they always asked if i had a car. Ive never checked in online so i dk what that process is

Since they don’t ask online if you’ll be parking, they have to just note it at the security shack when you check in. That’s probably why you were charged until you informed them about the handicap pass.

If you check in in person they don’t know if you arrived in an Uber or taxi so they ask if you’ll be parking a car. At least that makes the most sense but who knows.

On both occasions i checked in in person at the front desk and on both occasions showed my pass & both occasions i was told i would not be charged & and on both occasions i was charged i informed them each day and still was charged until i finally got fed up in november and spoke to accounting i believe and they resolved the issue for me... this past trip after going to front desk on the 2nd & 3rd day when i noticed the charge i told them & it was corrected

I stayed at the Dolphin earlier this year. Pulled a ticket at the entrance, parked, and brought my luggage inside. They asked if I had a car and I said yes and they told me I could use the room key to exit the lot. I did not move the car the entire stay, was not asked for a description of it, and was not given any pass to put in my windshield. Check out day comes and surprise, surprise, the exit gate is up and I don't even need to use my key to exit.

Okay, but that experience completely counters your earlier statement in that if people want to save money all they have to do is say at check-in that they don’t have a car.
