What is a dirty water hot dog? It doesn't sound very sanitary.

I've had a hot dog off a cart in NY and it was sooooo good. It's been about 20 yrs and I still remember it.

Its a 'dirty water' hot dog because the dogs sit in the same water all day that they were cooked in. That was the way it was done in NY, but I dont know if things have changed. It sounds unsanitary, but it gave the hot dogs such a great flavor!

Hot dog stands are the best, because they are so easy to purchase from, and you can eat while you are walking if you stay away from the chips and drink.

Hot dogs are available at an outdoor stand in Liberty Square right by the entrance to the Liberty Square River Boat, and behind The Hall of Presidents and Mickey's PhilharMagic. We have lunch there almost every trip - not by design, but because it is so fast and convenient.

To answer the question of an earlier poster, there are soft pretzels for sale somewhat near The Seas and The Land in Epcot. I know this as my daughter and I had to grab one for a makeshift "dinner" before we stood in a long line for Soarin' during a park hop late one evening in February.

What year did they take out the foot long hot dog carts on Flower St and American Adventure? Thats the last time I bought one off of a cart.

Now its kind of hard to justify $7 for a hot dog when Hess has them 2 for $2.

The foot long hot dog carts used to be all over WDW, especially in the 90s. A few used to be in Liberty Square, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and in the Flower Mkt of Main Street, and a few more were dotted around the walkways from Future World to World Showcase. And I'm sure there were more. A foot long hotdog dinner was a family tradition of sorts.

Then one vacation, we were surprised that the footlong hot dog carts were eliminated. In their place were turkey leg carts. This was around the Millenium Celebration.

They now have seasonal hot dog carts, but a fraction of what used to be around. It is tough to find footlong hotdogs at Disney.

This is the most extensive conversation regarding hotdogs that I have ever witnessed.

Now, those hotdogs at the Lunching Pad, are those quick service options? Or am I going to have to pay 7.95 for a hotdog?

You want an extensive conversation on hot dogs, go to Chicago, visit Hot Doug's on a weekend. In your 1-3 hour wait outside in line, you will have many a long conversation on the intricacies of encased meats. Wow, how I miss that place.

If I could get a REAL Chicago style hot dog at one of the CS joins in WDW (ala Gold Coast Dogs, Wiener Circle, etc...) I know I'd be back over and over again.
