Horseback riding at Ft Wilderness

My wife just told me that she wants to do horseback riding next year on our trip, so I told her I'd look into it.

From looking in my Biernbaum book, it says it is $32 for a 45 minute ride, with rides departing at 4 different times during the day.

So what times are available? Is it the same times year round, or do the times change seasonally? Are there any times available in the evening, or is it all during the day?

Thanks for the info.

There is a day that we plan to be in Epcot until noon or 1 PM or so. So if we do the 2:30 ride, I suppose we could take the bus over there, and then from Ft Wilderness, after the ride, take the bus back to Downtown Disney. And then back to Riverside from there.

Am I correct that the busses do run from all the resorts to DTD?

That sounds like so much fun! I didn't even know you could ride horses at disney. Although, I should have known- you can do anything at disney!

I will have to wait 6 years until my youngest is 9, though. :(

By the way, I called that number that someone posted and the price she told me is $42. So apparently, it has gone up 10 bucks from the price quoted in Biernbaum's 2006 book. Just a little FYI for anyone else who may be interested.

She told me the same times that the poster said, as well, except that she said the 4 PM time is only added at certain times of the year. So, for the most part, 2:30 is the latest ride time.

Hey SBKLINE!

If I could make a recommendation, I'd like to suggest doing the FIRST ride in the morning!!!!

From experience I can tell you it is an absolutely wonderful way to start your day! You are then the first ones there, so you can watch up close as the ranch CMs get the horses ready for the day. Also, our 8:30 ride was starting right as the sun was peeking through the Fort Wilderness trees.

It was very quiet and peaceful at that hour, with fresh dew on the trees (we went in Sept.) and horses that were ready to go! The whole experience is something most people will never get to experience at WDW, as you travel through the woods where nobody else ever goes.

Just as your ride is ending is a perfect time to then walk over to the Trail's End for your cowboy buffet, completing the whole experience!

After breakfast, we took the boat from the Fort Wilderness dock over to the Magic Kingdom for the day.

All in all, a beautiful and unforgettable morning! Be sure to bring your camera!
