Horizons

I gotta say, I was down at Mouse Surplus today and the horizons car they're selling for $10,000 is on display in the main show room. It was really cool to look at it again, after being gone for over 10 years.
I dont see it selling at that price anytime soon.

oh it won't and on ebay they're selling it $14,000 (I guess you get it at a discount in the showroom) but it was really neat to see. They've got a lot of cool stuff there.

Wow I just saw their ebay page. How do they acquire this stuff? Are they allowed to do it? If I grabbed some old equipment from my work and sold it for thousands of dollars, I would be crucified on the spot :lookaroun

I guess they just buy whatever Disney is going to throw out. Disney must sell whatever they don't get rid of at property control and it goes to Mouse Surplus. But if you ever wanted Disney furniture or bedclothes or just about anything else disney has to offer, and if you have the time, it's worth it. It is in the middle of nowhere, but it's easy to get to. And the prices on most of the stuff aren't bad at all, but the ride cars and the one-of-a-kind stuff, that sells for collector prices.

well... i think this has been covered.

looking at the old building... it looks huge in "area" or cubic feet due to the shape. I would guess that it wasnt big enough to hold their ideas of expansion. I loved the old building, im disappointed in the new compared to the concept art, but im still in favor of bulldozing somehting to get something better, and not trying to "fit" something in a preexisting building.

Is Compaq still around?

I believe that the Horizons building is far larger than the M:S building...Martin says that in his tribute IIRC.

It was my favorite ride in EPCOT Center and it was very sad to see it go. A ride with such a good and uplifting message about the future and incorparated all the themes of FW. I always looked at it as The thing that tied FW together. I wish it was still here because MS is a god awful attraction, if Horizons were replaced with something better like an entire space pavillion it wouldnt have been as bad.

Hopefully MS will suffer the same fate and I could see it happening. We always go in peak season during the summer and usually walk on, besides the first year or to ive never waited longer than 30 minutes for it. We were there during New Years and the parks were jam packed, the wait was still 30 minutes. So maybe people will stop riding it and it will die. :fork:

I'm kinda suprised at all the hate Mission: Space gets. I finally got to go on it this January and I thought it was exceptional. I don't like it as much as I liked Horizons (which is probably my all-time favorite anything at Disney), but it was a much better replacement than World of Motion (another all-time favorite) got. Maybe its just me.

M:S is an exceptional, incredibly hi-tech attraction. But it replaced Horizons. So of course people have to hate it. There is no ride on Earth like M:S. It's one of the last attractions built at WDW that they really went out on a limb with, unfortunately people fail to realize it.

As to the person who claimed it was a "walk on" in peak season, that's not even close to true. Easter lines were at almost 2 hours.

I was there at Mousesurplus as well today around 5pm and was not impressed with that place. I guess I was expecting different but that was my own fault for not doing more research first. The other thing I was surprised by was that it was basically in a run down old barn.I was thinking it was a little like a horror movie...."Kelly we are outta gas go see if anyone is in that barn who can help us"
