Oh WOW! Okay, if you go to the webcams that I linked in post #3 and select the "Magic Cam" it's actually TWO webcams on the Carnival Magic. One shows off the bow of the ship so you're looking at the Royal Caribbean ship also in port this morning. The other is the Lido deck which is a pool/hot tub area with a big jumbo-tron type screen sorta like the Funnelvisions on Disney's ship. Um, that pool with the little zero entry area is smooooooth!!! I wanna go theeeeeere! Well maybe not at this very moment because it's cold and raining but that's a really nice setup!

The Carnival Magic is a very nice looking ship. We are thinking of doing the Carnival Dream the sister ship of the Carnival Magic out of PC. I know nothing beats a Disney ship… but the price sure does! Plus the Carnival ship has some cool slides and also visits ports we want to do and see.

I've read in many places and heard from several people that the food on Carnival definitely rivals if not beats DCLs. Can't say from my own experience but it's a point I find rather intriguing. I'm almost anxious to try other cruise lines like Carnival (their bigger, newer ships) and Royal Caribbean just to satisfy the curiosity. I'm almost embarrassed to even think that! LOL! What's wrong with me?! I'm supposed to be the Disney-or-Die girl!!! LOL!

Oh no! We have been on many Carnival cruises and we found the food good. I hope this means the DCL food isn’t terrible! I am worried now.

It's definitely waaaaay better than what I've experienced at WDW including the Yachtsman so don't worry. ;)

A lot of time crew ships just enjoy spending the day at sea in hopes of making more money while the day at sea isn’t necessarily needed. For example take the 3/4 night cruises out of PC. The three night makes all the same ports at the same time as the four night, just on the four night they spend an extra day at sea.

True, @TDF. Going across the Gulf a week ago took 2 days. Returning back across took 1 1/2 and the ship wasn't moving that fast the entire time. ;)

That's because going out the ship is moving into the flow of water that is coming into the Gulf. On the way back to Galveston, the ship is moving with the water entering the Gulf. :D

True but you could tell there was extra time built in there. There were several times going across that we dropped speed considerably. We actually had passed Florida with plenty of time to spare to make CC. We kinda sat out there languidly for oh, I'd say 12 hours? Hubby is crazy about checking the bridge report channel. LOL!

Got home this morning. :(

@sweetpee_1993 Were you on the 8 night cruise on the Magic? We are going on that one for our first cruise in March! I am wondering how the one day at WDW went. What was the bus situation like? I reserved us a spot on the 7:15am bus to the Magic Kingdom. We are used to going to Disney for 8-10 days at a time in January when its not crowded. I am not sure what we are going to do with one day during spring break. But either way the kids are going to be so excited!
Oh and thanks again for your previous advice on cruise transfers!

Yep, we had the Disney day. We used to go to WDW for 9 night trips during slow times. We decided to use our day to see the things that were new to us. The transport was fine and I'll get more detailed when I write up my report. It's all very easy. I may not be the best person to ask what I thought of the day overall. The parks were busy and we were reminded of why we felt "over" the parks thing after our last trip in 2011. We returned to the ship earlier than we originally intended to. We just got to a point during the day when we felt done. Every person we talked to on the ship after that day said the same thing: would rather have had a 2nd day at Castaway Cay. If I had it to do over I'd rent a car for the day and do other stuff. That's just me, tho.

@sweetpee_1993 I don’t think I could run and do a day trip to Disney off a cruise. To me a cruise is relaxing and running to a theme park just doesn’t seem like the right thing to do. Just out of curiosity instead of going to P.C. would you of rather visited another port like Miami or even Freeport?

EDIT: Can’t wait for your TR either. :)

We easily tire of the parks when its crowded too, so I can understand that feeling of being "over it", I am planning on having the kids each pick one favorite thing to do and then not set our expectations too high on accomplishing much else. Looking forward to your report!
